I worked with historians of Germany in the 90s (several of whom were German) and they were adamant that Germany started WWI and had planned for the war for some time (railways, military plans etc). The Kaiser was a very belligerent character and insanely jealous of Britain's colonies and navy - in a really childish and petulant way. It was his visit to the Cowes regatta (I think while Victoria was still alive??) and seeing the British Dreadnoughts that was the last straw for him.

I don't know if historical opinion has changed since then, but at that time the blame was firmly put on Germany, and the old idea of the balance of power/treaties etc was out of fashion.

Likewhatever · 24/07/2024 19:20

I think the Markle family, in particular Doria Ragland, got off extremely lightly in terms of media interest compared to the Middletons.

MotherOfCatBoy · 24/07/2024 19:20

That I don’t mind having a “royal” family but I shouldn’t have to pay a fucking penny towards them. They can support the whole soap opera themselves. Oh, and they should have absolutely nothing to do with government - no Speech, no interviews with Prime Ministers, no His Majesty’s Government…
Hang on a minute, I think I’m in favour of a constitutional crisis…

TheWoodlanders · 24/07/2024 19:20

@Serenster what a fascinating man Franz Von Bayern is. I had no idea! I wonder if anyone has written a biography. I'd be very interested to read it.

That Diana was mentally unstable and that was passed onto Harry. He was an easy target for someone as ambitious as Meghan and they're now co-dependent on each other in a horribly toxic relationship. And I believe her children were carried by a surrogate but are genetically theirs. Hence they were told to sling their hooks and fast.

There is no doubt she carried both children. She is one of those women who gets very moon faced with pregnancy. It was obvious.

sausawyee · 24/07/2024 19:22

MartyFunkhouser · 24/07/2024 19:12

I think that people that camp out and wave flags at them have to be mentally ill.

I care not a jot about any of them and think it’d be a better place without them.

That sounds logical not!

TheWoodlanders · 24/07/2024 19:22

@sausawyee according to @ElsaLion she had dermal fillers to make a her fcae look rounder during her fake pregnancy. Bonkers.

Ellerby83 · 24/07/2024 19:23

Yes she took a while to lose the baby weight (nothing wrong with that) and her face really looked different.

ElsaLion · 24/07/2024 19:23

@sausawyee Then how do you explain the popping belly when she squatted on stilettos at 7 months pregnant, plus the occasions when her 'belly' clearly slipped down to her knees when she was leaving another function?

MartyFunkhouser · 24/07/2024 19:24

I think Kate is as dull as ditchwater.

Twistybranch · 24/07/2024 19:24

LaMarschallin · 24/07/2024 19:02

I don't think Diana was a particularly good mother.

Agree.
Emotionally unstable, sort of became enmeshed with William, bath mouthing Dads partner (she called her the Rottweiler), inviting odd people into her life, victim complex…you name it.

I know she was loving and fun, I just think she was very immature, even once in her 30s.

Twistybranch · 24/07/2024 19:25

MartyFunkhouser · 24/07/2024 19:24

I think Kate is as dull as ditchwater.

Totally agree. I think that her superpower though….thats why she doesn’t tend to attract drama

NiceCutRoundDomeDormice · 24/07/2024 19:25

Meghan Markle is neither a poor persecuted vulnerable little thing who was treated appallingly by a racist public and press, nor a scheming deranged harpy who controls Harry and is desperate to overthrow the monarchy at all costs. The truth probably encompasses elements of both extremes, but try to deny one extreme view of her and people assume you must hold the other.

Dismissing minor royals as “hangers on” is a very basic and somewhat ignorant approach. The likes of the Dukes of Gloucester and Kent were much closer to the throne at one point, were Counsellors of State etc. They were raised to potentially be senior royals; it’s only the size of the Queen’s family that pushed them so far down the list (and only their longevity that has really made it such an issue). It made me laugh when Harry and Meghan supporters were up in arms that these “hangers on” were princes when Archie wasn’t (even though he wasn’t entitled to be at the time anyway) - completely ignoring that they are male line grandchildren of a sovereign, which is as far up the tree as Archie and Lilibet will ever get.

TheWoodlanders · 24/07/2024 19:26

I think Diana was a Disney mum.

She seemed like a good mum in comparison to the queen. Which was a very low bar indeed.

PilatesPeach · 24/07/2024 19:26

They are not animal lovers as they profess to be - they hunt and kill and horse racing is cruel not a sport.

That whoever encounters them should not follow the stupid protocols that are completely made up and bollocks. Never asking direct questions, curtsying and the like, if they are staying somewhere, that everyone else can go to hell because they come first, they are literally just people who won the birth lottery! It’s all so pointless, take Lady Louise, I mean what’s with the Lady shit, and what’s really weird is if I met her, I’d probably start acting all over polite and hanging on every word like a sycophant, for no other reason than I have been brainwashed into believing these people are better than all of us. Can you imagine sitting in class at school next to Lord Jayden or Lady Ellie Mae, no because everyday people don’t just hand out pointless titles like they are giving out smarties. My point? The royals still sit on a pot and shit and are no more deserving than any of us, that includes the landed gentry and all that bollocks as well!

This really made me chuckle 😃...And I completely agree 👍

That Harry and Meghan's children 'Archie' and 'Lilibet' are fictional and don't exist, and the photographs/footage of them are in fact the children of close friends, especially given the mysterious nature of their births, the fact virtually no one has seen them, parents holidaying every 3-4 weeks without children etc.

I actually know someone whose friend's daughter's son was in the same nursery as Archie 😂😂

neilyoungismyhero · 24/07/2024 19:27

ElsaLion · 24/07/2024 18:00

@TheWoodlanders Have a good look at the photos of Stassi Schroeder's daughter Hartford, from when she was 2-3 years old, and the so-called images of 'Lilibet', there's a very strange resemblance don't you think? Misan Harriman also admitted to heavily editing photos said to be of 'Archie'.

If they exist, why has no one ever seen them? None of their neighbours? Archie is old enough to be at school, yet he is never seen being taken to school, nor has there been any indication from local schools that he is a student. Also their birth certificates, especially 'Lilibet's', contained several irregularities that would make it legally void.

And surely you can't forget the time when Meehan visited the dog rescue, crouching in stilettos when allegedly 7 months pregnant, and her belly popped!

You need help.

You make it sound like pedophilia is an eccentric quirk. I am certain there are none in my family.

Apologies if I gave that impression - I was actually referring more general "black sheep" term.

ElsaLion · 24/07/2024 19:29

@sausawyee ' Friend's daughter's son' 😂 Yes, pull the other one! And I danced with the man, who danced with the girl, who danced with the prince of wales!

I'm trying to work out if that poster is taking the piss or does indeed need serious help.

CarmelaBrunella · 24/07/2024 19:30

Raising a daughter in California, yet calling her Princess Lilibet Diana is a weird thing to do.

ElsaLion · 24/07/2024 19:30

@neilyoungismyhero So do you, to believe everything the media and royal family tell you!

BeautyPageantDropout · 24/07/2024 19:31

They're all so dull and so plain.

HotChocolateNotCocoa · 24/07/2024 19:33

Serenster · 24/07/2024 19:16

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the current Jacobite heir to the claims of the historical Stuart monarchs is Franz, Duke of Bavaria, of the House of Wittelsbach 🤣

I’d kind of love him to launch a serious campaign for the throne, just to watch the Catholic Church go into complete meltdown. Imagine - they take control of the world’s most powerful monarchy after nearly 350 years, but at the cost of having an openly gay king! 😆😆
