You say Diana was exposed to domestic violence in her early years @Madchest
Where did you read that ?
I’m wondering as I thought I had read of it too.
I always think that Diana’s mother was much maligned for leaving the marriage and her children, but if she was fleeing domestic violence and she did go to Court to try and get custody of the children but was up against the Establishment and her own mother who sided with Earl Spencer., and she lost.
Two of her daughters and her son are still alive but I don’t think they have spoken publicly about it.

Onthemaintrunkline · 09/09/2025 10:08

I’ve just finished the book today. It’s left a nasty taste, the behaviours of both PA and SF I think have been almost unbelievable. The waste, the pomposity, if what we read is true, is mind blowing. The amount of cash that flowed in and out between both of them, the questionable deals, the greed, show how seriously out of touch they are.

And SF lauding her mothering skills….seems to me she was seldom home. Self praise etc etc! The greed, the absolute entitlement, yes I think the book is well titled.

HappySummerDays · 09/09/2025 11:06

QE2 only acted to remove PA when 130 veterans wrote to her.
She ignored everyone else for years.

HilaryThorpe · 09/09/2025 11:24

As an officer in the Indian Army my father was questioned about army supply chains by Edwina Mountbatten. He had enormous respect for her, but said it was the most frightening experience of the whole war!

More revelations today about Sarah Ferguson and Epstein 🙄

Just what was she doing at the Dichess of Kent’s funeral as Andrew’s partner. Just mind boggling. Either they are a couple or they aren’t.

Yep. Divorced 30 years but pops up with monotonous regularity with the rest of the RF gurning and waving.

As for the lying about Epstein... "I will never be in contact with him again". Weeks lately telling him what a supreme friend he was.
She's an awful woman, lies through her teeth and won't go away.

CoffeeCantata · 21/09/2025 08:24

I still don’t see this book with its revelations making the waves you might expect. I said weeks ago that I was surprised to find that only I (amongst my family and acquaintance) had even heard of it!

OK, no one I know is interested in the RF (I am - which is why I join in on here sometimes) but even so?

Looking back, I don’t think I was that surprised at what this dreadful pair got up to - and perhaps few others are either. But I’m still waiting to see them publicly flogged!

HappySummerDays · 21/09/2025 12:00

It will be interesting to see what happens next. Her reputation is in absolute tatters now.

Trying to associate herself with the decent, kind and admirable D of K, no doubt.

It’s not working, Fergie. Go away, woman.

Oh hell, that's nauseating to think of

HarlotOTara · 22/09/2025 08:10

I am listening to the book on Audible, I remember the press stuff around them both but goodness aren’t they both rotten, spoilt scum.
i am amazed there has been such little outcry in the press. They both need to be banished from the kingdom - seriously

PinkPanther57 · 29/09/2025 09:14

Madchest · 09/09/2025 07:14

Similar emotional experiences to Diana with childhood trauma leaving her vulnerable to an adulthood of exploitation and unstable/disorganised attachment behaviours (lots of affairs and fallings out with friends) which would have kept her preoccupied and not present enough to be the best mother she could be. No blame on her. She was dealt a very bad hand as a young child so didn’t have the emotional development or intelligence needed to focus on her sons. Also Diana was exposed to domestic violence so her early trauma experience of reading the room on high alert for emotional / physical violence and managing others moods equipped her to be the empathic and compassionate campaigner that we saw.

Sarah too, (York), her mother was also a spendthrift who effectively abandoned her & who had a grisly death in a car crash minus seatbelt. How are Beatrice & Eugenie as stable as they seem to be?

I started a thread on this - didn’t realise one already. It’s a v interesting read so far.

deeahgwitch · 29/09/2025 15:29

I was at the hairdressers recently and flicking through the September edition of Woman and Home ( which comes out in August) I came across an article titled “Fergie The Comeback Queen”.
Not anymore !!! hopefully.

The rest of the world don't want them!

HappySummerDays · 30/09/2025 13:02

@3flyingducksarrive
Exactly. They should be kept right where they are - in the UK where their behaviour was ignored, enabled and brushed under the carpet for decades.

MaxandMeg · 01/10/2025 18:49

Off to hear Lownie at the Wigtown BF tomorrow. I’ll say hello since he pays my ever diminishing royalties.

PinkPanther57 · 01/10/2025 19:53

I am about halfway through & aghast at the York audacity & Sarah’s seeming inability to pay bills in s timely way esp to the little people. Some of her/their demands make J Lo look like an amateur.

Ladedahlia · 01/10/2025 20:58

I just find it so overwhelmingly nauseating and depressing I don’t think I can finish it. I’m halfway through too. Disgust and contempt doesn’t even touch it.

It really is a must read. Trouble is, those that should read it won't read it

And do you know the reason why?

It shines a very uncomfortable light on the royal family that certain people cannot just cope with

Is it possible that some of it untrue? Or all fact checked/libellous if so, so accurate?

There are pages and pages of named sources all happy to put their names up to what he is talking about

Halfway through. I know sources seem credible but well, my jaw is on the floor at the spending, debt, audacity.

HappySummerDays · 02/10/2025 13:19

I was just having a read about Peter Phillips and his business interests.
This is an extract from the Daily Mail back in April 2024.

But back in 2012, four years after the RBS downfall had hit the headlines, Peter had become a shareholder in SEL UK limited, a sports and events firm which is a division of an Australian company.
On paper, it organises events including the Gatcombe Festival of British Eventing, which Peter has run since 2017, but it has otherwise failed to set the world alight.
In 2016, the company attracted controversy when it emerged that a payment it had received to organise a 'charity' Patron's Lunch in honour of the late Queen's 90th birthday was only a few thousand less than the sums raised and given to Elizabeth II's favoured charities: the latter received a total of marginally over £762,000, while SEL had received a set fee of £750,000 to cover costs.
Nor had a contract to organise the lunch been put out to tender.

Now who does that put you in mind of??

CathyorClaire · 02/10/2025 20:26

Peter Phillips is another grifting chancer.

Somehow fast tracked into the VIP scheme for PPE supply during Covid despite not having actually founded his company at the time then diverting into testing with the company being dissolved by compulsory strike-off some eighteen months after it was founded.

All this while breaking lockdown by driving 460 miles for a shag "business purposes".

Another who apparently flies almost unseen under the radar.
