Jamaican PM Holness told King Charles that he did not invite Harry and Meghan to Marley Premier

H&M created a diplomatic issue for the head of government of one of KC3's realms, to the extent that PM Holness called KC3 to clarify that Holness had not invited H&M to the Marley premier and was in fact blindsided by the duo.

And therein lies the issue with the so-called reconciliation. H is a loose cannon. KC3 has enabled H for his lifetime and has protected H by keeping news of the Holness call under wraps. It was the Jamaican side that has put this news out there.

If H gets his meeting and then sprints to the nearest TV camera to use "King Pa" to access other individuals and subsequently causes havoc for UK international relations...then "King Pa" will only have himself to blame for failing to put his country above his personal desires.

I have always said that H&M would eventually cause a diplomatic incident too big for KC3 to contain. Well...there it is.

Jamaican PM 'called King to say they'd not told him they were coming'

Jamaica's ambassador for culture to the UK, told The MOS that Harry and Meghan's appearance at the premiere of Bob Marley biopic caused a diplomatic dilemma for Andrew Holness.

Watched the Jamaica video. Am I imagining things, or was their bodyguard given one of the seats with the water? 😄

Do you know what doughnuts Bob Marley liked best? Ones with Jammin!

It is quite the fall from grace for the pair. The fact that the Paramount CEO chose to leave them outside the VIP area speaks volumes.

Perhaps the CEO was worried about tales being sold to the media...similar to the Courtney Cox brownie-gate incident.

I wonder why he invited them if his intention was to humiliate them ?

Slightyamusedandsilly · 09/09/2025 08:53

So what? Who cares who invited them? Someone did. They went. All good.

What is the fuss about? Why is this media worthy?

PM of insignificant country overreacts to tourists going to cinema.

Must be a slow news day.

You think Jamaica is an insignificant country?

It isn't. It's just anything for clicks

I think the UK is rather insignificant these days. On a world stage. Jamaica has never been on it. Without this (probably made up) story nobody would have even known that they went to a premiere in Jamaica, and nobody even knew there had been a premiere in Jamaica.

I just checked on Sky News, for example, and their archive contains 20 stories over the last two years. It is mentioned in one this year - about whether the UK should pay slave reparations. Last August a story about a shark attack. Then going backwards 7 about Hurricane Beryl, one about a lizard specimen being returned from Scotland, one about H&M at the premiere, one about a prize fighter, one about a British man being found dead (that is Novmeber 2023), 3 about becoming a republic soon.... this is really not the stuff of international diplomacy.

I'm sure it is a very nice place with great people. Lots of places are. Doesn't make them significant in world affairs. Had this ridiculous story not conveniently emerged to coincide with the visit to the UK, nobody would have been any the wiser, and if the PM of Jamaica was remotely embarassed then (which I doubt) then he will much more so be now that it is in the papers!

You are entitled to your opinion. Luckily everyone else is entitled to their own opinion and it doesn't have to be yours.

How sad it is that some people choose to diminish a sovereign country in order to defend their favorites.

Says it all really.
