No I'm not being sarcastic

I think he's a natural with off the cuff remarks

Noseyoldcow · 04/12/2025 10:21

What a twit. And has he really had 7 years of therapy to get over the loss of his mother? Not a good advert for therapy then, is he?

That performance was so stilted. He certainly doesn't have comedic timing 😂

BemusedAmerican · 04/12/2025 11:24

People in the audience were booing him. The show is in NYC. Most NYC residents didn't vote for Trump. That's why Trump has been threatening us with the National Guard. What would have been really funny is if some real ICE agents walked on set and hauled Harry off to discuss his visa.

I'm also really sick of Colbert reminding us that he is Catholic. I was raised Catholic. I don't think Jesus would have liked Colbert bearing false witness against Prince William. I hope he enjoys unemployment.

According to a previous interview with Harry, he told his kids that his job was helping people. So what's he done to help people in Toronto and NYC?

No need to cringe, he got a standing ovation when he turned up!

Yeah, thanks to the audience cue cards for fake audience reactions, ‘laugh’ ‘clap’ ‘whoop’ ‘stand up’ .

It’s interesting you say that because the American press feel very different and are handing his arse to him on a plate

More like helping himself. I think it’s fair to say the American dream is over for the pair of them

Can you link some examples because I’d like to read them, please?

I heard Harry made a joke about America having elected a king.

Which isn’t far off the mark if Trump gets his way. Trump has reposted AI images of himself wearing a crown and obviously anticipates himself as a king (albeit the dictator type, not the constitutional monarchy type). A lot of the media is bending the knee to Trump at the moment and never write about the images of Trump as King when ever he posts them. It’s quite frightening. So, I’m wondering what press is ‘handing Harry his arse on a plate’? I’d like to know.

Look at the New York post, Page 6 etc. They really are not hard to find. and people are NOT happy and you should read the comments section. The American media has been criticising them for a while. Plus he was booed in the studio

Any other media doing so. Page 6 is not actually serious journalism. Nowhere near it, in my opinion. It’s Murdoch’s equivalent of the Daily Mail.

Thank you. I’ll have a look.

He was booed in the studio. It was funny and part of the skit. The Colbert audience boo whenever Trump is mentioned in any way. It’s part of the show.

I wasn’t just talking about his tit like performance on this program. Honestly! I’m talking about the American media in general. You fans really do see just want you want to see

CaneBasket · 04/12/2025 23:21

you mistake me for a fan..

Because I want to read something before I form an opinion on it?

I can countenance media criticising anyone but I like to read it myself first to see what they’ve written to form my opinion before I pass my opinion on.

You don’t do that it seems.

I think Harry saying that Americans are obsessed with royalty is very cringey. I really don't think they are? A huge country I know but I wouldn't have thought titles carry much weight there?

I also think that he should just shave his head - it would look...less distracting..

And apparently he didn't allow cameras at the estate agent thing but here he is on a TV show? And finally what would Harry know about real estate? He has lived in 'free houses' for most of his life. He has inherited millions and could have bought the Californian house outright possibly.

Harry dancing with the TV host - I'd love to know what someone like Ricky Gervais would have to say about that.

I agree. It's inaccurate to make any sweeping statements about the US. It's such a vast country and encompasses many different viewpoints. I'm sure Harry went down well with Colbert's audience demographic but that doesn't indicate widespread support anymore that Fox News (for example) having a go at him would indicate widespread disapproval. If anyone wants to sum up a US wide reaction to nearly anyone the most accurate term would probably be indifference. There are yays and nays but most would fall into don't know.
