@Toblerowner but did you make the press, have people talking about it on social media? More people know about Royal Marsden trust because of her doing it than a group of work colleagues doing it.

Good point. Somebody well known doing it, especially someone like this, provides so much more publicity for the cause.

sittingonabeach · 29/06/2026 09:16

@straighttola it is an asset but not a straightforward asset like a house you can just sell. There will be many rules and regulations on what can be done with it and how changes can be made and what money can be invested in

We all know about it anyway ffs! If this is what counts as work, I’d love to see her do a 24 hour shift in a hospital.

Also funny that she didn’t look sweaty at all

Goodness what a nasty post

Yes. I don't know why people have to be so snide and unpleasant about Catherine doing this.
If you don't like the monarchy, campaign against it, write to your MP, whatever. Snark about someone doing something like this is just nasty.

I think it's a combination of things. Some of it is envy—she's wealthy, has a close-knit family, a stable marriage, three beautiful children, and a prominent public role.

I also think a lot of the hostility comes from supporters of a certain couple who can't stand that Catherine has flourished within the Royal Family while Meghan publicly said she struggled there, and Harry described her as repeatedly crying on the floor. To those supporters, Catherine's success undermines the narrative that it was impossible to thrive in that environment. That's why some seem determined to portray her negatively, regardless of what she does.

Then you also have anti-monarchists who criticize everything the Royal Family does. They could cure every disease in the world, and some people would still find fault with it.

The point is they wouldn’t they couldn’t and they haven’t cured every disease on the planet
But the money that they cost the taxpayer with their stolen land that they hold people to ransom to pay rent for including the hospitals of London, could fund that research and then we could all have lovely cancer treatment without losing a single lock of hair
And more to the point survive
It is a decision not to give that money to all of us, which is why we need a revolution. Guillotine are optional.

She barely works.

I’m not going to fall over myself to praise someone with all the free time and resources in the world to do something like this. If she were a single mother of three who had trained alongside her full time job, maybe.

But given her “work” is what most of us would count as a day off, I’ll pass.

I think you have the wrong poster.
I never suggested anyone should "fall over" themselves to "praise" anyone. (sic).

It’s not nasty to point out that this simply isn’t that big of an achievement for her. She doesn’t work, she has ample time and resources to train and was accompanied the entire way by mountain rescue and private escorts. It’s not exactly that hard for her to do.

JoanChitty · 29/06/2026 09:25

I think that Catherine probably did take this on as a personal challenge as well as raising the profile of the Royal Marsden Hospital,PR that money can’t buy. Win win . Perhaps it was also Catherine’s way of showing she’s back and ready to show all the naysayers she is a force to be reckoned with. Good for her!

It’s awful PR. Expecting the commoners to donate while she and her family sit on billions. So tone deaf and out of touch.

Why would she look sweaty doing a brisk walk to the top of a chilly mountain? When I go running on a cold day I don't get sweaty. I'm usually moaning about being cold and layering up minutes after parkrun.

If you’re going to hike during a heatwave you’re going to look sweaty 😂

Pistacheeo · 29/06/2026 09:28

If you use your eyes she has her hood up and mist all around. That is not warm.

Mamalasira · 29/06/2026 09:28

Goodness me. Some poor comprehension on here and some people's hackles risen from a well intentioned activity!
Catherine must have irritated people with this charity activity! Who'd a thunk.
I'm off now, have a good day everyone.
I have, like many, donated to the cause. So it worked.

You poor, naive soul.

@straighttola posters on here have said they have learnt more about Royal Marsden due to having seen this in the news, have contributed, so that sort of goes against your post

@Housebashing but to access the worth in the Duchy they would have to sell the assets to the highest bidder, who would also then charge rent to the hospitals etc or possibly sell the land for development

That’s their own fault for being a bit thick then, to be honest. Then again they’re monarchy lovers, so if the shoe fits!

No, no, no no no no they wouldn’t have to sell it to anybody. They could just give it back to those. It was stolen from.
It’s a very simple process I believe and I don’t doubt for a minute that somebody else would capitalise on it but fingers crossed that might be the government.

sittingonabeach · 29/06/2026 09:34

@straighttola why would be people who didn’t know the Royal Marsden was fundraising for a new holistic centre be thick? Does everyone need to know what every organisation is trying to fundraise for?

sittingonabeach · 29/06/2026 09:36

@Housebashing so if they just gave it back where would the billions be for the POW to build new hospitals that people want him to spend his wealth on

As I said earlier they are literally renting the hospitals and the charities the land that it stands on for 30 million a year
So there’s 30 million that can go towards whatever else the charities and hospitals decide to spend their money on rather than lining Williams pockets.
Who needs 30 million? Really? Who?

She doesn’t look sweaty, Jesus 😂😂

She’s at the top of Ben Nevis wearing a cap and with her hood up, the weather isn’t hot and sunny, and you can only see her face and her hands.

It’s pretty desperate stuff to try and imply that she didn’t actually do the climb, how do you think she got there?

Also a bit sad that you can’t just be glad that this will raise money and awareness and help the RM provide much needed holistic care for many patients with cancer.
