And, as I've been led off down various rabbit holes, here is an excellent review of Spare by Andrew O'Hagan - even if you don't read the whole thing, do read the headline!

Here's that article. https://archive.is/pGN98 Very interesting.

I was astounded that it was the same person who wrote the fabulous book about Andre Agassi !

If I remember rightly, after looking bemused Charles adjusted his shirt cuffs and normal service was resumed. I don’t even want to think about the circus that would’ve ensued if H and M had found themselves in similar circumstances.

Yes - after the gunman was dragged away - Charles remained to give his speech

Err you mean the NEAR CATASTROPHIC car chase !?

My bad 😔

Plenty of celebs manage to travel completely anonymously in Manhattan, in blacked out vans or limos.

But not our brave three! They must get into a bog standard car and make a big fuss about it 🙄

I think it's very cruel about KC and the late Queen. We don't know that Harry was left alone after he was told about his Mother's death, or that the late Queen was impassive when he said he was going to marry Meghan. This reviewer has allowed himself to be drawn into the web of lies, unfortunately.

Yes, and the ending of that review is twaddle as a result.

Excellent article. Harry never read a book in his life. Speaks volumes

This dreadful mindset will be "the materials of his recovery"?!
I don't think so. He will only be able to recover if he begins to understand what's gone wrong and why, and work hard with a counsellor to heal himself.

ShamedBySiri · 28/05/2026 19:10

On the topic of therapy that Harry has had - I'm sure, like everything, there are good ones and not so good ones. I remember an episode of "In the Psychiatrist's Chair" with Dr Anthony Clare, he interviewed the crime novelist Ed McBain who said he had the same psychiatrist for nine years, seeing him 3 x a week. During that time he had written 50 books, 20 screenplays, short stories and other stuff. Some time later he had cause to contact the psychiatrist for something and the psychiatrist said "Oh I remember you, you were the guy with writer's block"!
So maybe Harry has been seeing a therapist like that.
About 24 minutes in. I used to love that programme, I loved the voice and accent of Dr Clare, there's a man one could unburden oneself to.

Hopefully there have been learnings. And healings.

The level of hypocrisy never fails to astound me.
How on earth do his fans on here (and elsewhere).continue to excuse him?

A lot of people who aren’t on here believe him. My mother for one. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why does she believe him? Has she not seen all the evidence?

Yes - that’s precisely the sentence that I had to keep rereading until I simply accepted it was bollocks! Perhaps the piece was too long and slash-edited close to deadline; but it makes no sense.

(If it needed editing, it should have been cut at the beginning.)

Recklessismymiddlename · 28/05/2026 19:23

She’s a republican for a start off and thinks it’s the evil royal family. Didn’t stop her and my republican dad, running off to a BP garden party, at a sniff of an invite though, (she hates being reminded of that hypocrisy) 😆

she has come to warm to Charles over the years ‘and he’s done a better job than I though he would’ high praise If you knew her.

Absolutely. Plus, you don't review a biography like that by just accepting that it's true and without bias.

See, I don't understand republicans supporting Harry? He's more royal than the rest of them because he just wants all the wealth and privilege and none of the work! He's massively entitled, greedy and arrogant. Hardly a poster boy for the alternative to the actual working RF.

Recklessismymiddlename · 28/05/2026 19:45

Precisely. I think Harry wants the titles more than the WR, they mean more to him now that he’s swanned off.

and to explain to her? Believe me I’ve tried. Oh I have tried. But my dad was republican. My grandparents were republican. Im a constitutional monarchist. She says I sit on the fence, as I’m neither republican or monarchist 😁.

She’s in her 80’s and as sharp as a tack and still works, though slacks slightly, as she went down to 3 days a week, on turning 80.

I share the same level of befuddlement.

He (and M) embody a level of gratuitous expectation in respect of “service” that applies “universally” to solely enhance their egos and bank balance.

Here's a short clip of the assasination attempt on the then Prince Charles.

You can't really see him on that clip but one of the first people to leap up and grab the attacker was John Fahey, who was the Governor of New South Wales at the time, who was also spearheading the successful campaign for Sydney to get the 2000 Olympics. He was a handsome man and it was rather macho and impressive, 😉especially as you can't imagine a UK polictician getting stuck in like that, apart from John Prescott of course.

I googled him, he died in 2020 and Charles sent a letter expressing his condolences and also mentioned his gratitude for what he did.
