I stumbled on the Megxit programme earlier which was actually very interesting, (I was very 🙄 but gave it a whirl!). next was Princess Anne and her Gatscombe estate, and two more programmes now!
I'm not a royalist particularly but actually it's been quite interesting to watch so far .... albeit I'm 2 programmes in and awaiting my DD16 taking over the telly lol 😂
Anyone else watching? Any thoughts?

C5 have an extensive catalogue of royal docs. I've posted it before.

A fair bit seems to be either regurgitated already known details or reimagined but kudos to them for keeping the royals under the microscope.

chunkybear · 07/06/2025 20:33

Fair enough, I guess I normally don't bother watching / don't have time etc ... quite eye opening and also enjoying it which I didn't expect

I watched one recently, I'd have learned more on Twitter. It was vapid

Allseeingallknowing · 07/06/2025 21:05

The ones in royal residences are boring- they don’t show much of the interiors, just a load of talking.

chunkybear · 07/06/2025 21:19

@Allseeingallknowing that's very true, although I don't realise how many houses they had ... it's also good to know what belongs to them as opposed to what belongs to the country

Nice to see some of the properties are making money from the tourists, rather then just selling them off and they become private and lost to rich oligarchs or such

The one on now, Meghan v Kate: The Meeting that Changed the Monarchy, is a dramatisation of the meeting between W, K, H & M shortly after the wedding combined with analysis. It's a different approach and it's excruciating, that must have been such a difficult time for them. I'm enjoying it, some of the acting/voices make me laugh.

All of this content came from Spare...

chunkybear · 07/06/2025 22:26

Oh wow watching basically Kate V Meghan ..... 😵‍💫🙀
Meghan too much intimacy
Megs too familiar
Hostility
Kate very culturally different
Both couples can't be in agree on how to treat staff/people etc ... but from an outsider ... H&M seem pretty shitty to the staff that the UK provided them with

Wow if al content came fro Spare (sorry not head this) then I have to say I'm very Megan negative ... will keep watching ...

The content for the dramatisation came from the book. We wouldn't have known about the meeting if he hadn't told us.

The negativity towards Meghan is coming from the contextual commentary.

Not2identifying · 07/06/2025 22:35

And they just announced a show next Sat at 8.30pm about H&M's finances.

Megativity(!)
I’ll get my coat…

chunkybear · 07/06/2025 22:44

... hhhmmm the Sandringham summit ... I think that the two couples could
Literally never get on, they're too different and M&H are desperate to be equal, or more, but they never will me as it's not how the monarchy works. .... since the I feel M&H have thrown scud missiles or similar to try ti damage the monarchy and step into their role ... buy I have to day they're so fucking full of shit ... they're not royalty, they're grifters

watched the Kate vs Meghan one, oh my word, the voices in those recreations are something else.😱. Yes, it was based around Spare.

Despite how the programme tried to present it as a 'clash of cultures' and the two 'wives' being caught up in the brothers fallout, it's very clear William and Catherine saw right through Meghan from the early days, they weren't taken in by her, their 'fallout' had nothing to do with differing cultures at all.

Anyway, William and Catherine have since been proven correct in how they perceived her, H&M can't blame a culture clash on the experiences of their US household and business colleagues.

NewAgeNewMe · 08/06/2025 07:23

The point of that program is was all based on Harry’s own words. It’s clear that it’s meghan’s behaviour & Harry’s enabling her that was the catalyst.

I’m genuinely interested that you think it is “clear” when we don’t know what happened from the other side. It’s well known and documented that royal wives have a hard time settling in to the institution; Meghan isn’t the first who has had difficulties by any means.

It’s interesting that everyone automatically thinks that the RF are entirely blameless, when they have the power, influence and endless resources to spin a narrative in a way that usually shows them in a favourable light. And yet no one questions this at all?

From my own experience of life, when there is a family fracture, there are usually faults on both sides.

And they just announced a show next Sat at 8.30pm about H&M's finances.

I will watch but I very much doubt it will deliver any bombshells.

Harold's dim reputation doesn't extend to the way the finances have been very skilfully locked down and obscured.

PR team might be lacking but I reckon his accountants are on fire.

NewAgeNewMe · 08/06/2025 22:25

Why would I think the RF are completely blameless @Plasticcheeeandgherkins ? I’ve no idea if they are or not. What I see before me though, is lobs thrown frequently by the Sussexes, without any retaliation from the RF.

I think however, when like Meghan, you have fallen out with both your own family and your husband’s, then at some point, you have to face the possibility that you are the problem. Difficult when one has family like the Markles though!

That one I will watch. There are lots of royal documentaries on 5 catch up though the historical ones are best. @Allseeingallknowing I quite like the ones about residences as they're quite un demanding with shots of lavish country houses at intervals. Good for watching when you're about to go to bed or happy to drift off to sleep.. 😀

Luddite26 · 08/06/2025 22:47

Catherine is a Capricorn. She will have tried and then thought fuck it. And will never forget it. Or forgive.
I usually watch all the royal programmes in my role as a support worker with a chap I care for. Ch5 blast them out. We love them! I love Richard Kay he's the big gun!

Or some recollections may vary and the Sussexes will always be much-loved family members.

One of the most superb responses to a pair of chancers.

threesocksmorgan · 09/06/2025 16:23

I really Like the ones about the royal residences.

CathyorClaire · 15/06/2025 11:10

Well, nothing new in the finances doc. No surprise there.

What did surprise me was that there wasn't even a passing mention of Archewell, Invictus and Travalyst let alone an analysis of what's already known.

Interesting.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/06/2025 11:23

I am finding these programmes quite interesting and the commentators/ journalists seem quite balanced . Watched Harry and Meghan’s American Nightmare which was good.
