Simple summary from the Spectator: British Jews do not need, or want, lectures from a multimillionaire across the pond.

The Sussex title could be removed, but it would take an act of parliament (given that AMW's dukedom hasn't yet been removed, though his Prince title has). It would cause a huge outcry and backlash from them, with lots more 'poor me' media hype, rather than the current approach of gradually letting everyone see that they are steadily becoming less and less relevant.

No-one of any standing was involved in their Australian trip. They were not included in any way in the US state visit, either in the US or British Embassy formalities; multiple other people with British/American links were. That tells everyone that they are speaking for themselves.

It's also most likely why we've had a few headlines and articles over the last week - the Sussexes are upset about that.

noonames · 15/05/2026 13:24

The tantrums and attention seeking are becoming more and more desperate as their relative levels of importance and popularity fall and the money dribbles away. Maybe there’s also bad news behind the scenes - financial problems or impropriety about to emerge at Invictus, a final no from ravec, an official refusal from the RF to attend any events with H+M ever, a big old no to Meghan’s list of demands, warning shots across bows following that awful use of sick children and traumatised victims to sell outfits in Australia, who knows..

It’s interesting to see the press drawing direct and unflattering comparisons with KC3 in America and Golders Green, and the PoW’s trip to Italy. They won’t like that in Montecito.

What shallow minded view, not to mention totally inaccurate.

How is it shallow? Or inaccurate? It's a pretty balanced opinion of a far from perfect bloke.

FallenNight · 15/05/2026 12:55

@Starryfifty I'm not sure removing the titles would make much difference. He would be referred to as the former......a bit like AMW so the titles would still be there in the headlines. The cost of removing them would be an unnecessary headache.

I agree. Harry is a pain and his increasing meddling in highly sensitive political issues is becoming problematic. But removing titles would create a big hoo ha and not really change much. He's still the King's son even if he's plain Harry Mountbatten Windsor. Not to mention that the royals really don't want to make a habit of removing titles, as it might get people wondering just what is the point of the whole royalty thing.

Best to sit tight and wait for him to gradually fade from the headlines despite his ever more desperate attention grabs.

bluegreygreen · 15/05/2026 13:41

No human is perfect.

A balanced opinion wouldn't normally involve such sweeping statements on someone the poster has never heard speak before, despite them having a public facing role that has involved speaking publicly over at least the last 50 years (counting from leaving the Navy; you could count from being made Prince of Wales - 68 years).

Starryfifty · 15/05/2026 12:43

Harry's puff pieces are always referenced Duke, KC son etc. I do think removing his title would go a long way tbh. Media wouldn't be arsed promoting him, etc. RF starting to look like a soap opera, thanks to AMW, Fergie and the Sussexes

The Royal Family have been a soap opera for hundreds of years, nothing new there!
Eddie Izzard said back in the 90s that when Diana died it was a bit like your favourite soap storyline suddenly being cut off ("What? Wait, I was watching that.")

This is the Times article @jeffgoldblum linked to in archive

I haven't seen the picture of H&M in Jordan before (half-way down the page) but couldn't help but notice M staring straight at the camera smiling rather than paying attention to what seems to be a serious discussion.

I'm not suggesting anyone is perfect but cheating on your wife and leading a double life gor many, many years is a pretty rotten thing to do, to put it politely.

Indeed.
A bit like pretending to smile at her son hiding behind a pillar, but with her eyes swivelled extreme right, straight at the camera lens.
Here, she's not even pretending to listen.

Shagging other women’s husbands is also not a nice thing to do !

I agree.

So is having multiple affairs, or sending hundreds of silent phone calls to your married lover when he won't leave his wife (if you really want to go down that route).

There are many things I would disagree with Charles on, including what I know of his marriage (and outsiders never know the whole story), but I would never call him pathetic. He has done a huge amount of useful work over many years, and is a highly respected international figure.

Many thanks! , I was debating if I could be bothered to highlight Diana’s less than savoury behaviour but decided I couldn’t be bothered 🤷‍♀️

But these pictures could be chosen to show her in the worst light. It is a snap shot. She may have been focused and listening moments before, the photographer may have done something to catch her attention and make her smile?

I do always wonder about pictures that indicate a trait or behavior because they are a snapshot and may not represent all that happened.

On the other hand it may be that there are so many pictures where she is more interested in the camera than the person speaking that on balance it shows a behavior pattern.

There were no pictures published of Catherine looking at the camera while meeting people in Italy that I have seen. But it doesn't mean there were none taken.

Produce? They are not producers and they way they throw these terms around is a huge insult to genuine producers in the business

I wonder if it will materialise at all.

How is 'Meet me by the Lake' progressing? It's been nearly 3 years since we heard they were 'producing' it.

Just her, and nobody else in the room? She’d have had to be looking at the camera in the first place to see this supposed entertaining interlude anyway, instead of focusing on the person speaking as anyone with manners would have been doing.

Balanced?
ok, if you say so….
He's highly respected in many countries across the world, despite his failings.
i take it that you’ve met him.
I have, having been involved in the Princes Trust in the past, on several occasions and found him to be very approachable and involved in his causes. He’s extremely knowledgeable.

Usually not - she aims to focus on the people

And I thought Netflix got rid of them ??

They pretty much did.

Their 'production deal' was not renewed and they now have a 'first look deal' which isn't really a 'deal' so much as NF saying 'give us a shout if you have anything in the pipeline and we'll take a look and decide to give it a whirl. Or not'.

I don't really doubt it, she is very good at her job and very natural at it (putting the focus on the cause and not herself). Possibly helped by the fact that I don't think she ever really wanted the fame of being a royal, just wanted William. Though I could be naive, I know lots thing she elbowed her way to him because she wanted to be queen.

Yes its a stretch, just exploring the possibility that a single picture does not show the whole story and it is easy to choose the ones that paint the picture you want to show.
