This is using semantics to distract. You are conflating constitutional role with official duties. She is a working royal'l. This means she is publicly funded to perform official engagements such as patronages, national commemorations, and representing the UK both at home and abroad. Being unavailable'l refers to the significant reduction in these public-facing commitments. She works less than Camilla when she was princess less than Diana, less than Anne who is double her age. The question remains: why is the physical threshold for private, high exertion activity seemingly different from the threshold required for these public professional duties?

She's a mother of three children - surely if she wants to be a SAHM that is her right? If it works for her and her husband what's the problem?

Ukisgaslit · 30/06/2026 11:01

@sittingonabeach
I know the sovereign grant was out first …. That’s why distraction was needed !

They all benefit from all the money taken from us - this is not just about William and Kate. The sovereign grant has doubled ( leaving the millions spent on Buckingham palace which they won’t teturn to , out of it )

William and Charles charge the nhs and cancer charities rent .
Stop the PR puffery and put your greedy hands in your pockets full of our cash and pay for yourselves if you don’t want to donate properly . I’d prefer the former .

Either finally roll the duchies into the crown estate or stop the sovereign grant.
One or the other .
The uk can’t afford this balloooning greed .

If it’s the image above that’s clearly AI !

God I hope not, that would be really disappointing

I noticed that she looks different depending on which video/ image you look at. I must admit I can't tell what's AI and what isn't anymore

It doesn't detract from her achievement or from legitimate discussion about her role anyway

Ukisgaslit · 30/06/2026 11:37

@AreYouSureAskedNaomi

Yes that image is AI in my opinion.
At the moment I still tell but not for much longer I suspect which is why the kill notice on Kensington palace issued items is so unsettling . I don’t trust anything they say or do - all of them that is not just William and Kate . It’s all smoke and mirrors .

And to be clear - the Buckingham palqce statement stating that Virgina Guifree’s accusations were false and without foundation ( ie they called her a liar) was done without Ai and with knowledge of Epstein’s conviction so it’s not as if they haven’t been lying to us for years - centuries !

I can easily tell AI voices - and I’m not 100% convinced by a Windsor video from a while ago but that’s all I’ll say about that .

Prince William gives up £1.5 million-a-year income from abandoned prison

The money will instead be spent on regenerating the local community

AI fan created pictures are nothing new and seems to come from fans of all celebrities and royals!
how that can be blamed on the actual subject of the picture seems somewhat odd.

Where was this photo posted initially? Who first posted it here?

I thought it was strange because a member who has had nothing nice to say about anyone commented positively on it.

My suspicious mind thought immediately that it was done to shift the tone of this thread and I’ve come back to see… the tone of this positive thread has indeed shifted.

the trouble with posting that is that people will then wonder who you mean.

She did them all in the 24 hours it says.

on another forum some folks are criticising the fact she was driven between the three peaks, but I can’t imagine anyone actually doing the peaks and safely doing all the driving!

Yes my friend did it recently, 3 of them did the 3 peaks and another member of the team drove them between and waited (presumably getting some sleep) in the car.

ABitFab · 30/06/2026 13:03

Great challenge- did way better than I ever could. And surprisingly without Netflix cameras in her face or selling her clothes?!?!🤭

The 3 peaks challenge stipulates you have to do it in 24 hours - that's why this time of year is the most popularar time to do it, because there are the greatest hours of daylight.
Most people or groups do it with a designated driver, DH did it as part of a group of 6; 2 DPs did the driving and slept whilst the others were climbing the mountains. I don't know of anyone who cli bed AND drove.

Serenster · 30/06/2026 13:24

The first thing I ask myself when any ‘splash’ from the Windsors is all over the media is ‘why now?’

Of course, the fact that it was a weekend a few days after the summer solstice and so with maximum daylight hours, but after the predicted heatwave breaks, and before the Wales children break up from school so she had more time available to prepare everything is irrelevant in your consideration of this issue I imagine? Have you ever heard of Occam’s razor?

