Gosh, they’re absolutely fantastic dancers, aren’t they?

I suppose when Meg was studying for her degree in International Relations and Theater she will have been taught to be a great singer and dancer as well as being an actor and astute politico.

It would be fantastic to see her on Dancing With The Stars, or The Masked Singer, or perhaps starring in a US version of Celebrity Traitors, with Harry cheering her on. I would definitely subscribe to that.

That's was nasty there's no need to take the piss like that 😂

Baital · 17/01/2026 22:39

The claim that Lilibet (how old is she now? 4?) filmed it is odd.

And it's neither spontaneous (stepping on each other's toes sometimes and giggling about it) nor polished (this is what we do for fun every week, we can respond to each other's moves).

So neither fish, nor fowl, nor good red herring.

I've never been completely sure about that saying, but AI assures me it means something unsuitable for any purpose.

Which makes sense. It isn't spontaneous fun. It isn't a polished routine. It doesn't exhibit intimacy.

I am confused about the message and purpose.

Of course, not everything has to have a purpose. But as they have taken the trouble to record and upload it, they must have had a reason. But I can't work out what they are trying to achieve.

I was dancing round with some friends earlier (not a frequent event!) and none of us recorded it or uploaded it. We were just having fun. So I assume it had a meaning or purpose for H&M. But I have no ideas what the meaning or purpose was

Attention, any crumbs of attention, as Warren Beatty said to Madonna

She doesn't want to live off-camera, much less talk. There's nothing to say off-camera. Why would you say something if it's off-camera? What point is there existing?"

Baital · 17/01/2026 23:10

I think that's why I find them so unlikeable. And probably why their 'brand' is bombing.

Because - why?

Making money, sure. Not saint-like, but human.

Making a societal change you are passionate about - i respect, I may or may not agree depending on the change. But if you are consistent in your values and statements (I.e. not people like Trump or Farage) then I can respect it even if I disagree. Some caveats, of course 😃 but basically welcome different views in a civil debate

But attention for the sake of attention? That seems deeply dysfunctional to me. Get into therapy - proper therapy and look at WHY that matters to you.

What so confusing? Its been explained a few times they were joining in on the 2016 challenge? Trend? That lots of people have been doing. A social media 'viral moment whatever its called that happens alot.

Ive just seen one of the djs I follow post his 2016 moment. Its actually really nice a throwback to looking at what you were doing 10yrs ago.

Thats what its about, thats the purpose and the why. Still confused?

Plenty of people go out dancing and don't take videos, plenty of people do.

I think that people are a bit confused about the "this is what we were doing 10 years ago" - because 10 years ago Meghan was living with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello (although there were rumours of an overlap between Cory and Harry)

Some people are saying it is a nod to their wedding dance but then that doesn't fit with the 2016 thing.

Papercompany · 18/01/2026 01:08

I don't believe that a four year old filmed it... I think they say that to include her and get more headlines. M set it up and H is going along with it...it's meh.

Tezza1 · 18/01/2026 03:39

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/01/2026 18:35

I think you mean Rory McGrath, separated at birth! Though to be fair to Rory he has a far better head of hair.

Is that Badvoc(?) from the great Chemsford 134 (145? whatever?).

Tezza1 · 18/01/2026 03:46

And, my goodness, they look like doppelgangers. Spooky.

StrawberryWasp · 17/01/2026 17:43

I thought Catherine's video was cringe. Too much superficial sweetness for my taste.

This dancing video is also cringe. Dancing with your husband in the garden is nice. But posting it to show how loved up you are. And it being obvious you staged it for social media. Is just cringe.

I think anyone performing their relationship for consumption by others is very very unhealthy.
Particularly from this pair of doofuses who claim to be concerned about social media and mental health.

I disliked Catherine’s video but I didn’t have an issue with this one.

I agree about disliking performative sm posts but there has been a lot of nasty speculation about H&M’s marriage, so maybe this is their response? I don’t blame them if so.

Catherine and William started engaging in a lot more PDA in public when there was speculation about their marriage too.

It must be hard not letting nasty rumours get to you. Usually no response is best but I can understand why they do it and none of us really knows how crap it must feel to constantly listen to people speculating about your marriage on podcasts or so called news programmes.

Leave them alone I say. If you don’t like it, you have the choice to scroll on by!

SingedSoul · 18/01/2026 06:19

Why are people so bothered by a couple of complete strangers, that don't affect them in anyway. It's crazy how much people read into banal moments. If the general public ignored them they would fade away, but then everyone will have to find someone else to bitterly & blithley hate.

Snowballing Bandwagon

Many couples have rumours about their relationships floating around. Most learn to ignore it and certainly don't feel the need to 'respond' by posting a twee video where one of them looks like someone just pulled his puppy dog's tail. Why give complete strangers on the internet such power over your sense of well being?

Also, didn't Meghan say that media gossip is just 'noise' which she ignores, preferring to read The Economist?

Thedom · 18/01/2026 08:22

……while continually checking the view counts on her video.

Jbum · 18/01/2026 08:24

They aren't responding to rumours or speculation about their marriage.

They are jumping on a viral trend like so many others have. Thats it. For them in 2016 its when they started dated, they decided to recreate their wedding dance to symbolise it along with a picture.

There is no clap back its not done to prove how loved up they are and all the silly comments made.

This is what social media used to be aboit back q0yrs ago it was for fun things, viral moments, sharing content and feeling more connected...thats what this trend is about, looking back to simpler times, when Facebook, Snapchat etc was about fun filters and it was all just abit of a laugh

10yrs later ergo today look at what has happened to social media its no longer those things, now you have trolling, nasty comments, cancelling people etc. Theres a darker side to it that didn't really exist 10yrs ago.

This viral trend is just on the back of the heels of lasy yrs trend of the 90s stuff coming back, with the col and all doom and gloom its not surprising people are.looking back to those yrs when it felt like things were better, simpler, easier and texh was exciting and new. .they probably werent but its nostalgic

Thedom · 18/01/2026 08:26

Why are posters so concerned about what other people discuss ?
Why do they think they can tell strangers on a public forum what to discuss and watch?
Why don’t they just scroll on by from discussions that annoy them ?

🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Your first three paragraphs are very definite. How can you claim this? Do you work for them or have they told you this? Or are YOU just rumouring and speculating?

CurlewKate · 18/01/2026 08:32

Just in case anyone is interested in the meme, here’s wiki on the subject…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_is_the_new_2016

Thedom · 18/01/2026 08:34

It is a weird one though because for the first 5 or 6 months of 2016 she was living with her chef boyfriend, was she cheating on him with Harry? Is that what she means by the ‘if you know you know’ comment.

They literally created a post titled 2016/2026...which is the viral trend right now...

I dont need to know them they have made it clear thats what the post is about. Its not me speculating.

Its speculation to inflate their post to mean they are just clapping back at rumours of their marriage or to show they have loved up they are...

Its just a viral trend post as they have clearly stated in the description of the post

But they do affect me - they actually make me laugh on a daily basis.

Nearly every day they serve up some pantomime nonsense to entertain us all.

It’s quite delicious watching a couple of grandiose, delusional, grifting bullies desperately making absolute tits of themselves.

Well, exactly! Some people watch Eastenders. Other people collect matchboxes.

It's entertaining.

Yes in 2016 she was still with Cory, having a fling with Rory McIlroy, then she found Harry. Quite a busy year for her, no wonder she can recall it so well.
