Prince Harry, Amar Doman, owner of the BC Lions, and Wenshuang Nie, a competitor in the Invictus Games.

I believe he sat for an interview too.

I see there is an ad with Harry getting a tattoo for Invictus - it was filmed when he was in that tattoo place in New York.

That just doesn't reflect the core values of Invictus at all. It is an ad for Harry. Juggler, fun house visitor, now this faux skit. Celebrity Big Brother beckons.

JellyRoll, eh?

Fans were quick to react on social media however, with many in hysterics.

This is from the fortune cookie school of journalism.

Plenty of cheers for Harry, I’m glad he felt the love.

I'm Canadian and if I were there, he'd have heard a lot of boos from me. I can't get over how awful he was to his grandparents and family.

I’m not a fan of that skit but promo is promo.

Super excited for the games. I wonder if Archie might come along for a bit, it would be cool for him to see.

You’re right, not a lot of Canadians care about Harry. The cheering you heard was probably canned and not real.

Nobody cares.

There was one guy in particular booing like his first-born's life depended on it. He sure cares.

Thedom · 18/11/2024 12:34

Don't think they like him too much in Canada either, going by the handful of comments on the local newspaper, all of which are negative about him.

The ones I read were very positive.

Rhaidimiddim · 18/11/2024 18:26

William was booed because Palestine. Harry was booed because Harry.

I don't know why you are saying this.

He (Harry) got a very positive reaction.

PoW was badly advised to go to that game in Boston - the majority of those fans identify as rebel Irish. That is why he was booed.

His handlers are consistently terrible on international/foreign stuff - he needs someone who gets out a little more and is a little less Empire shall we say! :)

Why are you “super excited”? Because of the veterans or because of Harry? Do you usually support veterans and their charities or only when Invictus is on?
I think it’s unlikely Archie will be there. Why would it be a cool thing for him to see? Do they ever take him to any other sporting event? Why would he be interested in Athletics particularly?

andIsaid · 20/11/2024 15:09

You know, no matter what PH does, and no matter when he does it, people engage. And that fact is interesting.

There was a State Dinner last night. Not a word. Not a tiara in sight. No celebrations of a great British tradition. Not a word on how important our Royals are, what a benefit to society they are, what a great British display it was. A big fat hole of nothing.

They do not inspire. Not one of them is interesting enough to get a thread started. Just have a look at the threads on the royals pages over the past few months.

But PH makes an appearance? Out they come. The people who like him hope for a fan thread. The sneer and smear crew show great grit and determination in preventing that.

BUT - no matter which side they are on, people always engage for Prince Harry.

With that in mind, if, as the conceit goes, the Royal family gives us a boost on the international stage (which I don't buy), then the only one who gins up any interest is PH.

I am a Republican by the way, and hold firm beliefs that we should abolish the monarchy, stop the tax payer funding, inheritance tax avoidance, lack of financial transparency and so on, the typical thoughts on the matter of someone with my political position.

And in the interests of full disclosure, I have to go out now so cannot post for a few hours. :)

Lots of photos available . Camilla wore a beautiful velvet dress with stunning jewellery.

I’m sorry but people do not always engage with Prince Harry. He’s an idiot of the highest order

yesmen · 20/11/2024 15:18

Agree @Robynxoxo

He does look great.

Plus - he is working the room in order to help the really vunerable post war vets. Why in heavens name do people snark about that?

Those games are impoortant. For better or for worse they need a figure head like him to get attention and from that, funding.

It is one of the few truly humane, alturistic things we do now in the West.

Both. 10% of my monthly salary goes to supporting veterans in the UK and in my native country. I also meal prep for an older veteran couple in my neighbourhood. Harry mentioned talking to Archie about disabled veterans a while ago, so I thought it’d be cool for him to see them in action.

And yet, here you are!

As that poster said, no matter what side people fall on in the "love hin or hate him", they engage.

The Games have a very small reach, compared to the other charities working in veterans sports. I’m not trying to do them down - veteran support is an important area - but I think that their relative size/impact is sometimes overstated.

With the news coming out of the extent of cuts the British military is having to make to save £500m

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2k0292v0w1o www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2k0292v0w1o]]]]

then it is important that they get the funds to stage Birmingham without recourse to public funds - the MoD pledge to underwrite up to £26m looks bad against the current backdrop (though I do realise that it is bound to be off a different budget subhead- I just hope that the books balance)

I’m not engaging WITH hapless Harry, in engaging with the person who thinks everyone engages with him which they don’t

Thedom · 20/11/2024 16:21

"Not a word on how important our Royals are, what a benefit to society they are, what a great British display it was".

Because the importance is a given.

Lots of photos, but yes, if Catherine had been there it would be all over the global news.

Agree with this but interestingly the last lot of accounts filed show Invictus raising and spending roughly in the region of £2.5m which seems pretty low in relation to their size even if it is relatively modest.

Yet another financial mystery to add to the list.
