Thoughts on Beatrice & Eugenie re the Epstein scandal?

For a long time, I felt sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie. I thought they were just caught up in their parents’ mess, paying the price for Andrew and Sarah’s awful judgement. Poor girls, wrong family, wrong parents, etc.

But new reports have really shifted that for me. Leaked emails suggest Sarah Ferguson was “the first to celebrate” Jeffrey Epstein’s release from prison, and apparently did so with both daughters in tow. At the time, Beatrice was around 20 and Eugenie 19 - not children. Fully grown young adults.

And this wasn’t before everything came out. Epstein had already been to prison by then. They would have known who he was, why he was jailed, and what sort of man he was. He wasn’t some vague family friend with rumours - he was a convicted sex offender. Many of his victims were the same age as them.

I’m finding it hard to buy the idea that they were completely clueless or had no understanding of what was going on. Yes, parental pressure is real, and Fergie’s judgement is notoriously dreadful - but at 19 and 20, you’re old enough to know that celebrating a paedophile’s release is deeply wrong.

So are they really as innocent as they’re often portrayed?

I do wonder how attractive these girls were to suitors as the daughters of a prince. Neither were particularly comely.

I don’t know what that has to do with the price of fish. They are perfectly decent looking - I think Eugenie is very pretty actually, well connected, well educated. They had a lot going for them.

i can’t help but feel sorry for them. They have been utterly mortified and there is no suggestion of any wrong doing on their part. I don’t think the rest of the royal family would have kept them within the fold if there was any suggestion of financial funny stuff. It seems to be a clear decision on the part of the RF. E and B are in and Sarah and Andrew are absolutely out.

There is. Have you been able to RTFT?

Yes I have and I don’t really see how they have done anything illegal.

I just find it hard to believe that any woman wouldn’t be absolutely horrified that their dad was involved with the abuse of girls younger than them at the time. It is so disturbing.

But only time will tell I guess.

How do you know that? Only a matter of a couple of weeks ago Beatrice was photographed with her child and Andrew horse riding. That doesn't show them being utterly mortified. Personally I imagine they are embarrassed about all of this but whether it goes as far as being mortified I have no idea

And both of them have been travelling to the Middle East very recently, no low key heads down for them.

They have received large sums of money and expensive gifts from their father's associates. It's all in the Lownie book. As we know Charles himself isn't averse to accepting carrier bags stuffed full of cash so it's not likely that their greed would lead to them being kept out of the fold!

We know money has moved their way. Whether or not this turns out to be legal or illegal depends in part on what has been found or might be found when the police sift through Andrew's belongings.

As with Father Ted, money has been ‘resting’ in accounts. Father Ted is on his own though in being funny, adorable and having a heart of gold.
