PR disasters of Meghan and Harry.

Left off at the last page with Meg selling candles to people who want to know what her young children smell like. She’s also using the kids full titles in the press release….just for a dash of extra exploitation.

As you were

Also hope there is adequate (excellent!) security given the events of last night

It looked as if the Keystone Cops were in charge.

Trump didn't got shot and the attacker was apprehended. 🤷‍♀️

StillSpartacus · 26/04/2026 11:40

I actually feel slightly sad reading that Horoscope. Massively frustrated - but still a bit sad. How does someone with so much think she is an eternal victim? She could be so much happier if she could only appreciate what she has and get on with enjoying it.

If one of my teens had posted that I’d have given them a rocket up the arse. This is a 40 + year old woman who identifies as intelligent.

corblimeygvnr · 26/04/2026 11:46

God, horoscopes - I used to read those when I was a teenager. I also later lived with someone who made up the horoscopes for a well known teen magazine. 😂

I used to have a friend I lived with who was very into horoscopes and the Chinese zodiac, mixed and matched depending on her mood! , she was less impressed to discover she was Capricorn and a rat ! And very jealous I was cancer and a tiger! 🤷‍♀️ didn’t care then , think it’s bollocks now.

It’s so disheartening @ShamedBySiri to think I’m engaging with genuine posters who may be anything but.

PoppysAunt · 26/04/2026 12:07

You're right, @ShamedBySiri . Lobbying is one thing. Spreading lies is quite another. As you say, MN is awash with it.

I believe the attacker had been apprehended prior to what looked like the keystone cops eventually getting him off the stage.

I wonder if it’s the magazine where my boyfriend’s sister was one of the aging aunts?

Totally agree.

It's one reason why I can be quite boring about giving facts and posting links to actual legislation or parliamentary reviews.

Me too! Or endlessly when people don't understand what a Constitutional Monarchy is, or why it's not the choice of KC to visit Trump.
Or why Harry will never be regent or accede to the throne.

PoppysAunt · 26/04/2026 12:17

One poster on a previous thread:
"Why is he called The King if he's not in charge?"

I don’t think many people, including most of Mumsnet, understand the extent to which social media is being used to push for social change. Pay per post communications are used to flood websites and I personally think Mumsnet is awash with it, I see in a variety of threads. Regarding the Royal threads I think republicans don’t so much waste their time presenting their argument - the preferred method is to undermine the royal family and the royal board here is the perfect medium.

There is a company called 411 communications used by the Labour Party (I don’t quite understand the Israeli connection but that’s another matter) who are paid to push their agenda. For instance regarding the budgets and taxation I find it unlikely and unrealistic how many Mumsnetters will pop up to say they are proud and pleased to pay lots of tax, indeed happy to pay lots more because blah blah. Clearly paid posters imo.

There are undoubtedly lots of other similar outfits doing the same thing, pushing whatever agenda someone will pay them to push.

Yes, it's very blatant with some parenting threads that can be solved by a "product" too. Any thread about nappies and potty training now gets aggressively pounced on by posters saying children aren't ready, for example. I suspect similar influence with formula too.

It used to be far more balanced.

Or the one who thought he was “ omipotent” 🙄 ( the typo wasn’t mine!)

Oh that was hilarious! She kept insisting KC was omnipotent! 🤭
I attached various explanations on the power limitations of the monarch, (fairly simple ones) but she wouldn't have it.
Scary. These people walk amongst us.

PoppysAunt · 26/04/2026 12:26

What was the other funny one: "Catherine should have refused to talk to Trump at the banquet, she's as bad as him and supports sex offenders"
🙄
I genuinely didn't know where to start with that one.

bluegreygreen · 26/04/2026 12:28

Yes, I remember the omnipotent one! A true 'not sure whether to laugh or cry' moment.

I said "why do you think we have elections, MPs and waste money on Parliament then?"
😂

Poor Meghan, none of this is her fault…we just don’t understand how special she really is.

As a fellow Leo, albeit one who thinks horoscopes are complete woo, this is so cringey.

She sounds like a sullen teen, not a supposedly empowered, confident 44 year old woman with two children. Who exactly does she world to think of her as? The problem is that she does not know herself. And I've never come across anyone so utterly consumed by what complete strangers think of her. That's no way to live.

Rhaidimiddim · 26/04/2026 12:52

Recklessismymiddlename · 26/04/2026 12:04

It’s so disheartening @ShamedBySiri to think I’m engaging with genuine posters who may be anything but.

Don't you find that, after a time, you can tell those who aren't genuine? They are the ones who shoehorn a particular point - William is lazy and quick-tempered, Charles is weak - into their replies, and seldom deviate from a particular narrative. They don't ever seem to be in a debate or a discussion, but more like the loudmouth at the bar who just shouts his opinion and keeps shouting it.

The narrative can change from day to day, as can the posters' names, but the posting style remains the same.

They also pick fights with posters using a technique where they misrepresent a poster's words and claim the poster actually said something they didn't. Then it degenerates into bad-faith, bad-tempered semantic analysis when the poster denies they ever said such a thing. @jeffgoldblum could tell you all about being on the receiving end of it.

Edited to finish off a sentence I had left unfinshed.

As a fellow fan of the truth - literal, not Harry's version - I'm another who very much appreciates your input

BasiliskStare · 26/04/2026 13:19

That horoscope post is jaw dropping. Perhaps what people "are willing to see" is actually , y'know , what they see. How you see yourself might just not be how other people see you. EG If part of your creative direction is a lifestyle show which was roundly panned by commentators and performed poorly in NF ratings then perhaps that is what people actually saw and thought. By all means follow your creative direction but don't expect unconditional adulation as yours by right.
And just because you bang on about being authentic doesn't mean people necessarily perceive you as such.

The self pity and lack of self awareness of this pair who have so much , owing to little to no discernible skill or talent of their own , I think is, frankly, repellent .

And there my rant must end 😊

Mylovelygreendress · 26/04/2026 13:33

It concerns me what kind of environment their DC live in . H and M seem totally self absorbed.
