This is the third thread discussing the case Prince Harry (and 6 others) are bringing against the Daily Mail (Associated Newspapers) for alleged unlawful information gathering (UIG).

Thread 1

Thread 2

Since the celebrities have given evidence, there has been limited direct reporting from court; what there is has mostly been on this link

Agree @binkie163.

The fact the information has been sent to a couple of people, and wasn't used, indicated it wasn't information that was originally requested by the DM.
The line of questioning also suggests that, as there's no indication that they have evidence (e.g. emails) of any request.

I would love to read the original article to see how it was written. I wonder if it is available anywhere,

"Mr Sherborne said Prince Harry had told the court he would not have shared such “intimate information” with strangers"

Does Sherborne really not appreciate how ridiculous this sounds when Harry's done precisely that in his book and interviews?

Okay so he was getting paid then, but the lawyer didn't caveat it with "He might share info for money"; he said Harry doesn't do it full stop, and that makes no sense at all

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 02/03/2026 18:03

Thanks for the updates and especially the cut and paste- it is difficult to read links so appreciate all the additional information.

You have to search day by day, and try not to fall down a rabbit-hole. There are lots of mentions mid-month, with extensive input from Mr Davy.

@craftygin, thanks so much, haven’t found the Harry one, but it’s an interesting look at headlines around that time.

He’s really got a thing about resurrecting his own love life and the names of all his ex girlfriends, hasn’t he?

I’d never heard of some of them. Till now.

elessar · 02/03/2026 21:00

What I find interesting is Harry’s (and others) insistence that so much of this super private information must have come from voicemails.

I know it was a different time, but were people really in the habit of ringing people up and leaving lots of detailed and interesting voicemails discussing deeply personal things? Surely it’s far more likely to have been something you got overheard talking about in person, than that you happened to leave a voicemail about it and that voicemail was hacked.

TheAutumnCrow · 02/03/2026 21:10

I agree with that, @elessar. And even I knew to change the PIN number for accessing voicemail back then in the early ‘noughties’.

Not really relevant to this thread, but I do wonder what would have been the situation for the Sussexes, if they had still been in Jordan when the strikes started.

Also, that little information was shared at the group campfire, but all on voicemail.

Surely that's what you do at campfires - talk and talk into the small hours. That's what happened in my campfire days. You share secrets, tell ghost stories, etc.

It would have been just their luck wouldn't it? I suppose they would have been stuck with everyone else.

BemusedAmerican · 02/03/2026 22:18

They would have thrown a hissy fit at the UK Consulate, and if that didn't work, done the same to the American one

NewAgeNewMe · 02/03/2026 22:20

most likely.

Thank you for saying this, as my voicemail memories consist of someone saying it's so and so, call me. No one left long messages.

Too true! , there was a cut off , how many times I ended up with only half my mother’s rambling , I can’t recall.

Actually it’s just their luck that they happened to have got out just before it all kicked off.. Whilst I obviously wish them no harm I do wish they had got stuck there for a bit. It might have taught them a lesson and made them a bit more cautious in the future. Maybe they’d have realised that doing all these tours in the absence of the full protection afforded to official Royal tours through foreign office diplomacy etc is a bit unwise.
As it is I doubt they have given it a thought. 🙄

What a fucked up thing to think let alone say. Anyone else you’d like stuck in a potential war zone or just these two?