Serenster · 30/06/2026 13:30

From the official Three Peaks Challenge.uk website:

Best time of Year: We recommend taking on the challenge between late May and late September. Longer daylight hours - peaking around the summer solstice in late June - give you more flexibility and make navigation easier.

Common Timing Mistakes: Driver fatigue - if your drivers are also walking, everyone suffers. Professional challenge providers use dedicated drivers for good reason.

@JohnnieFedora

I assume that your presenting the prison rip off being stopped as new info means you are unfamiliar with the Times / channel 4 investigation?

Teams of journalists spent months digging behind the scenes in the Duchies ( the companies aren’t exactly listed as Windsor) to identify the charges and rents the Windsors were pocketing.
The original charge was 37 MILLION to be paid by the tax payer to the Windsors over 25 years for the use of Dartmoor prison, that’s ONE charge.

There are many more - the millions charged to the ministry of defence ( the MOD refused the FOI request so we do not know the number) to use ‘duchy ‘ land. They charge schools , charities etc
This was uncovered in the last year or so though Andrew Lownie and Norman baker had been spreading awareness too.

William was charging the tax payer 1.5 million a year even after the prison was empty ! He has been rightly shamed into finally stopping that charge.

Mind you - I saw royalists upthread defending the Windsors charging charities as the claim was charities are rich so it’s quite right to charge them. Following that desperate logic why should we donate at all ?

Serenster · 30/06/2026 13:37

Charities and government agencies paying appropriate commercial rents is a key part of responsible governance and prudent financial operations. There is an expectation that their transactions are conducted at arms’ length and for fair value . Inconvenient for you, but true.

This thread is about Catherine and her Three Peaks Challenge, not the Duchy of Cornwall.

What people don't seem to understand is that the Duchy of Cornwall is a commercial estate. It charges rent for the use of its land and properties, just as any other landowner or business would. If the government weren't leasing from the Duchy, it would likely be paying rent to another landlord.

As for Dartmoor Prison, William didn't create that arrangement—he inherited it. The lease and rental agreement were negotiated and signed by the government before he became Prince of Wales. If you disagree with the terms, your issue is with the agreement that was made, not with the person who inherited the Duchy under its existing legal obligations.

Ukisgaslit · 30/06/2026 13:46

I’m well aware @ThatAvidViewer - that’s why I said ‘Windsor’

They’d still be charging 37 million if their scandalous greed had not been properly publicised.

Much as they’d still be trotting Andrew out in his curtains ( sorry honourable order of the garter!) and paying for his protection and lying to the public were it not for the Epstein Files

You cannot say ‘this thread is about Kate’ . It’s all connected . Just like William and Kate driving Andrew around to help with his (thankfully failed ) rehabilitation attempt .

What did you know William and Charles and when ?

simpsonthecat · 30/06/2026 13:58

What a shame it is not like any other landowner, commercial estate or business then. As everyone else pays Capital Gains Tax and Corporation Tax. But not the Duchy. That gives them a huge advantage over other commercial enterprises. That tax avoidance costs the Treasury millions in lost revenue.

This is so important!! I’ve seen charities that were damaged by people with good intentions providing space and services for free. When circumstances change and they need to begin paying, they often are in big trouble because the budget is not there to cover their needs.

Vacation. Why are you so interested in the British royal family when you are clearly not British? It doesn't affect you in any way.

HelenaWilson · 30/06/2026 14:36

Buckingham palace which they won’t return to....

The present King and Queen won't move in there to live - not 'return to', because they never have lived there. But it will still be'the administrative headquarters of the monarchy and will be used for meetings, receptions, investitures, state banquets and so on. And maybe W&C will live there in future.

Since there will be no members of the RF in residence, the intention is to open more of it to the public.

The refurbishment was carried out to a large extent for the benefit of the staff who live and work there. Plus it's a Grade 1 listed building and a site of national importance, so the government has a duty to the nation to keep it in good repair and fit for purpose.

No, because tax is paid on their profits as personal income by the recipients of those profits. It works just like a partnership in that regard (so this is not an unusual method of taxing an enterprise). And personal income tax rates are higher than corporation tax, so in reality HMRC receives more tax this way.
