It’s just such a bizarre thing to lie about when everybody knows she has no background in Hollywood production, weird 🤷‍♀️
Equally weird to rely on the NF connection when they have just ditched her so publicly 😬

She’s an actress? I think that counts.

7th on a cable show call list is not producing now is it! She's a beautiful woman and she was ok in suits but she was aging (for Hollywood) and had missed any chance of making it big. She has and had no production credits.

How so? Acting is not production and Toronto is not Hollywood, a different role in a different place. She’s no more experienced in Hollywood production than someone in Coronation Street. (Unless you count the Netflix stuff, aka sticking her name on tv shows made by other people and claiming an exec credit.)

I would love to know that!

So the ‘wait list’ is basically a shop counter, where you say what you want, how many of it you want, and you pay for it? But with a timed 2 hour wait to make it look good? (Which it doesn’t.)

At what point does the money change hands, I wonder.

I think it’s also a semi vetting process - I saw something on twitter where someone said they had to write a paragraph about why they wanted the tickets, they gushed about how much they love Meghan and lo and behold some tickets were available.

I suspect this is one of her criteria to try and avoid having anyone other than adoring fans present.

Traditionally EPs secure funding, attract more funding, have creative control, ensure production stays on budget/time, acting as a liaison between studio and project. Nowadays they're often called "show runners".

You often see the stars of shows getting EP credits - it's a way for them to get more money (through residuals/backend profits) and to have more personal creative control over their role in the show.

It's often a way for bigger stars to get passion projects off the ground. Sometimes it's a vanity title or a way to keep a star happy and is in name only.

There are two types , in the case of someone like Stephen Spielberg, give active support, ideas , funding and gravitas , in the case of Harry and Meghan, slap their name on a finished project and steal the glory.

Yes, and a bit of creative control over their costars too.

At a crude level, "Producer" is someone doing the work whilst "Executive Producer" for one of the show talents is often a bonus thrown in in later seasons to increase salary/retain stars and give them a bit of control.

Didn't SJP wield a bit of power over Kim Cattrell when she was an EP of SATC, relying to sex scenes etc?

What does an Executive Producer actually do ?

I read an interview with Larry Hagman during the halcyon days of "Dallas". He was made an Executive Producer so that the actual production company (Lorimar?) could give him an individual salary increase without the legal necessity of flow on salary increases to his co-stars. I got the impression that this was the first time it had happened. Now it seems to be commonplace.

TheAutumnCrow · 29/03/2026 06:09

The best example of a British aristocrat who made it big in Hollywood is IMO Christopher Guest, aka 5th Baron Hayden-Guest. He’s worked hard as an actor, is a gifted writer, and has turned his hand to directing and, once, producing. He made contacts the hard way through graft and talent.

One of his creations is Nigel ‘turn it up to 11’ Tufnell from This is Spinal Tap. He impressed Rob Reiner, and has a long cv. Lord and Lady Hayden-Guest (Jamie Lee Curtis) don’t use their titles in the US.

Another Hollywood TV star who put in the work (and also knew Rob Reiner) is Noah Wyle. His new venture, The Pitt, is a very successful series (on HBO I think?) and he stars, directs and co-writes it. Talent, and graft.

H&M don’t bring any of that to the table. They are not writers, they are not directors, they have a bewilderingly scatter-gun work ethic and no focus.

LondonRidge · 29/03/2026 07:07

They’re so delusional. Add this to the long line of flops that either no one watched or they abandoned half way through.

Surely history has taught them that giving themselves a grand title doesn’t convey them any actual skills or talents. And that “announcing themselves” too early just invites ridicule. Better to finish something and surprise people than to conjure up yet another grandiose idea only for it to publicly fail and expose their lack of ability.

Between them they are utterly useless, right? (To mirror Harry’s frustrating habit that indicates he expects you to agree with everything he says).

But hey, it gives her something else she can reel off on a talk show. At least they’ve realised they need a script now as no one wants to listen to them.., that’s the only glimmer of hope they have.

Honestyboxy · 29/03/2026 07:16

They both seem completely deluded. She in particular seems to believe that anything she makes up about herself will just be accepted as truth with no scrutiny. He truly seems to believe that he lives a life of ‘service’. The problem is he’s only serving himself and Meghan.

TheAutumnCrow · 29/03/2026 07:24

Meghan was doing the ‘riiight?’ malarkey all the way through the Oprah interview. There’s a transcript of the interview online and I CTRL-F’ed it for a laugh and she said it loads of times, often at the end of what subsequently transpired to be untrue, riiiight? That’s how it works, riiiight?

I wonder if Harry started mirroring her or if he always did it too.

pilates · 29/03/2026 09:05

I would imagine you would need excellent communication and negotiating skills to be a good executive producer which Meghan struggles with. 🤔

TheAutumnCrow · 29/03/2026 12:33

LondonRidge · 29/03/2026 07:31

Good point

I've just rechecked the Oprah interview transcript. (I'm bored, humour me.)

Meghan says 'right?' 22 times. Harry says it 5 times (he comes in near the end of the interview). So they were already both doing it and mirroring each other back then in March 2021.

TheAutumnCrow · 29/03/2026 12:41

God that interview with Oprah really was the most egregious, disingenuous crap, looking at the transcript through the lens (see what I did there?) of what we now know.

This bit - see how Oprah deflects when Harry contradicts what Meghan said earlier. See how they all deflect and move on in a few seconds, led by Oprah glossing over the glaring contradiction. See how Harry bullshits about 'that conversation' - badly.

Oprah: Well, what is particularly striking is what Meghan shared with us earlier, is that no one wants to admit that there’s anything about race or that race has played a role in the trolling and the vitriol, and yet Meghan shared with us that there was a conversation with you about Archie’s skin tone.
Harry: Mm-hmm.
Oprah: What was that conversation?
Harry: That conversation I’m never going to share, but at the time . . . at the time, it was awkward. I was a bit shocked.
Oprah: Can you . . . can you tell us what the question was?
Harry: No. I don’t . . . I’m not comfortable with sharing that.
Oprah: OK.
Harry: But that was . . . that was right at the beginning, right?
Oprah: Like, what will the baby look like?
Harry: Yeah, what will the kids look like?
Oprah: What will the kids look like?
Harry: But that was right at the beginning, when she wasn’t going to get security, when members of my family were suggesting that she carries on acting, because there was not enough money to pay for her, and all this sort of stuff. Like, there was some real obvious signs before we even got married that this was going to be really hard.
Oprah: So, in conclusion, if you’d had the support, you’d still be there?
Harry: Without question.
Meghan: Yeah.

The source of the transcript is here, with the warning that's it's published by the Sun.

By shifting into scripted content that utilizes Harry’s niche expertise and Meghan’s background in Hollywood production, they’re finally carving out a lane that feels sustainable.

Ah.

What does MM ‘background in Hollywood production’ entail?

Is this going to be a scripted reality series or is it just going to rip-off Jilly Cooper's Rivals on Disney+?

Maybe it’s a Hallmark-style ripoff.

Given what happened, I think the suggestion that she carried on acting was made because it quite quickly became apparent that she wouldn't cut it as a working royal and 'continuing her acting career' would give her a respectable way out.

I wouldn't put money on this latest initiative ever coming to fruition. Or not unless their names are just there to attract publicity and other people are doing the real work.
