The Era of Joy didn't last long.

This is going to be interesting, it's going to be a full on PR onslaught for the next few months, and then we will have Harry launching his very own 'commercial project'.

Clearly an article straight from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, giving an exclusive to the DM.

Are you serious?

You're saying that they are posting pics of the back of their children's heads to counter bizarre nonsense from a tiny number of online weirdos? Why pander to such people? Why would any reasonable person care what such nutters think?

And if you're going to go there, then a photo of a hand or back of head doesn't 'prove' anything, does it? Those backs of heads could belong to any random kid. If you're inclined to believe in such daft theories, nothing is going to dissuade you, so why bother trying?

I was actually tongue in cheek, believe it or not. However, as I have just said, they carefully curate pictures and I think that's a good thing. Other Royals do it, lots of backs of heads of the York grandchildren etc. Just my opinion of course.

Why do you keep telling us something is 'just my opinion'?

What did you think people might mistake your posts for if you didn't write that?

The Yorks are like the Sussexes. No wonder they're friends.
The rest don't constantly promote their children for the commercial gains.

The Yorks haven't publicly campaigned against online bullying of children either.

And we've definitely seen the faces of both of Eugenie's sons. They'll probably also be seen at some royal family events when they are older. I think August was at some of the Jubilee events.

Extiainoiapeial · 26/05/2025 16:45

I can keep saying 'just my opinion of course' if I want to?

Sorry you don't like it!

wordler · 26/05/2025 16:45

The problem for me now is it’s starting to look a little creepy because Meghan is posting so many back of head shots for her IG promotion that it looks a little bit like the vibe of a horror movie or a Doctor Who episode where you see and hear the children but never see their faces - until the jump shot reveal - and then it’s something spooky or unnatural like little old people (was that a Nicole Kidman movie?)

Sorry you don't like it!

You can say whatever you want within talk guidelines, as can anyone.

But it's a bit weird to be constantly telling people something is 'just my opinion' on a discussion forum. What else could it possibly be?

I agree.

It's approaching Michael Jackson levels of weirdness now. Thankfully the kids are a bit too big to be dangled off a hotel balcony.

Not sure if this came up earlier, but Charlie Gipson has worked for H & M for about a year at this point:

He would be one of the people behind that "Summer of Joy" campaign as well as the jam rollout. I'm impressed he's lasted so long.

@wordler I believe you are referring to "The Others" with Nicole Kidman. Very creepy movie!!!

Yes, good points. The Sussex approach to using their children's image isn't like anyone else in the RF, with a huge dose of hypocrisy thrown in..

Are any of the team actually 'new, new' or has there just been a reshuffle / restructure of the same people who have been there a while i.e. more than 8 whole weeks?

Yes, the photo of Harry walking away with the kids through the garden had a horror vibe for me. Partly the back view, partly that for me gardens look quite uncanny and unnatural when photographed in black and white. If I had wonderful lush gardens like they do, I would have all photos taken there in glorious colour.

Yes! That’s the movie - lots of shots of the children from behind and then the creepy shot of seeing their old faces!

They often use black and white. It always looks dreadful. Perhaps they think it looks arty or sophisticated?

Eugenie bought August, than aged two, along to some of the Platinum Jubilee events, and Sienna attended a pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace with her parents, so yes, they have been seen in public when attending public events.

jeffgoldblum · 26/05/2025 17:19

Personally ( in my opinion) , it’s the utter hypocrisy that I find annoying, I refuse to be told about online safety and keeping my children safe , particularly by people who do actually post their children on sm when I don’t!
it’s on par with preaching about air miles and the environment from people who use personal jets like I use a bus!!! 🙄

I couldn't agree more! It's the preaching and the hypocrisy which is the issue here. Just my opinion as well.

And while I’m on the subject, it’s particularly gauling to have someone of Harry’s intelligence preaching and telling us things we already knew and understood!!!
the monarchy is a hierarchy indeed!!! Wow !!! Who bloody knew? … well that would be everyone but you apparently Harry! 🙄

I don't follow any of their social media, but my impression is that Bea and Eugenie mostly post photos of the children to mark birthdays or other family occasions.

Whereas Meghan has been posting these photos and little videos sometimes a few times a week, in an obvious attempt to promote her commercial endeavours. I don't think it's going to do the kids any great harm, but it doesn't sit well with her supposed concern over online safety for children.

Baital · 26/05/2025 17:52

I find the 'back of the head' or 'baby hand and elbow' thing a bit weird.

You can make the announcement - baby is born, happy birthday son/daughter without a photo, if you want to announce it. And it's probably better to give the basic facts if there is likely to be press interest, because it shuts down speculation.

Why include a visual if you don't want visual recognition? Just don't include a photo.

I can understand providing a bland, uncontroversial photo, as the Wales do, if the children are going to be visible at public events. Again, it keeps speculation to a minimum and allows you some control.

But if your children aren't going to attend public events, no need for a photo. If they are going to attend public events, why not provide the occasional bland photo, as their image is going to appear in the media anyway.

It's almost as if the parents WANT to whip up speculation and interest 😮

Has he never heard of zoom ?
All that way to give a speech ?

Used to be sympathetic to them, until it became clear they were milking amy angle of victimhood they could find.

Now it's obvious they're just grifters.

Fill your boots. Not interested.
