Watching the news about the horrendous rubbish problem in Birmingham, this was followed by Kates film clip rambling about Windermere saying we need to connect with nature and couldn’t help thinking it was inappropriate.I bet cancer sufferers in Birmingham would love to do this instead of holding down a job worrying about col doing chores that I bet she never does and have stinking rubbish with rats in the streets. I have no problem with her video but thought the timing was so off. They sometimes need to read the room.

Everything she does seems like fluff and waffle. I’m really not in the slightest interested in her wandering about the hills. Can’t believe people like this vacuous shite

Most people don’t. Except for devout Christians and extreme royalist. No one else gives a shit!

Because he is the future monarch. In all honestly, I wouldn’t be suprised if he became king in the next few years. It’s important that he involves himself with these events.

Is it? Says who? What if he doesn’t want to be the head of the Church of England?

AtIusvue · 17/04/2025 22:20

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 17/04/2025 22:18

It seems you have zero indication of what events they attend and don’t attend. Thank you for confirming that for me 🥰

I haven’t once been rude to you, I really don’t understand why this is the route you have chosen.

The Royal rota are brought into to cover this as a story. It’s important for the RF that they are seen attending this service.

Much like the Xmas day service.

Or right, and what act of Parliament decrees that attendance by a royal rota journalist renders an event an official duty of the state? Or are you reverse ferreting now? Is it merely important for the RF now, rather than a duty?

Then he wouldn’t be able to serve as King.

Why do we still have a RF then? Why aren't they like the rest of European Royals?

I never said it was an official duty of state.

I said he has duties, responsibilities and expectations. This is part of being a senior member of the RF. If he decides not to, he can’t be forced to. But by picking and choosing along the way, he is in danger of losing the respect of the public.

pilates · 17/04/2025 22:25

“The public do care. Maybe not as much as other issues. But they will have an opinion.“

Honestly, most people won’t give a rats arse.

I can’t imagine getting so het up over something so trivial.

Well, will see about that when he is King. Until then, seeing as you are not a devout Protestant or Royalist, I recommend you relax and not care about how a man chooses to worship (or not worship). Look to your King, who is the ACTUAL head of the Church of England!

Well if he has duties, he owes those duties to someone or something. To what does he owe the duties you say he has?

This long and boring conversation which Im unfortunately a part of, comes from posters who don’t seem happy that others share a different opinion.

I think William should go to Windsor. Others don’t. Cat fight ensues

But who says this is an official duty? We have asked you repeatedly and you haven’t provided any evidence. I think you are imaging these so called duties, responsibilities and expectations of the Royal Family (especially of anyone who isn’t the actual reigning monarch).

It seems to me like you don’t like others debating with you. It reflects more on you than others if you’re not willing to debate in a public space.

What are you talking about? Your post makes no sense.

Like it or not, there are expectation tht the RF attends certain events. These events are important for the RF to share and it’s important for them to be seen representing Britain and its traditions.

It why they let the press cover certain private events.

And where does it say that the future monarch has to attend an Easter service when they are still just Prince of Wales?

Public service as future Monarch

So you are saying his public service extends to a private family event. So you are rendering a private family event a state occasion by requiring his presence there. .

Again, says who? No one seems that’s annoyed apart from you and a few posters on a Daily Mail article 😆

William and Catherine are currently the most popular members of the Royal family. I doubt the fact they’re spending Easter in private is going to harm their reputation unless you are a devout Protestant (which you say you are not. So why are you bothered?)

It’s like people complaining when Andrew attends a public church service. I cannot stand the man, but if he wants to attend church, who am I to forbid him from practising his faith the way he wants to?

If you go back, I made one post. I didn’t quote anyone or make an attack on anyone’s opinion.

I shared my opinion of William not attending.
From that point, I was repeatly quoted and asked to explain my views. Many, many questions asked….

You'll note, it’s not me asking other posters to explain their opinions. I fully understand and respect that you all have a different opinion to mine. I’m not asking you explain yourself, repeatly asking questions. I’m not putting labels on others because they don’t happen to share the same viewpoint.

LaMarschallin · 17/04/2025 22:36

I'm a Christian and go to church. Not sure if I count as devout; I'm on the cleaning and teas-and-coffees rotas, if that's any indication. I'll be in church on Easter Sunday (we get given chocolate eggs, but only on the way out - possibly they think we might not stay if we got them before the service).
However, I've never noticed any publicity about the RF going to church on Easter Sunday. I know about the Maundy Thursday tradition, of course, and - had I thought about it - I'd have assumed the RF go to church on Easter Sunday.
I didn't realise it was traditional or expected or their duty or whatever.

Anyway, just thought I'd add an opinion from someone who'll admit to being a regular church attender.

It’s called a debate. If this debate upsets you so much I recommend you don’t post on public forums, as it may upset you when people don’t agree with your opinion.

it really is underhand to label someone with a religious identity, not understanding the implications of doing so.

Stop doing it.

They let the royal rota attend events so they don't have 200 photographers and journalists camped on the doorstep creating a nightmare for both the family, the public and the police. It has nothing to do with turning their private family occasions into state duty.
