One of my extended aunts, presented in full detail of evidence of a distant cousin’s white collar criminal activity, refused to believe it. Not my son. The evidence was very clear, but no he’d been set up, apparently, he hadn’t.

so yes I can believe even if told she may not have believed it of her precious son.

HappySummerDays · 25/08/2025 12:14

Of course she knew. She chose to turn a blind eye - many many times.

Luddite26 · 25/08/2025 12:14

I think TLQ would have like to bollock BoJo when he lied and manipulated to get Parliament suspended for five weeks.

So this incredibly perceptive, incredibly switched on, incredibly well informed monarch who was regularly briefed would have known nothing about Andrew’s behaviour? Is that even remotely credible?

Exactly! We have been told over decades how astute she was, how she would protect the Institution at all costs, how she didn't suffer fools gladly, and yet, and yet... suddenly she's a frail old woman who really didn't know anything.

The book sets out how she was warned continually. Back in 2011 it was even brought up by a Minister about his friendship with Col. Gaddafi's son and another Libyan gun smuggler. With David Cameron trying to say it was all OK. To pretend QE2 knew nothing is ridiculous.

BemusedAmerican · 25/08/2025 12:39

Just heard about the Giuffre book on the morning radio. Suspect meals will be tense at Balmoral.

Well yes, but how much did she know? That’s the question. Are you suggesting she knew he liked to fuck people up the arse, as Lownie tells us was one of his specialties? I think the source of any information would NOT be Andrew and that the relevant officials would have spared a woman in her 90s the really sordid stuff.

As I said, the financial information might be a different matter.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/08/2025 12:43

Also that they regularly have the morning papers laid out at breakfast, many of which had Andrew's misdeeds plastered all over the front page - and yet this never raised a query in the monarch's mind?

Mind you, she also allegedly managed to miss the media's brouhaha over Paul Burrell's prosecution, only "remembering their conversation" as he was about to enter the witness box, so ...

Forget the sex. Concentrate on the national security risks.

BemusedAmerican · 25/08/2025 12:47

Let me reframe that statement. All the sex was horrible to read but he was also spending too much time with spies.

Typos.

You have skewed what I said.

I didn't suggest that the LQ would know nothing. How dare you suggest that I did? Look at my words.

I didn't suggest that officials didn't tell her things about Andrew.

I was following something which a previous poster had said and I asked a question about what men might tell their mothers. You didn't answer my question at all, so there wasn't any logical reason for you to attach your post to mine. Other people did take up my question and gave answers.

But the sex suggestions in the headlines attract people, and sell whatever it is that's being sold.

Where have you got that from? I am 80% through the book and there is no mention of anything like that. I presume it's in the last 20% of the book, I'll let you know.
QE2 wasn't always in her 90s you know! His behaviour was warned about right back in the early 2000s.
It's not just about the sex and as you say the financial information was brought to her attention.

Luddite26 · 25/08/2025 13:34

I feel the Virginia Guiffre book will be a traumatic read not least because of her sudden strange death. Very sad for her children.

It was very much to the fore in the MoS extracts on MN. A seems to have asked this of many of the masseuses and other women he met as a chat-up line.

Oh yes, he certainly knew how to turn on the charm!🤮

I have no idea why this would feature prominently in the excerpts but not in the book.

Thinking about it, I stick to my point about the Queen only ever being given a selective account of A’s sexual misconduct. Whether she was 70 or 90, do you honestly think a poor secret service officer is going to spell out to THE QUEEN the sordid details? They’d fudge it and euphemism. ‘’We’ve had reports that PA may be having escorts sent to his room, Ma’am’ or ‘We’re concerned that security may have been breached as a result of PA’s consorting with paid escorts’, or similar. I doubt anyone would have the guts to say he’d had 40 (possibly underage) women in 3 days.

CoffeeCantata · 25/08/2025 14:08

Euphemise, not euphemism.

I replied to you because you were suggesting that TLQ would remain in blissful ignorance because Andrew would not have told her. And I dare very easily. I have no patience with RF apologists.

Surely no nonsense Princess Anne would have a view.

Absolutely.

We have been told how cringeworthy it was for SF in Balmoral when her toe sucking episode made the headlines.

Ahhh I am with you. We are talking about anal sex not about men and anal sex.

I read your post wrong and I have finished the book and yes there is reference to it but without being crude anal sex is not something to be ashamed of

jumpingthehighjump · 25/08/2025 14:34

We’re concerned that security may have been breached as a result of PA’s consorting with paid escorts’, or similar. I doubt anyone would have the guts to say he’d had 40 (possibly underage) women in 3 days.

Why on earth not? He was a huge security issue shipping women all around Thailand to share between him and Epstein, and saying he's consorting with paid or escorts is bad enough, surely they could say with a huge number of paid escorts... Not much difference

All I can say is, I think this shows the royal family up in a really really bad light
