A fitting endorsement from Fred Hargreaves OBE who on X wrote, “As ever, a genuine and heart-felt speech from the Duke of Sussex - the driving force and passion behind the #InvictusGames. So good to see this Award, and share the stage with Elizabeth, Kirsty and Israel.”

From the Royal Website, how the ‘driving force’ - Harry - brought Invictus into being:

https://www.royal.uk/invictus-games

Positive Harry posts have been flooding X. Haters were out too. Some negatively posting in a quasi-forensic manner. No ‘gotcha’ revelations, however, nor tens of thousands of likes which the repost of Harry’s speech on ESPN by the knowledgeable Robert Griffin III now has. In less than 2 days 51+K likes and still rising.

I also checked out some (too many) #Sussexsquad posters. It revealed teachers, veterans, different nationalities, colours, creeds, nurses, retired folk etc etc. Thus I formed a completely different understanding about the use of the hashtag to support the Sussex family. There were also very strange users of the hashtag too. The hashtag was additionally utilised to send the message out on X to put the anti-Harry and Meghan posters or ‘derangers’, as they are often called, on mute and not to engage. Quite a restrained and civil position to promote and many did just that. Invictus awareness was successfully brought to those who had never heard of the international fraternity of veterans with disabilities and injuries by this hashtag alone.

Watching the videos on X I saw Harry speak with sincerity and humility under pressure. His words, “The truth is, I stand here not as Prince Harry, Pat Tillman Award recipient, but rather a voice on behalf of the Invictus Games Foundation and the thousands of veterans and service personnel from over 20 nations who have made the Invictus Games a reality. This award belongs to them. Not to me.”

Harry has now been awarded, by a very diverse online presence, a new respect. And I do believe he’s also a jolly good fellow…and so say many, many, many of us. 😊💙

I am so glad I went on my very new X twitter account for I was disgusted with the Daily Mail’s use of Pat Tillman’s mother to denigrate Prince Harry as it was totally uncalled for. Call it for what it was - a hit piece of journalism designed to create a mini storm online. We know nothing about the context of how they obtained words supposedly said by Pat’s mother about Harrry. I was aghast too at how Pat’s widow has also been treated by some online posters. Her foundation may not be perfect but she does more than anyone to honour him. Pat’s mother also did not go on any mainstream American media either where her complaints would have been listened to and would have provided the much needed context for the hate motivated article by a newspaper under the spotlight for its nefarious journalism and click bait articles about Harry.

Harry’s response was beautiful. The way Harry acknowledged Pat’s mother went further than him being a royal. It was a standout out moment of what being human is all about. I do believe he’s also a jolly good fellow…and so say many, many, many of us. 😊💙

I think the guy said enough with his timing.

So soon after the controversial Nigeria trip and the controversial Tillman award, and so close to the Winter games, the negativity around Harry is at an all time high after Nigeria and the Pat Tillman award, both of which were done under the Invictus umbrella, he clearly isn’t protecting Harry with his statement.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were panic negotiations going on at Invictus to try to retain him until after Vancouver (which was his idea and his dream) knowing how it would look.

His statement would have been agreed with Invictus, maybe as part of ‘a good leaver’ negotiation.

His timing is the crucial all important factor, that was a strong message, most can read between the lines.

I too think the timing speaks volumes. And that isn’t “magical thinking”, it’s a logical conclusion. As to him not saying anything negative about Harry, well of course he wouldn’t. He is a professional person and knows how to write a letter of resignation without making himself sound like a mardy twat who blames other people, thus rendering himself unemployable in one fell swoop 🙄

MummyJ12 · 21/07/2024 14:52

@AliceOlive I think some posters fail to read between the lines.
They also like to mock other posters’ valid opinions.
Another joyful use of linguistics though! Is it like Bue Sky Thinking?!

AliceOlive · 21/07/2024 14:25

If Invictus think it’s time for Harry to move on it’s going to be like Joe Biden, isn’t it?

Edited

Oh god, yes. Sometimes people are just a liability.
Definitely time for Harry to go. He won't though.

DelectableMe · 21/07/2024 14:54

Yes, not everyone trashes other people just to look good. That's a personal speciality of Harry and Meghan.

CathyorClaire · 21/07/2024 20:35

After all the discussion about the Invictus accounts I took a look and found an entry in the grants section involving something called Blackmane Media. Same amount recorded as negative (liability) one year and positive the next (expenditure of restricted funds?).

