Emily Maitlis has shown unseen footage of AMW saying his aides and private secretaries looked at his diaries and established the Pizza Express visit... course they did 🤣

I never understood the significance anyway because he said it was 4 or 5pm... surely he could be back home and off to Tramp and Maxwell's house after. There were some great memes back in the day when the lying oaf brought up Pizza Express.

Linen
For anyone rubbing their hands together in anticipation of watching others be harmed by the actions of one person it sure does

Sorry but this is a ridiculous assertion. AMW represented the Monarchy all over the world as a Trade Envoy. He was not a singular person with no responsibilities, he had centuries old tradition and public service to uphold. Of course he harmed the whole lot of them!

Whether we rub our hands in glee or not, is totally irrelevant. It was down to him to behave in a respectful manner and lead by example. He failed big time.

Of course he did. But the people that LOVE it because they want to see the royal family humiliated are gross. They don’t care one whit about the women that were harmed.

You see I don't know what you mean by anticipation. Surely the failure to act on such serious allegations, with evidence, is an irrevocable stain on the reputation of the monarchy?

Stop that now Linen. I have every sympathy possible for the survivors of Epstein. I have followed court cases, I have read court documents, I have read a big chunk of VG's book. I have watched Pam Bondi's hearing on the Epstein files when many of them were present (she is the ex Attorney General.) She ignored them by the way.
You really should not make sweeping statements like this. What do you know about the survivors? How many can you name? How much have you read about their experiences? Have you followed their campaigns?
I have. All of that.

I didn’t say you.

Wow, getting quite personal with me there and I won’t be engaging in that.

Let’s leave it, shall we?

BrandiedAromatics · 06/07/2026 17:14

Personally, I thought it was sickening to see Epstein, Weinstein and Maxwell entertained at Ascot, hosted at Royal Lodge, Sandringham and Balmoral. To see them lounging there and exploiting the rest of the RF's hospitality was dreadful for us all.

Save your breath, @BrandiedAromatics and @simpsonthecat; to some who support the monarchy - not thinking just of the PP but in general - any fault belongs not to the horrors who are involved in these acts but to those who inconveniently point them out

With the long history of those who've spoken out it's not even as if the rest can pretend they didn't know about Andrew, though they usually try when scandals come to light, and they'll be judged accordingly

AnnunciataM · 06/07/2026 17:28

As always, my utmost sympathies are with the victims.

But that doesn't mean we can't call out the RF for protecting Andrew and more or less calling VG a liar. And let's not forget Edward's far more recent "and who are the victims" comment. It's hardly rubbing hands in glee to want them held to account.

Excellent advice even if the premise is incorrect.

Exactly!

Their stick head in the sand 'never explain' is wearing a bit thin now.

I replied with a full explanation of how much I knew about the victims. How that is 'responding in kind' is beyond me.

But you do you, that's fine.

You love thinking entire family has been humiliated by the actions of one. OK.

The institution. I'm criticising the institution for allowing this to happen, allowing that ridiculous assertion to be made, allowing a statement to be released calling the victim a liar and publicly discrediting her, and then not even apologising.

I never mentioned any individual members of the Royal Family. You made that assumption. My criticism is of the institution and its handling of the situation. That said, I do think it must be humiliating for members of the Royal Family to see the institution associated with them handle matters this way. That's very different from blaming or criticising them personally. Your interpretation is quite a leap, though not an unexpected one

This is complete and utter nonsense and should be reported as a personal attack.

The damage to the RF caused by AMW can be laid squarely at the feet of his mother. She condoned it, colluded in hiding it and did fuck all to help any of his victims get justice.

Do you think that VG felt some form of justice was served because she accepted the settlement?

Having backed down from her accusations of Alan Dershowitz harmed her chances at pursuing AMW.

That was always baffling. Was Dershowitz wrongly accused? Or did he threaten her in some way? He enjoyed a stellar reputation (albeit managed him anyway) prior to that.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Exactly. QE2 was an enabler of her son. She created this situation. And only when one of her royal parties AKA jubilee was going to be threatened did she pay off the victim after the palace had called VG a liar. And never rescinded that statement they put out.

Dershowitz did not have a stellar reputation! Fucking awful man who was the main player in enabling Epstein's sweetheart deal in 2008, open prison for a few months. This meant Epstein went on to abuse many many more young girls for years
Stellar reputation my arse

@NotTalkinBoutTheLinen
No I don't think she did. This was what they said in Nov 2019 following the Newsnight interview.

"It is emphatically denied that The Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts [Giuffre]. Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation."
They smeared her and have never retracted that statement - despite Camilla's and Sophie's admirable campaigning against violence against women and girls.

I’m thinking prior to that, re: Dershowitz actually.

I hate the attitude that there is always a woman to blame behind every horrible male. That’s how I see it when you blame AMW’s mother for his bad behavior.
