Royal helicopters and William

So, not seen any threads on this - the story broke at the start of the week that the two new helicopters the RF took ownership of at the start of last year have already flown the distance of twice round the world. Anne is the biggest user and the explanation has been to allow multiple engagements on the same day and to allow secure access to more remote locations.

But in that, there was a detail about Prince William, last year he took the helicopter 52 times between Kensington palace and their new windsor home. Now, this is only about an 1 hour drive. There are regular train services between central London and Windsor. While the headline focus has been on the multiple uses for engagements on the same day by Anne (which to be clear I don’t begrudge if that’s the only practical way to do it), this travelling between your two homes that aren’t that far apart by helicopter feels excessive for someone who’s work is supposed to be focussed on the environment.

Has anyone seen this Royal Albert Hall video of Will and Kate?

He is well ahead of her, not walking with her until the cameras are in view just as they enter!

You need to stop linking gossip from a hate sub from Reddit, it’s not something that happens here .
You are aware for every sub and untrue gossip about w and c , there are twice as many about h and m?

or are you deliberately goading posters to link from hate subs about Meghan in retaliation!

Presumably she is talking to someone in the lobby and he’s waiting for her on the stairs. Honestly really grasping at straws here.

I was wondering what this had to do with this thread, and then I realised you must have posted it to show that William and Catherine are not “helicoptering” each other. Genius 🙄

Ohpleeeease · 14/01/2026 11:24

Thank goodness, we’re back to royal visits where the principals don’t cling to each other like limpits but instead split up and talk to different people so everyone gets a look in.

I dont think there is a right way or wrong way. Depends on the couple, some are touchy feely and others less so. Some inbetween. Some royal families in Europe hold hands too im thinking of Denmark and Spain here.

Everyone has their own preference on public displays of affection, some dont mind it, others dont like it

Couldn't agree more!

That Reddit sub is a Catherine hate site, full of bots and Sussex fans.

bluegreygreen · 14/01/2026 13:03

Short clips of videos can be made to suggest anything.

The video of the couple arriving at the Royal Albert Hall a few minutes before showed Catherine getting out of the car first and walking towards the reception committee while William caught up.

Did this have some deeper meaning (she was leaving him behind?!) or was it quite simply that she got out of the car door closer to the entrance?

The issue isn’t public displays of affection, it’s being able to talk to more members of the public, listen to their stories and make them feel appreciated for their contribution.

Two people who won’t let go of each other don’t offer the same breadth of cover.

BemusedAmerican · 14/01/2026 15:46

If they only walked around holding hands, Catherine would criticized for not standing on her own feet, and William would be called controlling.

Public appearances are their job. They are working and have to split up to cover the most people.

I'm now (unfortunately) seeing this on TT with the SS desperately trying to recycle the old vile rumours about W&C.

Wonder if something is about to break that they're trying to distract from?

simpsonthecat · 14/01/2026 22:46

What is TT?
I don't read all this rubbish

MrsFinkelstein · 14/01/2026 22:50

TikTok. And despite my best efforts to get my algorithm back on track to funny animal videos, beach holidays, baking clips and restaurant suggestions I've been subjected to 5 different accounts peddling the same shite about divorce, separation, DV and scars.

I'm off it now for a few days to let it reset.

simpsonthecat · 14/01/2026 22:53

Ahhh right, I'm a dinosaur for not realising! I'm not on it anyway 🙂

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 15/01/2026 17:35

I’m not sure what the people who post about this think would be the benefit for William to have left Kate, to be living a separate life and seeing the children with a shared custody arrangement, yet pretending in public they are still together for official events. I could see why if wanted to stay together for the dcs they might share a household but separate bedrooms. I could see why she might want to stay as PofW/keep the status, but I can’t see what’s in it for him to not just get divorced.

So I’m calling bullshit on this one.

I mean, I think its bullshit too, based on one video clip. But William has a lot invested in the marriage too. They have an image as a family and the future of the Monarchy. Neither of them would want to risk jeopardising that for any more scandals. I cant see any benefit to either of them of divorce.

tobesuretobesureagain · 15/01/2026 21:06

Is this what it's come to? Posting links to Reddit etc?

roses2 · 18/01/2026 18:33

Tattle life is the same, apparently a separation announcement is imminent. All the forums see to be very anti W&K whereas one year ago they were very pro.

Whilst I think there is no love anymore, I really doubt there will be any formal separation because that would be the final nail in the coffin for the monarchy and people will loose interest and call for an end to workshy kings and queens.

And given the Wales went on a skiing trip last year with plenty of non UK newspapers publicising photos showing K actively skiing in February 2025 there is no excuse to blame cancer, tiredness etc for only doing 43 engagements in the whole of 2025 - telephone calls and video calls count as engagements.

After linking what you have and now admitting to getting your information from hate subs peddling made up gossip, I don’t think any reasonable person on this forum, whether they be supportive of h and m or w and c , are going to set much store by your opinion.

BoxingHare · 18/01/2026 18:51

Honestly, I've never heard so much bollocks.

All because a woman chooses not to wear her engagement ring every waking moment.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 18/01/2026 18:51

Sorry but if the royal family can survive Charles and Diana divorcing and then Charles marrying the universally hated OW, it could cope with William and Catherine separating. Especially as Catherine clearly doesn’t enjoy the limelight, actively avoids public engagements bar the bare minimum- she would disappear off with her money and not bother much with embarrassing the royals with good works with cameras in tow.

The gossip sites might be full of the idea they have split up but it’s not likely.

Completely agree.

What do some people want, them slavering all over each other as proof?

EmpressSisi · 18/01/2026 18:57

What a load of old shite 🤣

bluegreygreen · 18/01/2026 19:00

Reddit, Tattle etc are forms of social media - if that's the sort of thing you're looking for, that's what you'll find.

And having had cancer treatment in the last year, some at the same time as the Princess of Wales, my husband is the only member of my family who has any idea of my current recovery and energy levels.