Anyways. This appears to pertain to the making of a short film on the healing of nature which is apparently due to be entered into 2024 film festivals while also appearing to be available on Youtube.

Wondering why no Invictus drum banging for this and why not Netflix?

Anyone know?

I think his statement

"I think now it requires energy and a fresh look to engage it and take it to the next level. I think it's a good time for all of us,"

Could possibly imply something that the supporters have missed. I think he truly believes that it’s time for Harry to go aswell.

That's what I took from it, too.

Morethanafeelingbutbesmart · 22/07/2024 00:15

Reading some of the so called humour on here at Harry’s expense is quite frankly disgusting. Talk about dehumanising someone you don’t know and who has effected more change for more people than many others. Conflating arguments, low brow comments and the belief that unrelated events are causally connected despite the absence of evidence says it all really.

I don’t think I’ve known any in real life who hero worship a nasty liar @DelectableMe

Unless of course they are lacking.

You call him a liar but that doesn’t make it true. You just believe it and throw darts at him all the time. So sad….

Morethanafeelingbutbesmart · 22/07/2024 00:20

ConstantGarden1 · 19/07/2024 21:49

Yes, I read the letter. Super words from an honourable man who knows more about Harry than the combined efforts of all the naysayers on here.

They won’t be losing any sleep over a few commentators on Mumsnet. 😊

DunkThatBastardBiscuit · 22/07/2024 00:20

Not sad.

True.

He is a liar.

I’ve seen more muck thrown by the other side against Haz and anyone who supports him than I care to think on. Thousands of messages of support as @ConstantGarden1 rightly posted were placed under the # were really pukka. Opponents using f*ck you, 🐀 emojis and generally being mean were bypassed by so many of the # users. As a follower of Invictus since inception the amount of accolades posted on ESPN where they stated they had zero knowledge of all that Haz has done until that award can be seen as a home run for Invictus.

😂👍👍👍

Morethanafeelingbutbesmart · 22/07/2024 00:22

DeftLemonDog · 20/07/2024 00:31

I also read the letter, ConstantGarden. And agree.

“…It has been a privilege to work closely with Prince Harry to deliver his vision of an international sporting event for those who have served, and for their families and friends. His concept, passion, and drive have been instrumental in our success, in particular by focussing attention on mental health in sports rehabilitation…”

I don’t like all the things Harry has done. On the poll on the other thread I voted ‘I like him a little’. I’d vote the same for William. Admittedly, not Charles though.

I do like how Harry has so successfully championed Invictus.

Reasonable and spot on.

Of course not. They travel on magic carpets, blow fairy dust out of their nose and lay golden eggs for all their children. 😂

Look, I know he’s done a ton of various drugs and even stolen Meg’s gas while she was in labor but that’s downright rude.

Besides, I think he snorts it in rather than blowing it out.

Oh my god. Stealing the anaesthetic from your wife in child labour has to be a particularly low point. Even for Harry. Who sets a very low bar.

AutumnCrow · 22/07/2024 06:52

Harry is the ultimate gas guzzler.

At home and abroad, this guy is the grifting gurning global gas guzzler.

And yet you posted this on the 'poll' thread about the royal family shortly after.

'Tired of all this saintly Catherine stuff. She comes across as rather dull and not the brightest of bulbs even if she went to Uni. She also tries so hard to appear more than she actually is. It just gives rise to that artificial stiffness and the weird facial expressions she is prone to. Scrubs up well but who wouldn’t with the wealth at her husband’s disposal. Stepford wife material for the royalist propaganda machine. Plenty of insiders have talked in the past about how she and boring William would not speak for weeks and throw pillows at one another when arguing.'

DelectableMe · 22/07/2024 07:49

What horrible things to say about Catherine. "Stepford Wife" and "not the brightest bulb". Misogynist and totally unsubstantiated.

Vespanest · 22/07/2024 08:34

The gas and air story was definitely a pulps common people moment of the book. How to relate to the peasants who are reading with my description of the really expensive maternity ward. I know tell them I behaved like “just Harry” from the cul de sac. High on the nitrous oxide, ignoring the wife and stuffing my face with Nando’s, that must be pretty normal and the readers will so relate.

This was more or less said about Catherine in both Spare and Endgame, so it's not a surprise coming from Sussex supporters. Any time they complain about tabloid hacks monetising Sussex gossip, they might want to remember that no royal journalist ever made millions out of pedaling gossip about someone they purport to love like the sister they never had.
