The royal family

Christmas Day walk in Sandringham

This is such a strange thing....so the royal family walk along a stretch of path every year and people gather to watch them. These people try to talk to the Wales children and give them presents. They are photographing the children, taking selfies, etc. I think the kids are far too young to do this. It is so odd.

How on earth do William & Catherine think this is okay?!

Harry is relevant as he talked about hating the media attention as a child, and as he was the first generation of the intense media attention, he’s a good learning opportunity for the Wales children.

Also very relevant as posters have defended William and Catherine’s terrible decision to take the children on this walk because apparently they need to get used to it as it will be their jobs. Well it is reasonable to assume this will be George’s job but preparing Charlotte to dedicate her life to supporting her older brother is a really shitty decision.

She shouldn’t need to get used to it. As an adult if she chooses to work as a royal, then she can get media training in the same way anyone who marries in can. She does not need to learn this as a child. Her mother didn’t and coped fine.

Hope it’s the last year the children join the walk, surely W&C should protect their dcs.

Charlotte will always be relevant as she will always be the next in line until George has a child. She will always be photographed regardless of what " job" she does. I'm very sure they are not making her " dedicate her life " to George - an extreme suggestion. As for Harry being the poster boy for media attention? William had the same exposure as Harry. You cannot make generalisations about people. It's the old nature v nurture debate.

They're like any other influencers using their kids for likes.

They know they need fans to keep the money coming.

So true & brand Beckham shows the resentment that can result from ruthlessly monetising your offspring.

TatianaTwinkletoes · 01/01/2026 15:46

I thought the Telegraph article raised some good points, particularly exploring just how things have changed regarding coverage of the RF in recent years - with
"Each snippet played out over only a few seconds. Before the era of camera phones, none would even have registered in the public consciousness."
I think W&C are doing an excellent job getting their children used to being in the spotlight so that all the public and media attention wouldnt be so traumatic as they get older, and each photograph held up as 'proof' of some random yet confident assertion of the RF's behaviour.

cockandbullstories · 01/01/2026 17:46

While certain people will say " what do they have to do this?" I can't help but think about the Sussex children and the teasing shots given by their mother. One day they will be photographed. As it is fans post ridiculous images of the Sussex family online. I saw this the other day.

Pathetic people who worship others because of their birth. You have to feel sorry for them, really.

wordler · 01/01/2026 18:17

I looked back and Charlotte did her first Christmas walk in 2019 when she was four. She was given a pink flamingo toy by a lady in a wheelchair and gave a hug in return. Catherine was right next to her.

So they’ve had six years to discuss with their kids what they feel comfortable doing when interacting with the public. Including the inevitable security services advice and briefings.

It does seem to be getting bigger each year - it will be interesting to see if they need to start limiting numbers at some point. I imagine the vibe changing as the kids get older and people stop bringing teddies and selection boxes.

Why are you posting ridiculous AI images?

You think they are ridiculous too, yet you seem quite happy to put them on here. Why?

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 01/01/2026 19:03

@wordler- you miss the point. It doesn’t matter if the children say they feel ok with it, parents shouldn’t use their dcs for good publicity, which this is. They shouldn’t be training their dcs for an adult job they aren’t old enough to fully understand what they would be committing to.

it’s bad parenting to take the children to any official events they aren’t weddings/funerals of close family members. It is not good parenting to raise them in the public eye.

CurlewKate · 01/01/2026 19:22

What was the point of the AI image?

I disagree that it’s bad parenting - it’s a choice they have made that seems to be working for them.

They clearly work hard to protect their kids from many of the difficult parts of their role. They kept Catherine’s cancer out of the media until they could help the children process it, they spend a lot more time privately as a family on a day to day basis than any heir/monarch has done before, despite all the criticism that brings them.

These children are not going to have a ‘normal’ life by accident of their birth.

All these famous families exploiting their kids for money and attention would say it's a choice that is working for them.
This is what keeps the luxury lifestyle going. Doesn't make it good parenting.

I'm sure you don't mean to be so rude (do you?) but this is exactly what Harry talks about with people posting photos of children - what happens to them, where they end up and the use of AI. He spoke about this in a podcast. This may well be the result of the teasing of the images of the Sussex children. As people say there are " mad fans " out there and here we have only one example of it . There are many more of him and his " children". You see despite your rudeness there is indeed relevance to the topic of children and exposure to the public and the media. I'm surprised you didn't immediately see the relevance.

It’s not just Harry, Meghan and their children that have crazy fans making AI images of them. That’s why all of the children should be protected more.

It certainly makes more sense than Harry stating his much younger children will be involved in Archwell Philanthropies 🤷‍♀️

None of it is ok. Harry and Meghan and William and Kate are both using their children for publicity and they are both wrong. I feel sorry for all of the children.

It isn't rude to repeat what you said. Ridiculous images. Your words. And you choose to repost them on here which I find awful.

Report my post if you don't like it.

Saying it is relevant, absolutely not. You can talk about AI images if you so wish but to choose to post these ridiculous images (your words) is too much in my opinion

Well back at you but I'm still baffled as to how you can't see the production of AI photos of Harry's children by desperate fans who have seen parts of faces, bodies and backs of heads is not related to exposure of children be it in the flesh or on Meghan's Instagram. These fans worship Meghan and Harry and this is the result. To repeat Harry has discussed this very thing on his last podcast.

EnterQueene · 01/01/2026 21:13

Posting AI generated images of children is odd & unnecessary.

You aren't reading my posts properly. It is the fact you chose to repost it on here. On a parenting forum.
Do you know... I saw AI footage of little Louis doing break dancing or something similarly awful - would I post it on here? No I would not. I would not dream of it. I won't give awful stuff like that oxygen, unlike you. Because I think it is absolutely dreadful that young children are manipulated into AI footage.
So it applies to desperate William and Kate fans too. And their children.

DurinsBane · 01/01/2026 21:15

CathyorClaire · 28/12/2025 11:11

It's all a bit at odds with the six mile exclusion zone imposed around the latest forever home isn't it?

Where did you read that?

cockandbullstories · 01/01/2026 21:16

He seems a bit confused though because of course you share them - the photos - privately as opposed to on Instagram.

Yes I am reading your posts very clearly and its intention. You and I will have to agree to disagree on this point. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as you highlighted earlier. You are not the thread monitor. You just don't like the fact that Harry and Meghan drive this traffic as well by their social media postings. You are trying to divert from this factual point by trying to make me out to be some kind of beast 😂 as you don't have a factual response. 🤷‍♀️

As do Kate & William. Unfortunately. People are odd and as I say using AI for this purpose whoever the children are is very wrong IMO.

Someone started a thread a while back with the wales children doing the macarena. I reported it

I don't think you are a beast! We just don't agree, I can live with that
