The scone thing is crazy....I bake occasionally and one looks at this recipe tells me it's is a strange one for scones. Kneading for five minutes would ruin them.

Is she trolling the UK?! Is she trying to ride on the coatails of the royal family? This insta post lacks authenticity...that thing she keeps mentioning. It is a bit stalkery....and I've never actually thought that before!

She is so foolish ..if you're going to release a little clip about food make it something fresh and local. Tell us more about the bees or whatever!

Harry's friends? I reckon they'll keep a very low profile..no way would they want to get on the wrong side of the royal family. And I bet they all think Megan is deranged and she equally has a low opinion of them

Just saw @StrawberryWasp post. Exactly! Scones are meant to be crumbly.

They are obviously just speculating about M's autobiography but I doubt it'd beat Spare (which is what they're predicting).

Harry had a lifetime of memories that the public would be interested in and was willing to share stuff that made people cringe and laugh at him.

There's no way M will go that route, she'll be very much on her dignity, and very likely sanctimonious, much less entertaining. To make the most of the only bit of her life people will be interested in, 2016 - 2020/1, she might write it in diary format as she's rumoured to have kept a detailed record. But I reckon the RF were always wary of her so doubt there's much of interest and certainly not enough to beat Spare for revelations.

Yes, I think she's already said so much stuff, what else is there to add? Plus, much of what she has claimed has - shall we say - not been an accurate account.
I doubt there's anything left to say.

Papercompany · Today 08:38

Jesus the picture of the scone is awful...it looks absolutely revolting - swimming in honey. And imagine eating honey with bits of flower sprinkles in it..

I would LOVE to see Harry eat this scone and pronounce it to be amazing as everything Meghan does is amazing....roll on the reality TV show!

Indianrollerbird · Today 08:43

I think people would be very interested in MM’s life pre 2016 - only because there are so many gaps in her story and online rumours about everything from secret first marriages to being expelled from
university and engineering her destiny with Harry way before the official timeline. The messy truth is what makes autobiographies compelling. However, I don’t suppose Meghan would ever write anything about herself that isn’t supportive of her own sense of greatness, and truth will probably be stretched to the limits, as that’s her MO. She’s a Walter Mitty.

Did M not lecture a group of H’s friends when she first met them ?
W and H shared a lot of friends and it doesn’t take a genius to work out who they will align themselves with .

Interesting...how are they different from non egg or cream scones? Are they richer or more dense?

To me a scone should be crumbly. Barely holding together as you tentatively attempt to spread butter on it, and having to lean over your plate to get it to your mouth before it disintegrates.

Bettys in Yorkshire for the best most crumbly scones 💖

I think MMs recipe and River Cottage feel more shortcake maybe? Which is American I think?

River Cottage is Hugh Fearnly (?) something, the quite posh Brit into local produce etc.

I’ve been making scones this way since the noughties (have the recipe printed out from the internet) but it’s quite different to the tosh posted by MM.

They care quite delicious and do crumble a bit (not too much, as that drives me mad when it’s all falling apart and my fingers end up covered in jam and cream)

I think Meghan needs to be very careful about a written narrative account of her ‘memoirs’, as it’ll then be easy for reviewers and critics to compare it against all her interviews and Harry’s interviews and accounts.

MyAutumnCrow · Today 08:49

How’s she going to handle the racism/not racism insinuations cast at the royal family, for example? Blame H for telling her a load of crap?

If she covered her life pre 2016 wouldn't it then be open season on scrutinising her past and her version of it?

That seems like a potentially risky thing for her to do.

Wouldn't she be more likely to do a personal version of Finding Freedom. Her experience of meeting H, her terrible time in the RF, and her amazing success and joy since leaving.

Sounds pretty dull to me.

IcedPurple · Today 08:53

She seemed quite contemptuous of English and British culture when she was a working royal, representing the United Kingdom.

But now she's in California she's making some nasty looking scones? Yes, I know no country 'owns' any recipe or food, but scones really are quintessentially quaint English. Very afternoon tea and English country garden.

Also, why is the recipe in metric? 'As Ever' products are not shipped internationally, and Americans don't use metric. All very bizarre. But that's our Duchess.

