Interestingly any Australian police presence will be decided on by the police assessment of their security needs after being given due notice by the Sussexes - exactly what they complain about so much about in Britain.

And the Australian tax payer will be footing the bill for their jolly

https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2192584/taxpayers-cover-part-harry-meghans

I thought they had specifically stated that the trip was being privately funded?

TheAutumnCrow · 10/04/2026 23:47

Harry seems to act as though the charities of which he is a ‘founding patron’ (meaning that the palace machines set these complicated things up for him) are his personal possessions to own, manipulate and trash as he chooses.

He seems devoid of understanding of his fiduciary and legal duties and responsibilities. It’s as though he inverts it and expects, for example, Sentebale to have obligations toward him.

It appears that they lied.

Yes they did, but that clearly isn’t true.

Cyber bullying 😬 you couldn't make it up could you? After all the Sussex preachings ..

"The proceedings have been brought against Prince Harry and Mark Dyer, identified through evidence as the architects of that adverse media campaign, which has had significant viral impact and triggered an onslaught of cyber-bullying directed at the charity and its leadership."

Actually, as patron, Harry has no legal or fiduciary duties as they lie with the trustees. That's what makes his ignorance of how it works all the more vexing: he treats Sentebale and Invictus as his playthings, leaving others to pick up the pieces. His complaints about being faced in Japan with having to address an audience of 2,000 and a dinner for 250 when he was expecting just one, smaller audience (see Tom Bower's latest book) suggest that he doesn't understand either that the role of patron is to generate good will towards the charity so people support it. Without courtiers to support him, he's like a fish flailing on the quayside, spluttering to no useful effect.

BasiliskStare · 11/04/2026 00:08

I'm not qualified enough to know but I think at least one "friend of Harry" from school days talked about the Sentebale situation in various print media ( was it Alex Rayner ? ) . Whether this is the sort of thing they will be looking at , I don't know . It didn't paint SC is a good light.

Yes, didn't he say Sophie was jealous of Meghan or some such?

That was the same friend that spoke to the media a couple of weeks ago about it being unfair and ‘spiteful’ to expect Harry to pay for his own security.

Agree @IdaGlossop.

It's also one reason I frequently wonder about African Parks - he's a director there. Does he really understand that it's quite a different role and he has real responsibilities?

Interesting, I wonder if that is an indication he has been approved for security by RAVEC.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. (One eye on Artemis II! Brain not functioning.) I’ll try again!

Harry has a responsibility as a person to exercise reasonable duty of care, especially as he’s apparently dialling in to Board meetings, to these charities not to divert funds in certain ways to other entities, as has been alleged, for his own benefit. There are open statements online that he tried to divert donations from Sentebale to Archewell. He’s never sued.

And yes, he is a Director of African Parks and has been for a few years.

Wasn’t it something like she wasn’t the most important black woman in the room now?

It’s what he currently gets in the UK, isn’t it? Bespoke security if 28 days’ notice is given by H, judged according to the assessed risk?

But why would he get the same treatment in Australia? Do other celebs get police security when they visit Australia in a private capacity?

Also watching Artemis II here!

'All the systems in excellent shape.'

I'm honestly not sure.

I suppose it's about public safety. But do the Australian police really think that H/M will draw a crowd? I don't. They had to invent the crowds and press packs for their Netflix flight of fantasy, appropriating them from other events (Harry Potter premiere, Kate Pirice court appearance).

20 minutes to go!

BasiliskStare · 11/04/2026 00:49

It's a bit of a rubbish analogy but H and his charities , without the guiding hand of BP advisors , reminds me slightly of a small child who's had the stabilisers taken off their bicycle but doesn't have the parent running behind them to make sure they can catch them when they wobble.

(Although as we all know , because Harry Said So , he didn't go bicycle riding with his Dad when he was a kid 😉)

gishgalloping · 11/04/2026 00:52

According to the Sydney Morning Herald the NSW and Victorian police will just be applying their usual protocols. Most of their appearances will be private, ticketed events so policing needs will likely not be high.

That was nerve-wracking! I'm old enough to just remember Apollo 11 and the first moon landing, and now here we are with Artemis II starting a whole new phase.

bluegreygreen · 11/04/2026 01:25

It must be so stressful in Mission Control in that 6 minute blackout.

Quite amusing that they can communicate clearly at the moon but are struggling with SAT phones to talk to the recovery teams.
