I think after the Queen passed, the royal family should start “winding down” and cease to exist.

Kate’s kids are dressed like Edwardians and there’s no need for it at all.

Let me guess - you're not an expert in historical costume?

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 24/07/2024 19:34

I think Kate and William are good parents and not at all boring. I much prefer their family vibe to the grandiosity of some RF members. It much more appropriate for the current era when so many half arsed wannabe’s are famous for nothing.

@sausawyee ' Friend's daughter's son' 😂 Yes, pull the other one! And I danced with the man, who danced with the girl, who danced with the prince of wales!

I don't care if you don't believe it. I could name names but of course wouldn't as that would be a bit dim.

CurlewKate · 24/07/2024 19:38

I would knit beside the tumbril.

Enko · 24/07/2024 19:38

Another one whom doesn't like Princess Anne. Nor do I think she is "hard working" (I'm aware she does a lot of engagements.but that's not hard work imo to be fair that goes for all of them w engagements)

I find her unpleasant and unnecessary harsh. One of those so-called "call a spade a spade " personalities whim are actually just rude and unpleasant and thinks about themselves first and foremost.

Thewaytogohome · 24/07/2024 19:40

How unfair it was when William and Kate were able to take their children to see a panto during covid when other pantos were cancelled. It was a special performance for NHS workers and families, and I think it's unfair that they went as well. I'm still bitter that I missed out on panto that year but they didn't. A very minor thing when thinking about the context however what else did we miss out on that people in privileged positions didn't? They seem to struggle to read the room.

CurlewKate · 24/07/2024 19:42

I don't think any of them work hard.

@Ellerby83

QE2 only became popular in the last 20 years or so of her life

This is actually true. People who don't know this are either too young to remember, or got taken in by the deluge of propaganda in her later life. I actually admired her but I am not under any illusion as to how much manipulation has gone on over the years.

I think it's far more nuanced than that

She was very popular in the 50s after the accession, and that lasted in to the 60s (though Margaret eclipsed her in embracing the zeitgeist). Late 60s and early 70s fairly pedestrian, but popularity soared at the time of the Silver Jubilee

80s pretty good - RF actually fashionable thanks to the Sloane Ranger handbook and the influence of Diana and Sarah.

90s simply dreadful - annus horribilis etc, and a long climb back to the Golden Jubilee. Then pretty even course with highlights at other jubilees

CurlewKate · 24/07/2024 19:43

I think it's outrageous that Camilla is Queen and if it's true that William doesn't want anything to do with her, I agree with him. On that at least.

I agree. Their PR team does work hard though to keep them popular.

notatinydancer · 24/07/2024 19:45

The RF needs abolishing. Although judging from posts on here this opinion is not that unpopular.

CarmelaBrunella · 24/07/2024 19:46

I think it's a bit sad that folks can't get past Diana's death and just move on. She wasn't a saint.

Bignanna · 24/07/2024 19:46

Depends what you class as work. Being pleasant to people that are boring, appearing to be interested in things you’re not, having to look perfect, composed, setting an good example, opening events, shaking hands, being involved in charities etc etc. That is their work .

The only thing I like about them is that Camilla is Queen.

Georgyporky · 24/07/2024 19:47

I wish they would all fuck off, & I would be a citizen & not a subject.

You're a citizen.
You're not a subject, that's a popular myth

That they shouldn't exist 😬🤭

id prefer the royal family anyday especially from an economic perspective

Pinkchicken75 · 24/07/2024 19:48

That the Queen Mum caused a lot of trouble.
Also her teeth were awful

JohnnyAndTheDead · 24/07/2024 19:48

Christ0nABike · 24/07/2024 18:36

Diana wouldn’t be so fawned over now if she wasn’t dead.

Agreed. She has some kind of saintly aura now but she really wasn't thought of that way towards the end of her life.

Camilla is doing a great job and keeping Charles very happy which Diana couldn't do.

Mine is that Kate is inexcusably lazy, illness notwithstanding.

OperationGoldenDawn · 24/07/2024 19:49

problem with some of the public and the royal family, is they believe some articles rather than detailed research as to the full advantages of the uk having the royal family

What about if its nothing to do with money? What about if its more related to thinking that no family or set of people should be seen as more special than another?

Overall they really seem to enjoy the perks of their position - sporting events, Taylor Swift, etc - stark contrast to the way they seem to do the minimum possible on the work side.

Which in some ways is fair enough - many people would do the same. What I find strange is the number of fans/admirers they have - I really don't get what they have done to deserve it.

Their pr people on the other hand clearly deserve a lot of credit

choccytime · 24/07/2024 20:03

I like Anne and Camilla looks like a right laugh . Would love to have a few glasses of wine with her

BarHumbugs · 24/07/2024 20:06

Diana wasn't particularly good looking, she just looked good in comparison as the rest of them are so ugly.
