Catherine has returned to her public duties and has visited the Royal Marsden hospital today to “show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides".

It has been revealed that she attended her chemotherapy appointments at Royal Marsden. She thanked staff and visited patients for approximately an hour. It’s also been released that she will join William in becoming a royal patron of the hospital.

The current king is worth approx. 2 billion in private wealth

That's held up in things like land or property that can't/won't be sold.

And do we then fund mp's children and grandchildren forever?

What tax payer money is funding Prince Louis please for example?
Apart from security etc which he needs as a direct heir to the throne...

We aren't paying for his polo lessons or his ham sandwiches or anything...

Catherine has shared her and her children’s art work as part of her Shaping Us campaign, encouraging families and children to draw as a way to encourage connection with each other as well as develop creativity - and have fun!

I really love Catherine’s portrait of Louis. She’s a really good artist.

It's a seriously poor portrait given that Kate did A level Art. It shows almost no skill whatsoever. I was really surprised when the BBC said she'd done A level - assumed it was just a doodle.

A level art isn’t necessarily about skill in drawing. It could be about other media
such as textiles or clay. Why do you assume that having an A level in art means that you can draw like Leonardo?

Just some skill would be reasonable to expect.

Not a big deal though, just pointing out that I thought it was rubbish. But I do quite like the red nosed one.

Likewhatever · 17/02/2025 23:56

Surely the point is to encourage parents to draw with their children and not to worry about being able to draw well.

crumblingschools · 18/02/2025 00:25

Maybe she didn’t want it to be too perfect as she was just drawing with her children, not doing a drawing for her A-level portfolio. Also trying to encourage others to have a go. My level of drawing is much closer to the younger children’s drawings!

It’s something drawn whilst painting with the children and more than likely took a very short time to do. And yes, for someone with A Level art it probably was a doodle. A doodle done by a mum having fun with her children who was more than likely paying attention to them and what they were doing at the same time.

The doodle did resemble Louis and I suspect one day her artwork will come to light and we’ll probably see just how well she could draw.

CurlewKate · 18/02/2025 05:58

It doesn't have to be any good-that's not what it's for! It would actually defeat the object a bit if it was. I do like how whoever did the one in the armchair, presumably George, has dealt with the eternal problem of hands!

But there will be people going on about how wonderful it is- just like they did about her piano playing. Which is a bit tedious.

Some already has - Kate drew the picture of the church that appeared on Pippa’s wedding invitation, for example.

I do find it annoying when perfectly normal things are elevated because a member of the RF does them.

SnidelyWhiplash · 18/02/2025 11:26

Kate’s drawing of Louis is rubbish, but the church one is really good. I didn’t know she did that

Likewhatever · 18/02/2025 11:55

The drawing of Louis was fine, good enough to make the point that drawing with your kids can be a fun thing to do.

CurlewKate · 18/02/2025 11:56

I actually prefer the sketch of Louis. It at least has immediacy. The church sketch is drawing by numbers.

pilates · 18/02/2025 16:50

Drawing by numbers? It looks pretty good to me and hardly normal 🤨 but my drawing skills are pretty poor. I would love to be able to have that talent.

Samcro · 18/02/2025 17:06

The church one is really good

CurlewKate · 18/02/2025 17:55

For clarity, I couldn't do the church drawing-or the Louis one- if my life depended on it! But loads of people could, particularly if they went to the sort of school that teaches drawing. That's what I meant by "drawing by numbers".

jeffgoldblum · 18/02/2025 17:58

Why the criticism then? 🤷‍♀️

So .. people who can draw then...

NormaMajors1992coat · 18/02/2025 18:32

What I'm getting is "she has been taught to draw and other people can also draw, therefore the sketch is rubbish"? 🤷‍♀️

Shocker... Person who has been taught to do something, can do that thing... Even more shocking, Some better than others...

You're right, and it's so odd that women are so quick to put other women down!

You mean a school that offers classes in art from pre-school onwards, Art GCSE and A'Level? That'll be most schools, then.

NotOnThe · 18/02/2025 18:44

Great drawings
