Still 'out of stock'?

Just had another look at the As Ever website, everything is still saying 'out of stock'. What kind of bullshit online shop is this?!
(I know, I know its always been a farce Grin)

I wasn't looking to buy anything, I was looking to see if her sparse number of products had been restocked, and they haven't.
Which is ridiculous.

So you were just keeping an eye on stock levels…without wanting to buy anything?

Why not? If trying to work out if this is a realistic source of income? (For the 'founder' of a business?)

Enrichetta · 23/05/2025 22:40

We're not talking artisanal hand crafted rare seasonal produce.

But surely the whole point of the enterprise is that the ‘duchess’ makes her own jam to sell…….. even if she isn’t doing it in her own kitchen… n’est-ce pas?

Spectre8 · 23/05/2025 22:24

Well you are interested enough to be checking stock levels lol

Yes but not to buy 😂

foreverblowingbubbless · 24/05/2025 00:27

She's been quietly crafting something special 😉

Why not? I frequently look up Aldi's special buys, doesn't mean I'm going to rush in and buy that kayak. It's called browsing.

She's taken up basket weaving? 😁

I wasn't 'keeping an eye', I was being nosy as it's been the subject of a lot of media and threads on here.
Don't know why I'm explaining myself to the SS anyway! HmmGrin

if you don’t like the answer you get accused of being in the SS how predictable.

Well I did know American Uni students over here in my Uni in the 1970s who had credits for basket weaving 🤷‍♀️

You never know. One day might find a use for that welding mask.

BemusedAmerican · 24/05/2025 16:17

Whenever I go to Trader Joe's for my usual staples, I always check the monthly specials flier. The regular items bring me in and the seasonal specials make me overspend. That is what many food companies do. Meghan's problem is she has no staples ( and apparently nothing else) and seems to want to do only seasonal dumps.

That's still a running joke about schools with an "alternative" approach to learning. I actually did learn basket weaving in art classes in elementary school.

I think As Ever is nothing like what she had envisaged as a brand. it ended up being a rush job because of the other one not getting off the starting block, she was up against it with the upcoming release of her series and the promise of twinning it with a product line.

The series also had to be postponed due to lack of availability of products. So the quickest option was to get a low-end own label product from a generic mass producer and hope for the best, not sure if there ever will be a restock or if she will pivot to something else.. The honey product never materialised, despite taking orders (and payment) for it.

On top of all that mess, the brand name was stolen from another company.

The fuck up of the launch does not bode well for any long term success.

CapitalAtRisk · 28/05/2025 11:24

More info here. Fast Co corrected their original article to say that As Ever products may be restocked in the future 🤔

How Meghan built her pioneering partnership with Netflix - Fast Company

Thedom · 28/05/2025 13:14

I guess Netflix her partners all choked when they read that, she basically shut the door on her brand, clearly a big mistake to disclose it before the 2nd half of the show aired, scrambling now to recover from that blunder.----

Snorlaxo · 28/05/2025 13:36

When the DM had that article about the new Sussex staff, wasn’t there someone who was now in charge of As Ever?

If they ever replenished stocks then the Daily Mail would have written about it and reviewed the products.

CapitalAtRisk · 28/05/2025 14:43

There are some absolutely priceless quotes in that article:

The easiest thing to do would have been to endlessly restock the popular products, which would likely sell out very quickly again. But while the As Ever team has hinted online that the items will be back on sale soon, Meghan also wants to take a step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be. She says she’s planning to announce new products in the first quarter of 2026.

🤔 I mean, that's what a store does, isn't it? Sell stuff to people who want it?

“I want to really focus on the hospitality angle of As Ever, but as we take the learnings, we can understand what the customer’s needs are seasonally,” she says.

Let's all take the learnings, people!

“My heart is very deeply in my home,” she says. “Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden, and then you can imagine different verticals coming out of that.”

It's all a bit Alan Partridge...

She's obsessed with love stories. First her and Harry, then her with her house and garden. I've never thought of her as a closet romantic.

When my dh was on an exchange to an American university in the 90, he did a social dancing class which would get you credits if you were a student at that university but his home university wouldn’t have accepted them. It was the only class he never missed!

Fluffyholeysocks · 28/05/2025 15:43

Perhaps she's modelled her business on the middle aisle at Lidl. Get a load of stock in, be it welding masks, caravan steps, insulated sandwich bags or pancake mix. And once it's gone, it's gone? I look forward to the As Ever welding mask.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 29/05/2025 08:21

I honestly don't know who would buy her stuff even if she restocked. There's nothing she is selling that you couldn't get cheaper at Home Bargains or Pets At Home (Flower sprinkles. Hamster aisle.)

I think this is the crux of it, no one is buying it, the so called 'launch' was a very limited supply bought by fans, a few journalists and influencers (the ones who did not get a freebie).

They obviously realised there isn't a market, so restocking, even if it was for another small supply event, was strangely not worth it to them.
