PR Disasters of the The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continued :

  • So far we have Meg using charity events/sick children/vulnerable adults to merch her fashion, with the launch of her new fashion platform
  • She will be appearing on MasterChef Australia
  • Harry claiming to have had therapy when Archie was born, even though he never sought MH help for his ill wife a few short months earlier.

William has been very lucky. The Middletons seem like a solid, loving family. Harry has Doria, which I guess is something. Mind you, she seems to have gone off the reservation 🙄

Perhaps she’ll do a Doria candle for Mothers Day? Let’s face it she doesn’t have a single other family member (blood, in laws or extended) that shes still on good terms with who she can monetise……

My respect for her would go up a fraction if she did, but you know she won’t, as D isn’t Royal enough to be interesting.

Ferryl · 20/04/2026 19:45

I thought candles were no-go areas these days unless made from beeswax?

Also, I’m pretty sure most 7 year old boys would be mortified that their mum was bringing out a scented candle with their name..:full title and everything, to the world. Can you imagine the kids at school and the ribbing he would get?!

What on earth are they thinking by exposing their kids like this.

What on earth are they thinking by exposing their kids like this?
Simples ….. $$$$$$$
Absolutely anything goes if it generates money, from ghastly twerking videos to exploiting your kids. No scruples and no class.

Going back To M's Q&A at the Retreat. This is all she had to say about Archie's personality - that he loves Meghan. “Archie is so tender – no one told me how much boys love their mothers”.
Other peoples main characteristic is that they love her. Hasnt she said similar about Harry taking about how much he loves her and never vice versa.

She’s married to Harry and had no idea how much boys love their mothers? I’d have thought having to give birth with a photo of the MiL on the bedside table would be a bit of a clue. Maybe Meghan needs to read that passage in Spare about the frozen todger and the Elizabeth Arden cream.

What ? H had a photo of Diana with him while Meg gave birth ?? That's absolutely absurd

Oh yes and they put the pregnancy test next to a photo of Diana so it would come up positive.

Tiddlywinks63 · 20/04/2026 20:16

Starryfifty · 20/04/2026 15:10

I just don't think H has the self awareness. As far as he's concerned, he's a Prince and a Duke. He's better than anyone else and he should be paid, revered simply for existing

Just like his uncle.
I don’t think Harry has one iota of just how pathetic he is, a whinging, middle aged, unemployed individual who thinks everyone else owes him a living.
He simply doesn’t see how unedifying a spectacle he has become.
And his narcissistic, vacuous wife isn’t far behind him.

Truth is often stranger than fiction. & I think a large part of Spare was fiction ( or H's truth - same thing ) . But H does seem to have co-opted Diana for himself - so I do agree with @noonames "She’s married to Harry and had no idea how much boys love their mothers?"

I note we don't have quite the same Fathers and daughters Shakespeare trope in public utterances.

Oh, the Diana stuff in Spare was off the scale. The Elizabeth Arden cream, the picture with the pregnancy test, the picture in the labour room, oh so it goes on. When I read it, I thought how can Meghan stand this in the marriage?

canklesmctacotits · 20/04/2026 20:47

Re the timing of the release of the new kiddie candles: I did gasp out loud (again). It’s as though the whole Australian “tour” was to drum up publicity - photos, podcasts, TV news segments, radio phone ins etc - to culminate in the purchase of these candles. She’s not getting traction off her Instagram page; her collabs aren’t working; there’s no more Netflix shows. I get As ever ads on my FB feed periodically but short of billboards how else can she publicise As Ever?

It’ll be interesting to see if the Aussie publicity actually results in sales.

BasiliskStare · 20/04/2026 20:50

I wonder if @MissFenellaPrism whether the Diana fairy dust combined with the Prince of the Realm fairy dust actually helps Meghan stand things in the marriage. 😊

To be serious I do hope the pair of them are completely in love. But we do hear a lot more from H about his mother than W. & M doesn't seem to mind.

Who knows, it just seemed to cross a line for me. There was a box with hair in it as well.

Ffs. That's just disturbing. Or is he just plugging Diana's legacy for cash/publicity ??

Meghan doesn't mind because - and excuse my bluntness - her MIL is dead and no longer competition for Harry's attention. Diana can be whatever Harry imagines her to be (and with these revelations, it seems to be a combination of a sainted guardian angel and a fairy godmother)! The reality, had she lived, would likely have been rather different - after all, Harry's flair for the dramatic was very much inherited from his mother. I think that it would have made Victoria Beckham with Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz's relationship look close!

Also, Diana had form for being unpleasant to young women who arrived on the scene - she was not at all welcoming to Sophie. I doubt that she would have been an easy MIL.

A box with her hair in it??? At a practical level I wonder how likely that is? H was 12 when she died - did someone request clippings of her hair after her death? That seems very strange, and unlikely to have been something a 12 year old would have thought of, though I suppose it's possible it came into his hands at a later date. But is it likely someone took hair clippings? IIRC Paul Burrell laid her out, in Paris, he used to like to talk about dressing her in a special new dress. I think after she came back and the coffin was at Kensington Palace he remained in charge. (Do correct me, I'm going by memory and can't be bothered to check). I can't see him taking locks of hair on that day after her death when he laid her out. And surely neither he nor anyone else would have opened a coffin to do so.
Or had she gifted some locks of her hair in life?

I honestly find it unlikely.

MissFenellaPrism · 20/04/2026 22:02

He said he kept the hair in a box in the nightstand and it helped them conceive Archie.

I did read an excerpt. H was very critical of William's looks and stated he no longer liked like Diana. Very very odd

StartupRepair · 20/04/2026 22:14

One of Diana's sisters took hair clippings for the boys when she went to the hospital in Paris with Charles.

Really? How odd. I think it's very distasteful. At best a bit Victorian - they used to like mourning lockets with locks of hair in.