Edited

I think a lot of authors are sitting on a lot of material for legal reasons, and any autobiography from
her giving her account will open up a public interest reason to publish alternative accounts from
other parties. I was listening to a podcast on the Salt Path scandal yesterday, and thinking about how long it took for the truth to start emerging about the author, as so many people with solid evidence were too afraid to speak up. It took one person stepping forward for the floodgates to open.

edit to add @StrawberryWasp yes, if she writes “her truth” about her life pre Harry, then it would as I say above, give a potential public interest reason to print alternative accounts.

Indianrollerbird · Today 09:00

I’m constantly amazed there aren’t more people from MM’s past, telling nice stories about “I knew her when…” But there’s next to nothing and I find that very odd.

DaisyDooley · Today 09:22

I think Harry let his friendships slide because of Meghans influence
The not inviting his close friends to the evening part of his wedding while inviting Oprah, the Clooneys etc was frankly cruel.
These men had been Harry’s pals for years and had been with him through scrapes. Guy Polly for example had taken the fall for Harry’s drugs, Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip equally had been the fall guy for Harry’s inappropriate behaviour .
Harrys friends have to be approved by Meghan.
Im convinced he is in her thrall but equally is terrified of loosing his kids and being the worlds biggest laughing stock as he has gone too far down the road now to ever go back to the RF.
The British public would not accept him and as we know William will be king and I don’t think he will ever forgive Harry.
The trust has been irreparably shattered.

and as for that scone recipe -I am imagining my late grandmothers face if I said ‘no, you put the cream in after whisking the egg - and now knead it for 5 mins!!’.
I mean, just copy Mary Berry’s recipe or the royal chefs one Meg.
and why do you need ‘raw cream’? Where would regular Americans get that when their food is so processed?

It is Memorial Day weekend this weekend. Sweet treats tend to be berry heavy to get that red, white and blue look.

What M is offering does not resonate with the US market. And from comments from UK/commonwealth bakers it looks as if the recipe actively repels that market!

ShamedBySiri · Today 09:37

HoldMyWine · Today 08:21

What the hell is this? Also the hands look too white to be MMs.

That bit of flower sprinkle on the side looks like a dead fly.

I would like to see her try to eat that abomination. Did anyone here have childhood competitions to eat a sugary jam donut without licking your lips?
How could anyone eat Meghan's version of scone without ending up smothered in cream and honey, face, hands, clothing. She should make a video of that. Be generous. Share the laughs!

We eat in the car all the time, not royal and don't have staff, do have lots of crumbs in the car!

We don't have crumbs, we have a dog... 😂

Plenty of dog hair and no staff 😭

MrsFinkelstein · Today 09:54

pmk.

Again, another one haunted by that scone recipe. I've never made scones with egg before - am tempted by the HFW/Mary Berry ones though.

ShamedBySiri · Today 09:56

We know there has been scandal about human rights abuse associated with African parks, plus the Chadian government terminated its agreement with charity, accusing it of failing to curb poaching among other issues.
Do we know anything about the finances of the charity? It has some very wealthy and high profile donors so there is plenty of money going in...

After school activities were such a nightmare - pickup children, rush to swimming or piano lessons etc. There was no alternative but to feed them in the car. It was a right mess. Once I gave another school Mum and child a lift somewhere and apologised for the mess in the car and she primly replied (through pursed lips) "We don't allow our children to eat in the car"!

Jellybelly80 · Today 10:00

IdaGlossop · Today 00:49

I must confess to being a bit shocked that the royal children eat jam sandwiches in the car. Eating in the car is something I don't generally allow children to do but I don't have staff on hand to clean up the mess 🙂

I have a feeling the Wales children know how to clean up after themselves.

Puzzledandpissedoff · Today 10:11

As we discovered in hd from as ever, Meghan doesn’t know how to cook! It’s embarrassing! 😳

It reminds me of a kid "helping" mummy in the kitchen, jeff, making a complete mess with inappropriate blendings while being cooed at ... "aren't you a clever girl and will she notice it's been chucked away?"

Given the connotations I'm surprised Harry's done something to remind anyone of African Parks though, but then at this stage I guess the important thing is to be "seen doing stuff" in some attempt to look needed

Prince Harry popped up in Arizona a few days ago to give a speech at an African Parks conference.
