They took them to Disneyland and posed for pictures. Not sure if they went on any rides as well. Weren't there also pictures of them trick or treating? Or was that just M? I remember she was drinking.

Disneyland was all paid for as it was to promote Disneyland 70 years. They never seem to do anything with other kids/families but according to People magazine, Meghan and h have a very close circle of trusted friends, maybe their children all interact?

I would expect W&C to consider their own DCs educational and social consistency first and not behave in such a knee-jerk, flouncy and petty way.

I would expect the school would discreetly inform William the moment any approach was made about the Sussex children joining the school. Strangely enough I imagine the school would then find it was unable to accept those proposed pupils for some very good reason.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 05/05/2026 06:45

Does anyone know how you get invited to the Met Gala?

I expect the very good reason would be that they can’t pass the entrance exams, not least given the lack of academic credentials from at least one parent possibly two… plus being educated in the US. And were H&M to demand places based on “who they are” would be another PR disaster of entitlement… and one which any school could easily rebut on the grounds of fair and transparent processes.

Your publicists hammer it out with the gala’s publicists, I imagine…?

HoldMyWine · 05/05/2026 08:11

I’m looking for a met gala thread as don’t want to hijack this one!

BasiliskStare · 05/05/2026 08:27

No... and nor does Meghan!

Apparently Catherine was invited but declined .
Can’t think why !

JSMill · 05/05/2026 09:30

Did Princess Diana ever attend it?

Thedom · 05/05/2026 09:36

I was curious too, google says the following, explains why Meghan and Harry have never been invited, I read Catherine and William are invited every year, Diana went once after her divorce, in a not very attractive slip dress.

Here is how people are put forward and selected for the Met Gala:
^^
Anna Wintour and Vogue Staffers: A team of planners and Vogue staff compile a list of hundreds of potential guests, which is then reviewed and edited by Wintour.
^^
Fashion Brands and Designers: Brands (like Gucci, Prada, or Saint Laurent) buy tables at the gala, which cost around $350,000+. While brands suggest which celebrities they want to host at their tables to wear their clothes, every proposed guest must still be approved by Wintour.
^^
The "In" Group: Selection is based on current cultural relevance, achievement, and "buzz" rather than just money.
^^
Host Committee: Each year, a committee of celebrity hosts helps determine the guest list.

Did Princess Diana ever attend it?

Yes, one year to present an award to her friend. But this was before it became this huge tacky celeb event…..it was more a New York society thing back then.

It’s when she wore the navy nightie dress.

Emma Thynne looked gorgeous and seems to have been one of the few who wasn’t half naked and wore a dress she could actually walk in.

Anyone know what happens once you’ve done your pose on the red carpet and get inside? So many wore outfits and shoes they could barely move in, much less go for a pee. Some had ridiculously long trains.
I saw a couple of clips from inside. There didn’t seem to be food or drink but maybe that happens once everyone has made it to their tables though surely some have to change if they are going to sit down and eat, plus alcohol would be dangerous for those in mad shoes.
I wonder if there is a huge changing room somewhere inside where they strip off the bonkers outfit and put on their “after party” dress.

Does it raise money for charity or something?
It all seems like an episode of the Hunger games and thoroughly vulgar and vile imo.

JSMill · 05/05/2026 09:52

I think she went post divorce, didn’t she? Emma looks absolutely stunning but I am
quite intrigued as to how she bagged an invitation.

BasiliskStare · 05/05/2026 09:56

Thank you @Thedom. So Meghan qualifies on precisely no count. 😊

I think @IcedPurple has it. Meghan does go in for transaction relationships but with nothing to transact herself. In the early days , NF , Spotify , Penguin RH , yes they had the Royalness. They've cheapened that though - well H's bit - I think KC went down a storm. They've just overused it for their own little projects and commercial ventures. And , they no longer have the proximity , which is why they got those deals etc in the first place. They've become curiosities , almost figures of fun. Added to which I just don't think M has got the hang of just being nice to people and not throwing her weight around , a weight she only has because she married H. All a bit circular.

I think there are those who are invited and those who “bag” an invite by fair means or foul. Emma will be one of the former.

HoldMyWine · 05/05/2026 10:08

Emma is a friend of Serena and Venus so I guess Venus invited her as she was a chair this year?

JSMill · 05/05/2026 10:20

@ShamedBySirifair point.

Starryfifty · 05/05/2026 10:21

The video of Meg with the 2 Australian podcasters is cringe. Whole dynamic is wrong. They are too young. She can't even pretend to be interested. She clearly doesn't want to be there. Why bother ?

same old lines churned out. Our children, my love, date nights blah blah

Ask this talk of Scobie reminded me he came his book Endgame and claimed it was the end of the monarchy. No wonder he's disappeared from public view, how embarrassingly wrong can one person be.

I've always believed this was the result of the royal lawyers getting in on the act, MrsLF. Silly studio hosts might have allowed Scobie to spout his "I didn't know" nonsense but that won't have washed with better minds and they'll have probably terrified the insect

As for whether the Princess of Wales meant Catherine or Camilla it hardly seems to matter. Either way one of the husbands would be incensed and Harry's not really in a position where offending them further is likely to help him

Oh poor Serena - who convinced her she looked ‘hot’ in the get-up? Puts me in mind of this:

AtIusvue · 05/05/2026 11:21

Emma has a lot of connections in high society and fashion…..which will work well for Anna. She’s also close with the ex British vogue editor.

The "In" Group: Selection is based on current cultural relevance, achievement, and "buzz" rather than just money.

This is an interesting point.

Strongly suggests they'd have made the cut in 2020 had Covid not intervened.

That missed opportunity (among others) must still sting.
