What is likely to happen to the Sussexes?

When the money stops flowing in? They are finished as a brand, MM has nothing original to offer and is tainted with the toxicity that has surrounded them. She personally has ‘bullying’ allegations and high staff turnover as well as her blatant dishonesty. There is evidence that they are no good at making podcasts / documentaries etc so no big income there. There is increasing ‘interest’ from US authorities into their financial dealings … what next? Surely KC3 won’t fund them, so how will they keep going?

Hope they will learn from uncle Andrew's example and stop accepting 'gifts' from random billionaires (Tyler Perry?) to live a lifestyle they can't afford...

Baital · 12/02/2026 08:00

I expect they will have to downsize, like anyone living above their means.

I don't expect the money will 'run out' in the way it would for those of us without trust funds - there will be plenty for a very comfortable lifestyle, but not their current lifestyle.

And you know they are living above their means how?

it’s been a good three years of people wishing a lifestyle downgrade on H&M and it’s so funny to me.

It really bothers folks lol

YourBreezyPanda · 12/02/2026 08:26

General question, what is it about their lifestyle that people think H&M can’t afford? they pay a mortgage like everyone else - so what about it deserves downgrading.

StillHereLol · 12/02/2026 08:36

I think people are just concerned that they aren’t living rent free like the rest of the royals and actually pay a mortgage like the rest of us. Must seem a bizarre concept for the royalists that a son of the monarch is paying his own way.

You can be sure M wouldn’t be touting herself around as she is if they could afford their current lifestyle. Harry wouldn’t be doing meaningless speaking engagements. Neither would he have written Spare.
Their costs must be enormous. The security alone must be mind boggling expensive never mind the bills involved in paying all those staff, and running a huge house with pool.
All the designer clothes and the private jets. I assume their kids are at private schools too.

Touting herself around? She went to Sundance for a docuseries they are producing and recently to the 15 per cent pledge event. That’s standard for working celebrities. Yes, Harry is doing speaking engagements for money (however useless you find them) - as he should. It’s called earning a living. Good for them both.

Paying his own way with the money he got from his parents?

Paying his own way with the money he got from his parents?

Yes and didn’t he complain he had been cut off financially at the age of 36 and having a good whine about it despite knowing he had a sizable inheritance. I think he almost felt people should feel sorry for him.

Inheritance from his dead mum.

StillHereLol · 12/02/2026 08:53

Maybe the money Charles gave Harry is a loan like the money he gave to Andrew to pay off Virginia.

Exactly, before he was ‘cut off’ (which was subsequently proven to be a lie) Charles was giving him around 2million a year from the Duchy of Cornwall funds.

Nice pocket money when all your expenses are covered.

And he made his girlfriend buy a sofa on her credit card 😏

Edited

Oh she would have HATED that. Buying them their own sofa was certainly not what she signed up for. When you marry into money and fame you should be guaranteed to be set up for life! What a disappointment Harry will have been to her. Hence her wish to get out to LA where she can get given more cash and be invited to the parties she was excluded from before.

I just don’t get it. Their mortgage or financial status is none of our business.

They are probably far richer than most of us on here so people are not posting out of concern.

Therefore it must be that posters are just hoping gleefully that they have to downsize and get their “comeuppance” as they see it. Everyone waiting for a sign that they may be moving so they can rub their hands and say “I told you so”.

It’s up to everyone on here how they get their kicks, but honestly, coming from a bunch of grown women, it’s a bit pathetic isn’t it?

H&M have two small kids and I hope they are happy and I don’t give a crap where they live, or wherever they may move eventually or whatever. And given what’s gone on in the RF over the past few weeks, I bet they are mightily glad they got out when they did.

Oh I definitely hope she fails. Shes based her money making entirely on her title so hasn't earned it herself. And she shafted the woman who gave her that title. Biting the hand that feeds you never works well.

What I think they should do is go to Africa where Harry is happy and live their life quietly out there with those two children. I bet that would be a wonderful contented life for at least three of the four of them. She had her chance to live their lives her way and it hasn't really worked out if you are looking for authenticity and organic happiness (ahem).

This absolutely

I think there's bigger fish to fry at the moment than whether harry and meghan are defaulting on their mortgage 🤣. So strange that some people who just cannot stand them are so so interested in their finances.
I don't care!
Such a good move that they left and aren't having to deal with the complete shitshow going on at the moment.
(Don't need the statement saying they didn't want to leave, please not again! 🤣. Whatever the circumstances, they left.)

Taking a step back from the Royal Family is fine. I hope they eventually make a success of their business ventures.
If their income declines then they will have a few options, such as Meghan's turn to write HER book, but whether it will get as much money from potential publishers is doubtful. They would want some more juicy titbits not already written about in 'Spare'. Or a second book from Harry, maybe.
If money becomes tight, they could downsize to a smaller and more manageable residence, though I am sure they would consider this a public failure, and think they would do the first option.
Would Harry (with or without Meghan) return to the Royal Family?
Probably not. Theyve made it clear they are living their best life.
If Harry were to return, I do not think he would return to being a 'working royal'. That is, he would not be on the balcony or represent the Government in any way (state banquets, etc).
He might be invited to family events, such as summer at Balmoral (but I think that already happened, at least at first, anyway).
Would the family, and especially William, ever trust either Harry or Meghan again? I very much doubt it, and with that in mind, I think any family events are likely to be thin on the ground.

I agree with a lot of this. It is now more than 6 years since H and M flounced off after Meghan’s few months as a working Royal preceded by a brief engagement ( when apparently everyone and everything was wonderful). What else is there to say if she were to write The Spare’s Wife? Would anyone believe her given her tenuous relationship with the truth ?
If they are living their best lives why is Harry so keen to reconcile ? If we are to believe him, the RF ( especially Camilla and William) made his life a misery and Catherine caused Meghan so much distress by not giving her a lift to the shops and being reluctant to share her lipgloss.

A paedo who was protected btw.

Yes, by his mother, Our Queen !!

Charles is constantly blamed but he was under ‘the say- so’ of his mother, until 2022.

Harry has said he wants reconciliation with his Father who’s ill with cancer. Personally I think it’s silly after all he’s said but that doesn’t mean he wants to return to being a working royal.
