It was no-one's "toybox". The history is very interesting as a support/trade group and it's notable that some countries in the Commonwealth were never in the British Empire.
I'm astounded by their ignorance, when even a cursory investigation would reveal the support developing nations have got.

The more the merrier!! , I posted late last night, people probably missed it! , it is interesting that geo picked this up from an account called “Chris baron smith”, this has been speculated to be Harry’s account and indeed was responsible for posting the behind the scenes pictures from the “beef” party! 🤔

I was thinking more on the lines of NDAs or just not wanting the hassle of any Sussex drama on their heads similar to the Trussell trust.

I'm well aware of how it evolved, @FenellaFeldman, and wasn't intending to suggest it was created because the Queen wanted a post-empire toybox ... more that she very likely enjoyed having exactly that once it was up and running

I find both Meghan and Harry's ignorance about the Commonwealth astonishing, bearing in mind the positions they willingly took.

My fault for putting it clumsily, @FenellaFeldman, and yes H&M's acceptance of senior roles in an institution they clearly knew nothing about was unfortunate at best

Par for the course though, as in relying on titles to shore up utter ignorance and a complete unsuitability for the jobs

I do wish, in their important Commonwealth roles, H&M had visited Mozambique.
Never in the British Empire, a Portuguese colony.... but now in the Commonwealth, and benefitting from that alliance. I suspect however, that their intellectual curiosity is so limited, they would never have asked "why?"

Cf Jamaica and William and Catherine’s tour there that was not quite the disaster SM would want us to believe, I note that country has still not passed the legislation to make themselves a republic, and in any event, have said they don’t intend on leaving the Commonwealth.

It supports some of the poorest countries in the world. The Commonwealth Games allows countries to compete which wouldn't be able to participate in the Olympics.

OK, I've slagged off Meghan's cooking skills, or lack thereof. But she can definitely rustle up a fine word salad.

It may do. That was certainly the catalyst for some her her staff at the Palace to come forward and tell their stories of being bullied by her while she was a working royal - the fact that she was heavily trailing her dramatic interview with Oprah and how hard her life had been, and her former staff wanted to make sure their stories were also heard.

But also, there have been some stories out there form people who formerly knew her. Mostly anodyne, because I think most people wouldn’t bother to put their heads about the parapet? For example, a poster on Threads talked about how her brother had acted as Meghan’s agent when she was starting off in Hollywood, and her got her the role on “Deal or No Deal”. She said Meghan was lovely (while accepting that of course she was, her brother was her agent and he was getting her work). She also said her brother was suprised by her trajectory as he would not have picked Meghan to be the one of his former clients to become world famous - he just didn’t think she had “it”. That was as an actor and celebrity though, and clearly her fame came through marriage.

There is so much wrong to me with that scone post.

I'm enjoying reading people's opinions on how to make scones, as I'm not much of a baker. But even I could have said you shouldn't knead scone dough!

The honey looks disgusting, too pale and runny. No- one in their right mind would add pot pourri flower sprinkles on top.

And finally, I eat my scone in two halves, rather than putting the top on like a burger. Who's going to pick that up and eat it like that? It just really highlights that this is not something MM a) has much experience of making and b) has much experience of eating.

I'm all for people trying to earn a living how they want, but you have to do it based on something you know about or can do. Unfortunately, MM is just showing once again that she doesn't know much about food. Especially a British staple!
