I read somewhere (no idea if true) that Harry bought Meghan a replica of the black sheep jumper that Diana wore.

One black being surrounded by many white beings. Subtle, Harry.

Have you ever lay on the floor sobbing?

I've cried in bed, on the sofa, in the bath, but never on the floor.

Do they not have enough chairs?

My toddler granddaughter when she wasn’t allowed a second biscuit .,

DuchessOfPort · 24/02/2025 18:21

I remember the comment about her children.

it was an interview with Variety I think.

“…We’re creating multidimensional, interesting, kind, creative people. That’s who our kids are.”

it was the We’re Creating bit that jars so much.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 24/02/2025 18:22

Are you disputing the ranking of the theatre programme?

No. As I didn’t do that in my post, which I presume you read.

If I were you, I would be steering clear of expressions like ‘scraping the barrel’, whilst defending your best beloved. It might lead to unkind remarks.

IdaGlossop · 24/02/2025 18:23

itsjustthewayitwas · 24/02/2025 15:42

Why does she always reference ‘my husband’ without using his name? So weird.

Why isn't she saying 'My husband and I'? She's missed a trick.

DuchessOfPort · 24/02/2025 18:24

The Cut interview was genius. Genius. I wonder how long it took her to understand that it wasn’t complimentary. Being a fly on the wall when it was broken to her that it was really not would have been fascinating. Awkward task of the day!

Thank you. Yes that was it!
They were going to make their children amazing and creative, it would be because of them.
Well, how would she cope if they're not all that?

Also describing toddlers as multidimensional, interesting, kind, creative people is just a ridiculous red flag in itself.

I noticed in Tesco today that Jamie Oliver has a new Air Fryer cookbook out!
He knows his audience.
And he's an actual chef.

I think he uses his own home for his shows, or he did?

He's had a lot of flak from various quarters in the past too, as some failures but he doesn't do whinging which means people forgive and forget over time.

Also, he actually has talent. That's the difference.

I think it may have been too subtle for her.

Multi millionaires so often make them so, using resources re: second language fluency, Mandarin, Spanish etc.

I see a non compliant child being particularly problematic or a daughter that decides not to be a reflection of what she best values.

Didn't the journalist get suspended or sacked? I think she understood and applied some pressure on the editor.

IdaGlossop · 24/02/2025 18:37

I have got distracted by catching up on posts instead of doing what I intended to do, which is post this gem: https://youtube.com/shorts/75DKZqOXrrY?feature=shared. It is the trailer for Pamela Anderson's Cooking With Love, shown last year on a Canadian food channel. Here's a feel for the show: a sunny kitchen in a rich person's house; Pamela doing a little delighted dance; Pamela and a guest chef doing a double high five in front of wall-mounted kitchen cupboards, chef on the left, Pamela on the right; Pamela laying napkins and flowers on a table in a sun-filled garden. All of this seems very familiar. However, there is a critical difference: the food is vegan because Pamela has been vegan for years.

Really? I did not know that.
Sacked for what?

The description of the scene where M gets the driver to hand out rucksacks with water and snacks to homeless people to teach Archie a moral lesson 😂

Great post. Jamie Oliver has other virtues too. He's relatable - bloke brought up in a pub, a bit cheeky chappie; he campaigns convincingly and isn't afraid of controversy - turkey twizzlers; he isn't precious about his kids - we see them, it's no big deal. Meghan is not relatable - too much conspicuous wealth. Her causes seem superficial - turning up to be photographed with women who are not white fiddling with food - is about Meghan. She's very precious about her kids - we see bits of them, occasionally.

Jamie Oliver is also British, let's face it, and therefore his cheeky schtick goes down well in Britain.

However, Meghan is extremely relatable in the US, where wealth is not pooh poohed, and in fact is celebrated. She reaches audiences Jamie Oliver does not.

Is the 'fiddling with food' whinge about the cookbook the Hubb Community Kitchen published? It has raised over $1.2 million, or £911k as of 2024. If she has 'fiddled with food' elsewhere, who can blame her for thinking she might replicate that success.

Her children are possible targets for paparazzi and for terrorists. Unlike Our Dear President Musk, she and H choose not to parade them like trophies or evidence of virility, or use them as human shields. They will never inherit the throne, and there is no need to have their images put to use to increase the popularity of the Monarchy or their parents.

Knowing the propensity of the more crass kind of people to speculate and remark about African features, H and M are wise not to put their children's images out there. The daily lived experience of biracial children is not always a smooth one in any Western society.

If you look for photos of children of other close relatives in the RF (apart from the Wales family), you'll have a hard time finding any authorised shots of faces. This is not a case of 'preciousness'.

Mylovelygreendress · 24/02/2025 18:40

Wasn’t it because the writer talked about Meghan giving instructions about how to write ? Something about Meghan making noises ?
I will Google !

Also Pamela has reestablished herself as a very authentic character now living a natural life style, who has been open about her flaws and her past.
People feel warm towards Pamela and like her.

I really don't know who feels this way about M? But maybe I'm wrong and the fan base is out there. It doesn't feel that way though.

DuchessOfPort · 24/02/2025 18:43

Meghan simpered that she’d been too open and trusting with the Cut interview. Mmmm..

I think the journalist made a comment on Twitter about going on a long holiday immediately after publication but I don’t know if she was sacked. Her editor will have given it the once over so hopefully not!

Millions of MC Americans think and talk like that.

They're in America and their audience is American.

British reactions (as on this thread) are irrelevant, but that fact seems not to have sunk in in Britain.

They've put their children's images out there. We saw Archie in the bath during the Netflix series, Meghan reading a book to him, and they issued pictures of Lilibet on the occasion of her 1st birthday. They use those children when they want to. They have no moral superiority at all on this issue.
None.

Keeping the kids out of spotlight is a good move I agree. But hard if you are selling your ideal home life as the product.

We'll see if their is a US fan base which relates to M and her content. I'm going to be very interested to find out.

(I'd bet my house that the children don't have 'African features' and the suggestion they should be hidden in case they do is pretty gross)

Yet Americans on these threads say similar things to non Americans.
So not every American falls for their..... presentation.
