It’s a mean girl thing? Look at us, we’re so close. The rest of you plebs wouldn’t understand.

Given what we know now (thank-you Daily Mail) about what had happened behind the scenes, with Meghan snubbing Sophie, perhaps Delfina was showing solidarity with Sophie.

bluegreygreen · 06/04/2025 13:10

Delfina and Meghan are holding hands

@glitterturd reports that Delfina and Sophie were holding hands on stage.

Sorry, I thought @glitterturd was describing the photograph in her post.

@glitterturd reports that Delfina and Sophie were holding hands on stage.

You have misunderstood what @glitterturd said. Her post says

I saw a report on this event as well where Meghan is on stage when Dr Sophie is there holding hands with Delfina. It looks so childish. Why would you do that on stage ? or at all? 😬

It is Meghan who is holding hands with Delfina. What the OP meant was “Meghan is on stage, when Dr Sophie is there, holding hands with Delfina”. Punctuation necessary for clarity 😆

OK. I read the post twice as I was puzzled the hand-holding was between Sophie and Delfina. Meghan and Sophie makes much more sense.

Uricon2 · 06/04/2025 13:44

I've managed not to hold hands with my friends since I stopped toddling and think it infantilises when grown women do it (and it is women) See also, performative PDAs generally😂

I just don't see the need to demonstrate how "close" you are in such a way and I'm not untactile.

Making a bit of a t*t of myself today 😀 I am repeating after myself 'Meghan and Delfina. Meghan and Delfina.'

FFS, the handholding.

Apparently Meghan suggested that she and Catherine should hold hands at Wimbledon. WTAF? Why does she behave in this way? It's desperately odd.

Conundrumseverywhere · 06/04/2025 14:20

It’s desperately insecure. She seems to need it cling to Harry constantly too. I just find it very strange . Especially for such a strong independent woman blah blah.

Ohpleeeease · 06/04/2025 14:21

It’s not whom we hold hands with but when. However close Meghan Markle and Delfina are it was completely inappropriate for them to be holding hands on the presentation stage.

A PP commented that both Markle and PH seem to have arrested developmentally at a young age and are essentially children. I think this explains so much of their behaviour but unfortunately confirms they’ll never change as long as people pander to them.

StrawberryWasp · 06/04/2025 14:25

Women holding hands feels very teenage.
And can be used to indicate ingroup outgroup status which is the way women use to bully each other.

That's why it seems a bit Mean Girls.

Conundrumseverywhere · 06/04/2025 14:32

I agree. It doesn’t bode well though for their own children. As we saw with Charles and Diana.

How do we know M suggested her and C hold hands at Wimbledon?

Is it a cultural difference? Do adult US women hold hands more frequently than UK women?

Yes - I read that but...damn...I can't be sure where! I think it might have been Tom Bower in Revenge. Catherine declined to hold hands, thank God.

It's pathetically inappropriate at public events and I think in this case it was a way of preventing Catherine taking obvious precedence. If Meghan could have got her notorious claw on her, then they'd both have to walk side-by-side instead of possibly Meghan following Catherine.

I find the whole idea of holding hands at a public occasion with anyone - your partner, friend, parent - except a small child really embarrassing.

CoffeeCantata · 06/04/2025 14:45

Should add that not only did H & M look silly and soppy holding hands at the Queen's funeral but if you look at the photos/videos it actually ruined the line for the procession. They are a pair of idiots.

CoffeeCantata · 06/04/2025 14:50

Oh - another point (sorry - I'll get my ducks in a row next time I post!)

I'm sure pps are right about the psychology behind the insistence on inappropriate hand-holding, but I'd add that it's also a bid to be seen as young. We see on here all the time that some people still regard them as a young couple and frankly their behaviour does promote this idea - but in the sense of being immature/teenage.

Fgs Meghan is approaching her mid-40s and Harry isn't far behind but they must think that holding hands in public as they do makes them seem like Love's Young Dream, sweet, innocent and vulnerable as they cling together against the nasty mean world. I find it quite, quite nauseating.

Agree. And fwiw I thought the Tindalls shouldn’t have done it either

eta your are not “warmer” if you insist on holding hands at all times, even when not appropriate to the occasion. You are performative imo

I agree. But Wimbledon is a work event for Catherine, so she should be in the lead. It's not like they're both just there as spectators. And she needs both hands free - one to hold the bunch of flowers that someone has just given her, the other to shake hands with people she meets.

Ohpleeeease · 06/04/2025 15:21

You occasionally see Kate and William holding hands but it’s always when they are fully done with the work engagement and are walking back to train station etc.

It’s so weird the way Meghan and Harry were doing it during their Royal engagements. Imagine a husband and wife working in the same office and they walk around holding hands while talking to colleagues or going into board meetings.

Yes, but from the very beginning, that's how they presented themselves, what their image was.

Also, given that Meghan attended Wimbledon on her own and insisted on clearing people away from where she was sitting, I don’t think her wanting to hold hands at the tournament “to spread warmth” was very genuine 🤪
