So for those interested in this book about the Yorks. I will read it and interested to hear from others who have or to give an opinion.

If people buy magazines or watch programmes like I'm a celeb - I don't I haven't got a TV - then they are just filling the demand. It's different to smoozing round the Middle East with carrier bags of money when you have a title like the duke of York, the Duchess of York or Princess.

Zara Phillips has led a different life to The Yorks. They aren't comparable. They're doing what they do. They don't come under my radar I don't buy magazines like Hello full of nobody celebs. They don't have Royal titles. Peter and Zara have probably inherited quite a bit of wealth from their grandparents. And they will both inherit their mum's estate at some point. They get sponsorship deals. Companies like them as a face of their brand. They have both competed in sport. They work their Tindall brand like other celebs on the circuit but they're not in the same league as Andrew's family.

I suppose the big difference is that people like Zara and Mike, and are not keen on Eugenie and Beatrice - moreso after what I've read in Entitled!

Zara has made plenty of mistakes (as has Mike), but they haven't tried to ram their ideas down people's throats, and tried to pretend they're perfect.

You alsoi see the genuine love between Zara and other members of the RF - it isn't at all an act.

Mike Tyndall would not be as famous if he had married in to the royal family.
might have seen him on quiz shows like many ex sports people. But not doing a podcast with the royal family.

She seems to have a great life and like the sort of person you’d like to get pissed with. Mike too.

Those York daughters don’t have a single likeable thing about them, although I do pity them their monstrous parents.

Entitled was a shocking read. I’m amazed it hasn’t attracted loads more press.

Like Princess Anne on A Question of Sport with Emlyn Hughes. Great TV but was she only on because she was a Princess or because she was an Olympian?
A lot of people do Podcasts. One of the most popular has Alastair Campbell on it who would have ever thought that.

The Tindalls openly take the piss out of their privileged and apparently fireproof position.

You don't know much about rugby, the podcast is huge. It is about rugby not the royal family, they just had a few of them on for a lark. Tindal has represented England 75 times, Haskell 77 caps, impressive careers, massive fan base, lucrative sponsorship deals, nothing to do with royal family.

It was a bit excruciating I will say. Everyone being very careful what they say with a lot of forced laughter.

It was a brilliant podcast. Princess Ann is patron of Scottish rugby, is a true fan and really knows her stuff regarding rugby union. It's no secret that William is a rugby fan and close to Zara and Mike. Why would they not do an informal podcast about something they love? Tindal knows them all extremely well, nothing forced about that. That is what the podcast is about, top players, refs, fans, matches, 6 nations, world cups, international teams, amusing rivalries and anecdotes. If you don't know anything about rugby stick to the point of the thread, the Yorks.

I thought the the podcast with Anne, William and Kate was excellent. Was good to see them involved with a team that they are obviously totally comfortable with.

There are always going to be people who have no time for it - sometimes it is because they don't like rugby, sometimes because they don't like the RF - don't share their opinions, but they're entitled to them.

See - I got back to the point of the thread!

The podcast has been running weekly for 5 years, anyone who is anyone in rugby or supports rugby has been on it. It had been going 3 years before the royals were on it, it was already a top listed podcast before them! It was one of the most anticipated podcasts debuting at number 1 on first episode, you are flogging a dead horse.

I think I'm missing the joke here.
Rugby is Mike's game just like equestrian sports are Zara's and they've both done really well at them. So, yes, those are the things they will know and talk about.
I feel a bit like Margot in The Good Life here (young whippersnappers may need to Google it) saying, "But whyyy is it so funny?".

The suggestion from some is that the Tindall’s success is entirely predicated on their previous sporting achievements and is absolutely nothing to do with their royal connections. Which is patently absurd.

If Mike wasn't doing a good job, the podcast wouldn't be in its fifth year. RF connections didn't help the US podcaster.

I watched that episode on YouTube. I was very struck by how well Mike and Anne interacted. They seemed genuinely fond of one another. All the RF seemed to get along well. I know nothing about rugby but my family was and still is passionate about US football so I understood the enthusiasm.

Maybe they all get on well, maybe they really don't. Who knows, not us that's for sure
