2026 predictions

Anyone care to make some RF predictions for 2026 ? ( slightly lighthearted)
I will start .

Liam McGuire will leave .
Harry will lose his Court case(s)

I don’t know how anyone can assert that posters who criticise current Royals have an agenda & can’t possibly have an independent opinion. It’s illogical & yet 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do you think of the poster describing specific posters as " obsessive" ? Would you think that should be reported and deleted too?

And rounding on posters who don’t!

And for the record, I have been posting on Mumsnet, with a few breaks, from 2002, so hardly new.

There are simply more posters here who dislike the constant negativity towards H&M, or who have more of a Republican mindset, or who want a drastically slimmed down monarchy with far more accountability and transparency - we are not all the same - than there were previously because they feel more at liberty to post thanks to the Andrew MBW scandals and , thanks to authors like Lownie, because they are becoming more aware and knowledgeable about the way the RF PR machine works and the way it covers things up.

It’s not some grand conspiracy and people who disagree with you aren’t all part of some homogenous club!

I suspect monarchists have their feathers ruffled at the moment because things are not going all their way for once.

Also, of I may say so politely, it is getting increasingly irritating on threads like this when certain monarchists, usually the same ones, takes it upon themselves to police posters and ask them to justify why they are posting, just because they happen to hold a different view to you.

If you have a problem with a certain post then please report it to Mumsnet HQ.

Surely you have access to a report button? Presumably you have also reported the posts accusing others of being bots? If not why not? Would that not be somewhat hypocritical?

That is what is so nonsensical about this board!

And they often veer into bullying imo simply because you have the nerve to say something negative. It can’t possibly be a genuine opinion 😆

This just seems to be a deflection by someone who can't answer a point. Debate is seen as " arguing".

The hypothesis that there are only x number of HM threads is an interesting one.

This thread isn't specifically HM but became one. The Sandringham church walk wasn't about them but became about them, the animal cruelty thread about WC didn't have a single response about what it was about before it became about HM.

And so on and so on.

Many many threads that are not about HM become about them because they are derailed.

It's deliberate. It's immature. It's tedious. It's reductive.

Clearly we have very different definitions of debate and rude so imo discussion is moot.

Facts are facts though, of the top 10 threads on this board only two are specifically about H and M ( and other royals are mentioned there too) and this one about predictions, so that means that 7 ( if we are being generous) or 8 ( if we are being honest) are about other royals or all of them!
just as posters mention other royals on h and m threads so do posters mention them on non h and m threads , people posts what they want .
facts are facts though! 🤷‍♀️

off the top of my head …. I predict… unsavoury practices coming out about the court case ……possibly a divorce or separation……more royal tours ( official and unofficial) …..more statements….more security complaints.

To return to predictions (in an ideal world);

**Our MPs will get braver and continue to lobby Parliament until the Trade Envoy papers are published unredacted and we get to the bottom of who hid them and why!

**The National Crime Agency will pick up the file that Andrew Lownie has compiled on AMW (some of it unpublished for legal reasons) and use it as the basis on which to prosecute him for fraud and corruption in public office (if the sex abuse charges are too difficult to prosecute)

**That MPs will vote to instigate an official Register for the RF through which they must record all financial and other gifts

**That MPs will vote to abolish internal enquiries within the royal household and appoint a fully independent body of retired judges and civil servants to officiate instead with an agreement that summaries will be made public if fraud or criminality are proven.

**That there is proper debate in the HoC over the agreed tradition which prevents discussion of the RF in the HofC - yes, bit of a tricky one 😃 - to clarify which royals this covers precisely, with a view to changing this practice so that matters of public interest can be discussed especially when it comes to matters of alleged criminality, financial impropriety, or poor behaviour in office.

*That there is a proper debate in the HoC over the tradition of King’s Consent which allows the monarchy first notification and view of any legislation going through parliament which may impact on the financial position of the RF, ahead of MPs which frankly seems undemocratic.

**That MPs generally start growing a spine and start asking difficult questions!
