And why wear shoes like this when you need a pedicure?

This is what I don't understand, does she really believe things are going to turn her way, any day now? That the public are suddenly going to wake up and realise how wonderful she is, and how wrong they've been?

I'm no more a psychologist than I am a lawyer, @OtherS, but can only suppose that recognising what's been done is just too much for either - Harry more so since he had much more to lose

It's true they could still have lovely lives even without the camera's glare and silly tinsel, but as with many empty people it's clear Meghan's obsesssed with it and, if it comes to a more modest existence, I'll be amazed if it's together

As is oft trotted out on MN, comparison is the thief of joy. Indeed M could have had the best life, living in a grand house, servants, dressed by the finest houses, galas etc etc. But no. Second on the call sheet to Kate? No way. So there was all the business of “joint rulers with William” nonsense and the request (demand?) to live in Windsor Castle.

Again they could have lived modestly but well in California - but no, it’s got to be fame and hobnobbing with A Listers.

It’s a combination of Undine Spragg (as previously discussed on these threads - marvellous book!) and a bitter and bored Spare (see many other historical examples).

Wearing the same colour dress as the main star cannot have been an accident. I can think of two ways this happened:

1. It was an intentional choice by Meghan. How on earth did she know what colour Carey would be wearing? Maybe a stylist let slip what she had recently helped Carey to choose and M had a 💡lightbulb moment? Or maybe she happened to be shopping in the same boutique that Carey had been to and the assistant said something like CM chose a beautiful chartreuse dress like this one, it would be a great colour for you… Somehow she must have heard.

2.It was a genuine mistake on Meghan’s part. Could it be a stylist set her up? I doubt M is the only mean girl in Hollywood.

Here's a variant on the first. The guests were issued with a dress code, which was monochrome, to contrast with the star's chartreuse. All the other guests followed the dress code. Meghan ignored it and chose to dress in the same colour as the star.

Or it was a last minute invitation by Ted. Him (or his people) saying, why don't you come, and we'll take some pics, and we'll put the rumour of a feud between us to bed? The theme is X, the party is for Carey, she'll be wearing Y and everyone else needs to wear Z. All Meghan heard is that the star of the party would be wearing Y. And nobody is allowed to eclipse Meghan.

It was breathtakingly arrogant to do that . Clearly she felt that SHE should be the star . Unfortunately for her , Carey looks fabulous while Meghan doesn’t.
One thing- I doubt M bought the dress . The fact it was so badly fitted suggests she borrowed it .
I wonder if she insisted on being announced to the rest of the guests……

The difference between Carey's and Meghan's outfits, is like the difference between the Christmas tree you bring home on December 18th, and the one you throw out on 6th January.

I think she looks ill coupled with looking quite manic. Truly weird.

Her feet are hideous.

I’ve thought that about a lot of her appearances in the past year.

To me she seems to be getting increasingly more manic, desperate to hang onto any limelight she can get. It’s like watching a slow unraveling of reality.

It's because she's so loving and free-spirited. You just don't appreciate it because you're cold and uptight, like Catherine. Maybe you're British too, we're just culturally inferior to the wonderfully open and warm-hearted Meghan. Apparently.

Ultimately that little scheme backfired - it meant there was no chance of her being photographed within ten yards of a true Hollywood star, no chance to pretend a close friendship there.
Didn’t she have Carey in one of her archetypes podcasts? Did Carey offend her in someway leaving her with a score to settle, or is she offended not to be included in Carey’s social circle?
Who knows. But it’s been pointed out Carey has three children and there are no photos of them on the internet. I doubt CM is in thrall to the Harkles.

Carey was not on Archetypes. I imagine she wouldn't be seen dead getting into the MM/H drama circle. I think this is Ted Sarandos giving an olive branch to the Sussexes with a pity invitation, and of course, like everything they touch, it's turned to shit.

CM is class, MM just isn’t.

OH THE IRONY of the 'family table that invites everyone in', from the people who are at loggerheads with almost all their family members. Does no one think of this?

I did wonder but saw it written somewhere and google AI said she was in the slot with Mariah Carey. I think AI must have been confused by the two Carey’s.
I did wonder what would induce CM to stoop so low!
