Where does Andrew get his money from?

This is an ongoing topic where Andrew's income remains a mystery for the most part, but according to the BBC sometimes court cases involving other people mention him.

This particular court case talks about a payment made a few months after the Maitlis interview. And also mentions two payments made to Eugenie who said it was a birthday gift from a family friend - the money paying for a party for her mother. All £25,000 of it!!!

Apparently he didn't inherit much from the Queen or the Queen mother. So this is an excellent question!

BreadInCaptivity · 24/10/2025 18:26

Possible answer: Anywhere he can regardless of the ethics?

CoucouCat · 24/10/2025 18:27

An excellent question. I do not know what scrutiny his accounts come under. I thought the Queen always bailed Sarah F out so I assumed on the quiet she just put her hand in her very very deep pockets.

CrimsonStoat · 24/10/2025 18:31

This article also confirms that Eugenie at least is also in on the family grifting.

I know the whole family do it, but you'd think one or two might have more scruples, but it seems not.

Brown envelopes, probably.

ShenandoahRiver · 24/10/2025 18:34

Is Peter Phillips subbed by Anne?
Wonder how much he made from the Chinese milk ad.

Topseyt123 · 24/10/2025 18:38

I think it is a very good question and I would love to see any answers. I'll not be holding my breath though.

Whatever external sources of income he has, I am sure many will be very sleazy.

How can we know?

GelatoForMe · 24/10/2025 18:42

our country's pocket

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/10/2025 18:58

The glaring omission from the story of the £60,000 "gift" is what it was given for, and once again I suspect we wouldn't enjoy the answer ... not that either Andrew or Gleave are likely to offer one

This is the problem with Primogeniture, unless first born male you get bugger all and rely on hand outs from sibling or grift your arse off.
Ann and Edward learnt to cut their cloth but Andrew is greedy and so is his wife, if the family won't give him what he wants he is happy to ponce off rich people and compromise himself.
Harry is a weasel and the same. I am not sure how I would feel if I was completely passed over for my elder sibling. I would have a side hustle.
Spares really should be set up with their own money/business to be self sufficient. However in both Andrew and Harry they are too dim and lazy to be successful.

TheAutumnCrow · 24/10/2025 20:14

I really hope there is some serious scrutiny now of the whole York family’s financial dealings now, while the public mood is strong enough to tip the balance toward such action in parliament.

By ‘parliament’ I’m including the select committee. Its chair Meg Hillier indicated she could timetable sessions in the new year.

Iwanttoliveinagardencentre · 24/10/2025 20:18

The filth just keeps coming about Andrew doesn’t it?
I think clarity on his finances are essential if the country is to retain any respect for the rest of the RF.
It may not be any of their doing but it is up to them to help clear it up.

BemusedAmerican · 24/10/2025 20:25

Does anyone know how much is allocated each month for corgi care?

ShenandoahRiver · 24/10/2025 20:28

The finances of the whole family should be scrutinised- not just the Yorks. Don’t forget Charles getting bags of cash, Fawcett the Fence etc..

CrimsonStoat · 24/10/2025 20:29

This article's from 16 years ago and relates to the inflated price that was paid for Sunninghill.

"Andrew must have thought his lucky day had come after the mansion had been on the market for five years. The sum paid was £3m more than the asking price and even more than the £10m he had been advised it would fetch."

Lots of reference here to Kazakhstan, did we ever find out just exactly who bought it?

Son of Kazakh president apparently...now why would he pay above the odds to Andrew?

Both Andrew and Harry had careers in the armed forces. This could be regarded as a side hustle?

Apparently he didn't inherit much from the Queen or the Queen mother. So this is an excellent question!

That might mean he inherited £50m instead of the £5bn or whatever Charles and William got! It's the royal family, chances are they are just as rich - or richer since it is kept such a big secret - than Trump, Gates, Bezos, Musk etc.

CharlieKirkRIP · 24/10/2025 21:53

How has Prince Andrew earned his money?

Another uncertainty is how the royal has been able to generate his income, as it's believed that his only source of income is from his pension for when he served in the Royal Navy; which is worth £20,000 a year. While Andrew was cut off from the Sovereign Grant when he stepped away from his royal duties, the BBC reveals that beforehand, Andrew would have been able to earn a salary of £250,000.
In 2022, Andrew sold a luxury chalet in Verbier to British financier Philip Muelder for either "on or near" the asking price of £20 million. Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, had purchased the property in 2014 from Isabelle de Rouvre, who was a friend of the pair at the time. Similarly, in 2007, Andrew sold his Sunninghill Park home to Timor Kulibayev, who was the son-in-law of the then President of Kazakhstan, for £15 million.

Andrew Lownie, who wrote a joint biography of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson indicated that some of the royal's funds may have come through connections that he made as a result of his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The Times reports him as saying: "As the duke himself admitted in his Newsnight interview, Jeffrey Epstein introduced him to useful business contacts.
"He also developed lucrative connections in Central Asia and the Middle East during his ten years as special representative for trade and investment. There have long been concerns about how he has since used those contacts. Now he is no longer a working royal, there is far less scrutiny of his business activities — but it is an area that needs to be looked at."

That could easily explain why there's no official appetite for investigating Andrew

As with the removal of titles, once a principle's established there'll always be a risk of it spreading

bellocchild · 24/10/2025 21:59

Who pays for Andrew's staff?

ShenandoahRiver · 24/10/2025 22:00

@Puzzledandpissedoff
Yes - you are right.
William will be hoping that once the York scandal is dead and buried, normal service will resume and no more questions will be asked.
I very much hope that doesn’t happen.
The RF have many questions to answer.
