The writers write according to their audience. As far as I'm aware, Australian Good Housekeeping is more low-brow than British Good Housekeeping. The Aus version's readership will have a lower reading age, hence the more simply structured writing. It's a reflection of the readership not the writer.

“The Duchess doesn’t have a stylist, so she styles herself. So, everything she chooses to wear has a purpose.”

Really? The above example from the article is a reflection on the readership and not the writer? Is it aimed at 8 year olds?

And don’t forget

‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has long been a lover of fashion and a modern style icon’

which reads like Meghan wrote it herself.

I thought it ran successfully for a couple of decades and folded because of COVID?

And that it was a Limited Company - which is a way thousands of people use to protect their personal assets from business risks?

But I haven't followed the story very much.

What responsibility/ culpability did the Middletons shed?

They did and you are correct. Like many businesses, it got into trouble and administrators were appointed who then took complete control of the company, its assets and its debts; and exercised the moratorium on actions and claims from creditors granted under the Enterprise Act, so they could sell the company as a going concern, the primary aim of administration . The administratiors, not the Middletons. People spouting this stuff need to at least try to understand how the process works - and blame Tony Blair if they don’t like it.

Definitely meghan word salad. "Everything she wears has a purpose" . More nonsense verbiage

Well, to be fair, I guess everything that I wear has a purpose as well. Sometimes it's to keep me warm. Sometimes it's to look nice. Sometimes it's to stop me walking around naked in public.

What's really weird about the article is the implication that, if you do have a stylist, then you wear things which have no purpose at all. Perhaps the stylist simply blindfolds themselves and pulls random articles out of a sack to throw at you? Things which are neither useful nor beautiful?

I've never had a stylist, so cannot speak from personal experience. But that doesn't sound like a service that I would pay for.

What things do people wear that don’t have a purpose?

Edit: Sorry Ducklingfeet, I didn’t see your reply before posting.

I’ve just heard the child’s voice as her mother asks her what she thinks about her dubious jam.
she replies to her mother that it beautiful, obviously in an American accent.
very cute and lovely.
can we look forward to hearing from Archie next?
they really are controlling the kids in a most unedifying way.
I think it’s sickening that they are choosing to set them up this way.
As pp have said before, it’s weaponising theses poor kids.
wheeling them out, bit by bit, when it benefits their parents.
Awful parents.

Yes, I recall that. Many months ago - last year? It sounds like an adult voice pretending to be a three year old.

I doubt they listen to each other's speeches normally, but for an occasion like this I would expect that the Wales's and perhaps others would listen. A great learning opportunity for George I would think.

As for H&M - they haven't clapped back at reports that they didn't watch/listen so I suppose that is likely to be the truth. Have they really kept Archie & Lili in complete ignorance of this historic occasion of the widely praised visit by their Grandfather? I suppose they must have. Beggars belief that they (it might just have been Harry) can talk about the children possibly choosing to be working royals when they grow up (which obviously would never be an option for them) but at the same time keep them in total ignorance of what working royals do. Bonkers.

They are very young children. It would be totally bewildering for them if they were told this man on the TV is your grandfather. They don’t even know what a grandfather is or what that means in their lives. It would confuse them. They are also far too young to understand anything about the function of a RF. It sounds to me like they live very strange, isolated lives in general with little concept about other countries or family life beyond Doria and their parents.

MargaretThursday · Yesterday 07:19

How old do you think the children are to have no concept of what a grandfather is?

At their age they'd have to never come across it in a book, or be told by another child - and be unaware what relation Doria and Diana were to them.
And even if all the above was true, your dad's dad is a simple enough concept.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · Yesterday 07:30

I think it is meant to make you see just how amazing MM is, as unlikely that awful Kate, she doesn't need a stylist as she is so super talented she can style herself.

@MargaretThursday I agree, and there is also a time on children's lives when they start asking about why they are different from other families, it is a perfectly normal part of growing up exploring how families are different.

Thedom · Yesterday 07:43

The Sussex PR articles are a bit frantic at the moment, right ??

This hugely successful state visit by Charles and Camilla must be leaving a very sour taste for them, all their accusations of racism, horrible father, evil stepmother, outdated monarchy, has only served to destroy their own reputations, never more proof than now as the British Royal family are looking more successful and popular than ever.

But they know what a grandmother is? They have Doria and have been told all about Diana (as per Netflix program)?

So it's seems strange that anyone might think they wouldn't know what a grandfather is?

If you are going to give your kids the titles of Prince and Princess then you have a responsibility to explain those titles and give them context.

Lilibet, in particular, has been named to 'honour' a grandmother and great grandmother....yet no actual honour and respect is being shown to the family. So was she named to genuinely honour her roots or for merching reasons only?

Charles isn't going to live forever - it is cruel to deny them meeting this side of family (because of securidee). It could be done privately and quietly.

Also, I understand why they won't have told them about Meghan's Dad but when the kids are older they will be able to read the gushing Fathers Day post that Meghan wrote (about Thomas Markle) just before meeting Harry.

Papercompany · Yesterday 07:55

I saw the new video on Instagram with the chocolate man and chickens - there is a tiny glimpse of Lilibet....just enough to tantalise people on the internet and not let them forget there is a Princess in the house. Honestly, do they not see that little glimpses are really strange....it's like 'don't forget she's here but you can't see her!' Almost teasing....a dangerous game.

Of course they're not to young to understand the concept of a grandparent. What weird idea!

They have a grandparent. They have photos of their grandparents. (I'm sure photos of Diana are everywhere!) They'll read children's books with grandparents in them. They'll know other children who have grandparents
They'll watch children's programmes with grandparents in them.

Hopefully they'll have seen photos of Charles, and even of themselves as babies with their grandad.

If not, their parents are even more fucked up than they seem.

Even when it comes to getting dressed, the message has to be that Meghan is so much better at it than anyone else, because she does so purposefully. And who among us can say that….

(It’s all of a piece with she’s such an amazing friend, such an amazing hostess, such an amazing boss, such an amazing suitcase-packer, even…. the narrative doesn’t change, just the example)

StrawberryWasp · Yesterday 08:12

The new IG vid is more oddness.

Whose that man? And M is so embarrassingly performative again.

These videos seem desperate because they're trying to show 'my happy life' but obviously someone coming round is such an unusual rare event it's insta worthy. Even if he's some rando business acquaintance.

It's like: Look! I do have a friend!!

When everyone can awkwardly see: yeh you don't really know that guy do you?

the thing i dont get is that lots of her clothes are awful. Often they dont fit , are creased the wrong colour or totally unsuitable for her body type. Who is going to aspire to that ?
When she does get it right she can look stunning there is no doubt about that but more often than not it is a miss rather than a hit. To be a fashion icon you need to look put together and polished at all times and she doesn't look like she puts much effort in most of the time

It's a weird attempted flex. If nothing else Catherine's clothes are usually selected for a purpose: reflecting the colour of a flag, honouring a UK or local designer, following a colour code as at the Commonwealth service etc etc. What purpose does anything Meghan puts on have except to make money?

He isn't even a friend. She titled the post "when the chocolate man comes to visit". It is just nerching, for her and him. And jf I were him i wouldn't be boasting about supplying over priced generic chocolate.
