This is the third thread discussing the case Prince Harry (and 6 others) are bringing against the Daily Mail (Associated Newspapers) for alleged unlawful information gathering (UIG).

Thread 1

Thread 2

Since the celebrities have given evidence, there has been limited direct reporting from court; what there is has mostly been on this link
Sky News link to court case

Actually it’s just their luck that they happened to have got out just before it all kicked off.. Whilst I obviously wish them no harm I do wish they had got stuck there for a bit. It might have taught them a lesson and made them a bit more cautious in the future. Maybe they’d have realised that doing all these tours in the absence of the full protection afforded to official Royal tours through foreign office diplomacy etc is a bit unwise.
As it is I doubt they have given it a thought. 🙄

It’s this sort of post which is so very anti H&M which shows the true intention of some of the posters here.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 03/03/2026 08:49

This thread is about ANL and the court case. Nothing else, loads of threads for everything else.

I don't wish being stuck in a war zone on anyone. It would have been even more dangerous if it was known that they were stuck there.

TheAutumnCrow · 03/03/2026 09:12

Anyone knows who’s in the witness box today? Is it Katy Nicholl’s turn? I expect she’ll be glad to get it done and out of the way - she’s recovering (hopefully) from a lot of medical issues. (She’s talked about these issues herself.)

ThePoshUns · 03/03/2026 09:21

Can we ignore the derails? This has been such a good thread so far. Looking forward to updates from court later.

bluegreygreen · 03/03/2026 09:36

It would be good if we could keep this thread to the court case: there are other threads to discuss the Sussexes, and while we have different opinions on them, it shouldn't stop us being able to discuss this case.

I've mentioned a couple of times the different take from the Press Gazette reporting. I wasn't expecting to feel sorry for the young Rebecca English (she always comes across as so professional and competent any time I've heard her speak).

“My practice is to investigate and research stories myself. It did not occur to me that others might not be doing the same thing. I had never heard of hacking until the arrest of Clive Goodman in 2006 and was shocked to find out that was how the News of the World had been getting stories.
“My editors would ask why I wasn’t getting the same stories and I had thought at the time that I simply wasn’t as good a journalist or as well connected. I only realised later, when the news of Clive Goodman’s arrest broke, that we were not on the same playing field. This was deeply upsetting.”

The PA schedule has another journalist, Nicole Lampert, who was showbiz editor for the Mail in the mid-Noughties, giving evidence today.

bluegreygreen · 03/03/2026 10:45

Thanks @PrayForMyBum - appreciate you keeping us informed. Has RE finished her evidence?

If you read through the posts again, you will see that the majority do not mention Prince Harry. My focus is on David Sherborne, Hugh Grant and Evan Harris because I know they are lying when they claim the leaked information must have come from phone hacking or other illegal means.

However, I would add that Prince Harry saying no one around the camp fire would have leaked information was a particularly stupid thing to say. No one can ever be 100% certain.

Thedom · 03/03/2026 11:00

There is truth in the saying ‘It’s not a secret anymore if you tell one other person’. If you yourself are unable to keep your own secret, how can you believe someone else will.

You clearly have inside information, will you ever be able to disclose it publicly ?

Yes - but am currently being gagged

Thedom · 03/03/2026 11:09

That’s awful, people with deep pockets and expensive lawyers, hope you eventually are heard.

Also, does it even have to be one of his friends who told?

I might be wrong but my assumption is that this campfire was probably at a luxury safari lodge somewhere, and likely there were staff also around to cater to the prince and his privileged friends. One of them could easily have told the press.

Ohpleeeease · 03/03/2026 11:29

It’s really not necessary to be so rude, @kirinm.

the camp fire one, where he told three friends he was in love with Chelsey was unlikely to be staff nor phone hacking. But the one where they went to a resort, the media were told by staff who were getting the place ready, same when she accompanied him to Argentina.

You totally fixated on H & M and said ‘the true intention of some of the posters’. With all due respect, I only pointed out to you that the majority of posters are following the case and noting the lack of evidence from ALL the complainants.

Thank you!

Very deep pockets but one of the gaggers is now at risk of a £multi million bill for breach of contract. Apologies for being cryptic but I am preparing for my time to speak out 😊

Is there really any need to be quite so rude!

Does this relate to the court case you mentioned on a previous thread @GwendolineFairfax8?

I believe yes it definitely does 👍

@GwendolineFairfax8 Monday 11th May in my diary, I hope it goes well. It is exactly why we need a free press, well connected people find it so easy to gag mere mortals and frankly get away with all sorts. I do not agree with phone hacking or other UIG but the current claimants are hoping to gag all/any reporting that is not fawning over them. Oh and to get a huge pay out while keeping their names in the press (oxygen) the very thing they say traumatises them!!! couldnt make it up could you.
