Ouch that's got to touch a nerve for the Sussexes ! I did notice that VB was respectfully dressed as was only right for the occasion.

I am going with the laundered money theory.

if any of us presented ourselves to a bank or charity with such a large sum of money in a plastic bag we would laughed out the door (into jail).

But I am sure the connection with our current King helped.

Actually it would have been yet another red flag meaning the checks had to be done and documented very carefully. Both Charles and the Ex-Prime Minister giving the donation count as Politically-Exposed Persons, or PEPs, which require extra caution…

I’m not sure that the Sussexes would have been put off going to a state banquet because it was in honour of the morally dubious state of Qatar. They have recently been guests of the morally dubious Nigerian military and morally dubious VP of Colombia. Meghan proudly wore a pair of earrings with a morally dubious connection as well when expressly advised not to 🤷‍♀️
