I’ve been following as best I can all the tea on the maverick prince aka Harry. I thought I would do a poll, a not very scientific one. 😊

Why did he hate those men who helped him so much? None of this makes sense.

Because they know the truth.

And he is probably worried that one of them will exhibit the same gobshite tendencies one day.

KatyaKabanova · 20/07/2024 11:09

Thank you. I think he's lucky people don't treat him as bad as he treats them.

Going by how he has behaved since he left the family I would suggest that he just doesn't like being told what to do. The late Queen probably made him listen but now he doesn't have to and he resents their interference.

Sorry, my misunderstanding, I thought you felt sorry for him or something similar. I don't.

I do feel sorry for him, I feel sorry for anyone who is struggling with their mental health and appears to be making things worse for themselves.

But I don't respect him and he seems like an absolute pain to deal with.

MrsLeonFarrell · 20/07/2024 11:17

Boohbooh · 20/07/2024 10:35

Two great points, particularly the second one. He was so much better off within the family and all the levels of protection that gave him.

He and Meghan could have been like Princess Anne - she did not give her children titles and they seem to be quite balanced adults with private lives. As someone not directly in line for the throne you can get all the advantages without the major pressure. He could have reframed his life in a very positive way.

l do think a different wife could have steered him in this direction and could have supported him in dealing with his mental health issues rather than goading him on.

I don't think we really know what Meghan has tried to do. I thought it was interesting that she stayed out of the way whilst he promoted Spare.

CathyorClaire · 20/07/2024 11:20

I can't see the poll but I'm suggesting less maverick, more grifter.

Diana called them the men in grey suits (they probably were in the 80s but much more diverse team now) and I think he is just using the same language without really thinking it through.

It is interesting isn’t it?

People very much stepped up for Meghan.

Meghan doesn’t seem to step up much for anyone. Unless it benefits her.

Do I think she was wise to step back during the Spare fuss and bother? Undoubtedly.

I wonder how he felt about her lack of public support.

I read something the other day about QE2 giving £12,000,000 to Prince Andrew to pay off a woman he never met for something he never did.
That is nuts. The royal family is nuts.
However I am not in the UK so probably don't get it really. I quite like Harry though.

That's gone up the rumours first started at five million pound loan against his Swiss chalet sale

I wonder whether she thought it was a bad idea but couldn't really stop him. I wouldn't want to be associated with it and some of the stories weren't very flattering to her.

£12 million?

The Bunty has never been known for its accurate sources.

FloofPaws · 20/07/2024 11:45

Maverick ... no ... Muppet ... oh yes indeed!!

Wrong beak.

“Lordy, we now have to post according to when someone feels it appropriate and whilst doing that why not stake a 🇬🇧 flag into the ground claiming Mumsnet for the UK. 🙄 For the cherry on top change the website url from .com to co.uk also to drive home the message.”

Ha ha. The little Englander mentality is alive and well with some, I agree. 😊

They were also hiding what she was up to as well.

smilesy · 20/07/2024 10:17

No. It was more that certain posters who are fans tend to pop up overnight 😆. It was just an observation. Mumsnet belongs to us all

It’s a 24 hour poll running for a week. Ever heard of insomnia in the wee hours?

FloofPaws · 20/07/2024 11:53

@Spookshaveadifferentopinion 🤣🤣 brilliant!

Back then.

I read this book. 😊 Enjoyed it.

Did you not read my reply to this? It happens all the time that the pro Harry brigade post overnight in the UK. So I was just observing that the timing seemed a bit skewed to take account of this. The poll won’t be much of a representation anyway though as it does not work on the app

You didn’t include an emoji or a picture @smilesy so they might not have quite understood.

I think that may be why they resorted to insults.

Not my experience and who cares what time of day people come on here. Shift workers, insomniacs, boredom, isolated, different time zones whatever the reason stop trying to disrespect people who view Harry differently to yourself. Your words just confirm your own biases. A poll that runs for a week is plenty time to get all the insults in from the anti Harry ‘brigade‘ too.

NotaDuchessIworkalot · 20/07/2024 12:26

Nor me. I’m gonna buy myself a copy! 😊

I like the royal family. I’m happy to admit that. But if a valid replacement was found and it was the will of the people then that would be fine by me too, although I would prefer to keep all the history and ceremony. I think Harry has behaved appallingly and don’t understand why he wants to continue to associate with the RF he’s says he hates (because however he wants to spin it, the family and the “institution” are totally intertwined). And I have observed differently, as have many on here. There are definitely times of day when certain posters rock up and add their two penny worth. So I’m not showing bias, just a healthy suspicion 😊
