Nail on head @GiveMeSpanakopita as usual. ( God every time I read that I long for one of those golden parcels of cheese and spinachy goodness... )
My employer commissioned me over a number of years to deliver a séries of courses for senior and middle management to try to get them to stop using the language of corporate bullshit.
I had great fun devising these sessions and would use the most égregious examples I could find for them to translate in order to make my point.
My bullshit radar is very well honed!
Generally you find this nonsense because:
People confuse using jargon that sounds impressive to some, as actually being impressive. The listeners don't stop to think ' but what does this actually mean?'
They want to hide the true meaning of something as spanakopita said upthread
They are so insecure in their own abilities they are afraid to articulate something simply
They are frauds, usually vastly over promoted who actually have no clue what they are talking about and hope that a jargon filled delivery will deflect tough questions.
