@JADS saving pocket money to buy anything sounds like an idea from my childhood- and I’m in my 50s!
Meghan seems very isolated from reality.

LifeExperience · 23/06/2025 14:55

Sell it to other companies so that they can try to sell their tat to you also. And yes, MM is absolutely doing it. All retail companies do it as an added revenue stream.

I suspect selling on data is Meghan's main revenue stream.

MrsLeonFarrell · 23/06/2025 18:42

RandyRedHumpback · 23/06/2025 17:49

In the Emma Grede podcast, MM pointedly said her personal instagram wasn't being used to promote her business. Perhaps she's making the "home-made" claim on the personal instagram in order to have plausible deniability about mis-selling the As Ever products as home-made. The mistake she's made is that the "I've sold out" missive from the second drop - where she advises people to hurry up if they want the sprinkles - was, I believe, posted on both.

The video has now been posted on both. Maybe she does make everything. Having pots of honey from a single hive would explain why it keeps selling out!

DundeeCake58 · 23/06/2025 18:46

I wonder which one of them will be the first to roll over in bed one morning and say to themself - why am I lying here next to this lying and manipulative nasty piece of work? Surely they must know they are both liars.

Nah. She would need a license to sell food from her kitchen. And she hasn’t hand made the flower sprinkles or the pancake mix, has she?

Lunde · 23/06/2025 18:52

IcedPurple · 23/06/2025 13:55

Yes, if she was selling 'luxury' perfume or cosmetics with a very high profit margin she might make a profit with small batches. But a couple of 'drops' of white labelled pancake mix or fruit 'spread' aren't going to keep the lights on in Montecito Manor.

Which is why I think this is a vanity project, not a serious commercial endeavour. She wants to be able to say she's a 'female founder' with a 'sell out business'.

I don't think she started this company to run a business - I think she intended sell the name/brand - a bit like the Kardashians do.

However I don't think there has been much interest and it's only been a few weeks of one-day sales

Vespanest · 23/06/2025 18:55

I'd argue the video gives the impression of Meghan creating the original/ inspiration for the product to then be manufactured. Not that I believe that for a second but I do not think it necessarily indicates homemade.

Lunde · 23/06/2025 18:58

Have any of her products turned up on Ebay or similar?

Usually if products are truly in demand but scarce people who manage to get one then try to sell it on at big profit. The first batch of products seems to have been mainly bought by journalists though.

I was joking. I think she is deliberately producing small quantities to sell out.

Exactly, who would be daft enough to come up with the $$$ she would undoubtedly want based on an (unknown but probably small) number of crap products which sell out with suspicious alacrity on 2 occasions months apart?

She's not flogging Oasis tickets. It's jam and tea, mainly.

ETA imagining a Meghan/Gallagher brothers collaboration. Oh PLEASE make a series about that! "Don't Look Back In Anger" as the theme tune.

Last batch there was a distinctly non artisanal video of jam being cranked out in a factory line

not sure if this has already been shared, asever sharing exclusive metrics, the stock was increased (drastically by X 10). Unfortunately thats when the headline collapses as 10 time what is absolutely useless without the baseline number.

Exactly. 10 X 50? 10 X 50 000?

I fear we will never know (but if it were large numbers, we certainly would)

Could even be 10 x1 or 10 x 0 🤷‍♀️

An entire puff piece about how all the 'products' sold out.

This again confirms to me that this is just an ego trip. Not a serious business. Because having your entire inventory go within a few hours might be good for your ego, but it's crap for your business. If a potential customer is interested in what you're selling, they don't want to have to run to their computer the moment the products drop, just in case they all 'sell out'. They want to buy them at a time of their choosing.

Plus, we all know that these are generic mass-produced items, not limited editions with carefully sourced ingredients. No reason that I can see why she couldn't have a steady flow of products for sale. No reason other than her ego of course.

We only have her word that there was 10x more stock available. Who knows whether that's true or not.

Exactly. Pack mixes and generic jams are not the sort of thing most are prepared to spend time hovering over websites for.

It has to be all about her ego. Selling out in four hours on round 2 doesn't make me think 'What a successful business.' It makes me think 'She doesn't have a clue what she's doing.'

It makes me think she’s lying about how much she’s selling or to whom.

I put "As Ever" into Ebay and got lots of results ... for the NYC clothing company. Maybe it's too soon for resells to hit?

TheAutumnCrow · 23/06/2025 21:23

I suppose it’s not beyond the realms of possibilities that it’s all a mirage of a business (a ‘grift’, in other words), to try to sell the rights to use her name (in one or all of its variations).

It’s like something out of ‘Hustle’, the UK one with the Mickey Stone character, eg the one where they pretend they own a stately home and sell it to a ‘mark’ 😄 Highly entertaining stuff.

My2cents1975 · 23/06/2025 21:27

IMHO, this Instyle puff piece is a waste of PR money.

-Serious investors will roll their eyes as Instyle isn't a credible business magazine.
-Super fans would be happier with more family pictures.
-Skeptics will raise eyebrows and say I don't believe this puff piece at all.

Not understanding the PR game, but then again, I am not the 15-year-old target customer saving money for runny spread.

Mine too. I thought it was a weird reference point. As a 15 year old, I loved music and used to save up to buy cassette albums.

As an aside, I caught a snippet of the Jamie Kern Lima podcast where she is interviewing a chap talking about the "shit sandwich" method of feedback and how it doesn't work. Her whole persona is different - very business like and professional. I almost didn't recognise her; she wasn't constantly grinning and there was minimal vocal fry.

The shipping is shocking so it might take a couple of weeks.
