PR disasters of Meghan and Harry.

Left off at the last page with Meg selling candles to people who want to know what her young children smell like. She’s also using the kids full titles in the press release….just for a dash of extra exploitation.

As you were

The media wants them back , the controversy means clicks and money.

Exactly, jeff - there's years worth of clickbait right there Hmm

Frogmore Cottage wouldn’t be good enough! They probably have their eyes on Royal Lodge

I hadn't thought of Royal Lodge in quite that context, @BigWillyLittleTodger, but you could easily be right
Like the York title itself I doubt any other royals would want to be associated with it in living memory, but H&M may well be brazen enough

PoppysAunt · 24/04/2026 11:35

Good points, @TheAutumnCrow . We really don't need Harry shaking that hornet's nest. He needs to stay out of politics because he isn't in that role and doesn't have the wherewithal.

Yep. In politics and diplomacy (including the informal skills you need to represent a charity or non-profit organisation) you have to always be playing chess in your head, thinking of your opponent’s next moves.

Harry’s abilities on this score have proved lacking these past few years. Moments of self-interested shrewdness, yes; but there’s nothing strategic or particularly anchored in reality on show.

MrsLeonFarrell · 24/04/2026 11:55

PS

I don't think Harry understands what a life of service is. He seems to think that it involves him showing up and shaking hands with the less fortunate, in between giving the same speech at multiple events for money of course, resulting in 100% positive press and public acclaimation.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/04/2026 11:58

To me "humanitarian" is some other people ascribe to you , it doesn't sit easily with me for someone to describe themselves as such

I thoroughly agree, @BasiliskStare, but if H&M imagine that dipping into utter tastelessness will lend them a little lustre then that's what'll happen

And yes, @bluegreygreen, many of us also remember Vanity Fair's failed attempt to identify anything which would merit the description. I used to ask the same question right at the start and never got any answers either, beyond the predictable snark as to whether I'd ask the same question about a white woman

Not2identifying · 24/04/2026 12:24

I'm pretty sure Diana was awarded 'Humanitarian of the Year' by an organisation in the year before her death so Harry will like the link with the word...

Yes, it seems like Harry never quite got the memo that the point of the RF turning up at events was not for people to look at them, but so that they could shine a light on those people and organisations who were carrying out important work.

Re Richard Eden: I don't agree with everything he says, but I think he has picked up on something that is either missed or ignored by other (more left-leaning) publications. There were some in the Labour party who were happy to support H&M against the RF, partly because they saw them as against the establishment (and therefore by default useful to the republican cause); partly because their exit was at the height of the 'MeToo' protest arc.
I suspect it wasn't entirely a coincidence that Harry was on the same train to Ukraine as Yvette Cooper last year.
I also think this may be complicating the RF's management of the Sussexes - that the government and the RF may not be on the same page. However, if Harry keeps inserting himself into politics, he may do himself some harm here.

Sadly they have been awarded three humanitarian awards - most recently in Oct in NY for Project Healthy Minds they were given “Humanitarians of the Year”.

Then in 2022 NAACP given the Presidents Award for their social justice work.

and most memorably in 2022 the Ripple
of Hope for human rights advocacy.

PoppysAunt · 24/04/2026 12:42

The Ripple of Hope Award... wasn't that awarded for challenging racism in the RF? Which then Harry said wasn't true and made up by the UK media?

PoppysAunt · 24/04/2026 12:43

I'm disappointed with the NAACP on this occasion. Such a fine organisation with an extraordinary legacy.

Yes you're right. That rather blows a hole in my argument below the plimsoll ;line. 😊

Mind you , H was given a legend of Aviation award so I'm clinging on to the wreckage.

I was looking at that picture of Harry on the previous page. It’s quite some time since we saw him looking as polished as he is on it.

My thoughts (a bit random as it's early and pre-coffee)

  1. IF H&M ever came back to rejoin the RF, in any capacity, there would be enough gawpers and forelock-tuggers to make a sizeable crown cheering them on to disguise any negativity so they will think they're popular.
  1. A&L will never pose any problem to the RF because they live in the US where titles are meaningless. They will never party with their RF cousins or attend royal events so will not be relevant. What they get up to in the US will not reflect on the RF as they will never be seen as royal regardless of their titles. Removing them would be seen as spiteful and vindictive when the long game will do the trick.

Coffee time ☕️

Yes titles are meaningless in the US…….those “meaningless” titles managed to get a reported 100 million dollar Netflix deal, a 20 million dollar Spotify deal, book deals with Penguin Random House, a one on one interview with Oprah, I could go on, in @Thedom excerpts from an insider they stated the only reason they got these deals was because of their titles so to say they mean nothing in the US is very naive, they clearly do, and you can bet your house Archie and Lily with their grasping parents pushing their buttons will grift those titles for all their worth. Who cares if the RF are seen as spiteful? Only the die hard H&M fans will be crying a river, majority of people will think about bloody time.

Then I 'am very naive'. Or it could be a difference of opinion? My children in their late 40s have no interest in L&A and scant in H&M, my GC in their late teens have no interest in H&M or L&A. They will be irrelevant, titled or not (oh, IMO!)

It's one of those weird situations where Trump actually appears sensible and lucid. I completely agreed with his points, and I don't think I've ever said that before.

It's a tough one isn't it, I was like that when he came out saying "no men in womens sports" I felt like the world had turned on it's axis 😂

Yes, I agree.

I watched a You Tube video on the 'Her Best Life Retreat' in the insomniac early hours from a die hard Sussex fan and scanned the comments, and they are all bloody crackers IMO.

They have the nerve to talk about British people 'cap doffing'?! It's these Sussex stans demonstrating hardcore idol worship, deference and obsequiousness. And all of this is because these two clowns DO have coveted titles in the coveted USA.

(And some of the stans are well rewarded, obviously.)

Exactly and the fact that Meghan Markle has only achieved US/worldwide fame through her title proves my point, the titles aren’t meaningless in the US at all the titles equal fame, attention and 💵💵💵 as If Oprah would have been interested in plain old Meghan Markle!

Rachel's You Tube channel that I mentioned earlier.

Invictus: Where Is All the Money Going?

Rachel the Pilot is suspicious of the nearly $11 million for accommodation and catering plus a lot of other things. Of course we're all having to guess at the detail behind the headlines because Invictus aren't saying. But she has an interesting theory or two about where the money's going.

s

Her website that takes the piss out of A Server:

Thanks for this, been down a rabbit hole with this one.
Interesting that since posting this video Invictus have removed the Vancouver games budget information from their website, wonder why? Maybe just a coincidence!

I agree about the idol worship, @TheAutumnCrow, but is it really because of the titles or that some see them as "sticking it to the man" and naturally side with people they perceive to be victimised?

I’m pretty sure quite a few of Meghan's more ardent fans have expressed the opinion that she should be bumped up the LOS and be made Queen. So, no, I don’t think it’s supporting the underdog in this case 😆

I think a tiny proportion are but the US is vast. I doubt that Harry or Meghan are even in the top 100 of nationally recognised faces. Even here the majority are pretty indifferent it must be far worse there.

Fair point. They do seem to have their fans, though.
