Will he?

I am no gambler but I can’t see it myself. Not unless he wants to show his support of his son. Would KC be that generous to his ‘darling boy’? If he did it will definitely upset some anti Harry royalists/daily mail readers/ right wing Americans. Can’t have Harry receiving the King surely….he is supposed to be beyond the pale these days.

William is reported as being ‘baffled’. Baffled? More like blazingly angry about it if true. I guess Will’s thought he could act like a ‘cuckoo’ and get Harry out now and forever. Maybe, the ‘bullying’ trait reported over the years by many, many people regarding him is still there.

Any article containing the words "reportedly" and "a source" is invariably pure speculation or an interested party trying to influence public opinion - and therefore not worth reading. This is especially true of anything written about the Royal Family.

The other day I heard someone comment “that at this point ‘a royal expert’ could be a couch.”

🛋️🪑🚪<— ‘royal expert’, ‘unnamed source’, ‘a close friend of’, ‘insider’.

CurlewKate · 03/07/2024 05:26

@Makemydaypunk "But the ‘republicans’ always have so much sympathy for the Duke and Duchess and fight their corner so I can’t take them seriously, no sympathy or understanding for any other family members so I find them completely disingenuous, their agenda is clear."

Ah. That's where we differ. I don't take ANYONE who posts about the royal family seriously!

Makemydaypunk · 03/07/2024 12:35

I presume that includes yourself as a regular RF poster?

Eh? Not sure what you mean. If you mean do I regard the RF boards as light entertainment, then yes.

We know nothing about their real lives either father or sons. We only hear and read what we are fed, and make up the rest in our heads.

The drama is created by the media and gossip columns and for some it is addictive and then comes the speculation, spite, envy and judgment.

For all we know they could be getting along ok, at a distance, like many a family who left behind their loved ones on emigration to places like Australia, in this case it's California.

I'd like to think that's the case anyway, and highly suspect that under the surface of endless speculation and media stirring, it is. They just don't want us to know too much about it. Let's face it, the minute any of them open their mouths about anything a hundred spins are put on their utterances and the cycle of polarised venom ensues.

Totally agree with this ^^

And thank heavens sanity prevails on a RF thread! It's quite heartening to see.

I think if Harry wants to see his Dad it would be easy to just jump on a plane - I mean he managed to get to Nigeria which I guess took a few more plane changes than LA to London.

William has had to put up with his brother and sister in law insulting his wife, making serious claims about his father and wife that they've had to row back on, put up with spurious, damaging and unfounded rumours spread by his brother and sister in law's supporters. Damned right he's baffled and 'blazingly angry'.

If William was on MN he'd be told to go no contact with his nut job brother and sister in law and protect his wife and family. Which, of course, is exactly what he's doing.

Absolutely right!

A couple of months ago, after Catherine was forced to make her cancer diagnosis public, you started a thread about how depressed you were about what had been said by H&M supporters about her, and forgiving yourself for your part in it. That doesn't sound like "light entertainment" to me.

I apologise in advance and I know the source below is dodgy, but again a family that is not broken does not need to reunify

the family rift

Really great to see the ABC Chicago interview which, funnily enough, I haven't seen linked to any articles in the British media!

It really makes a mockery of all of the twisted hype we get fed in the uk doesn't it, as it shows Harry being calm, sensible and fielding difficult questions on the hoof with restraint and skill. And no he is not making Invictus all about him, he is putting the charity at the forefront.

Thanks for the reminder, @Vespanest . The notion that the media is simply guessing about the family relationships between the RF and the Sussexes, when one side has repeatedly been hugely indiscreet about this (whether they are telling the truth or not) is disingenuous to say the least.

CurlewKate · 04/07/2024 15:50

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar if you searched enough to find that post (which didn't actually say what you are saying it said) you will have seen my other posts on the topic. I leave them with you for your edification and delight. Have fun.

I didn’t need to search for it, @CurlewKate , I remember the thread you started.

BemusedAmerican · 04/07/2024 16:18

Everyone saw the interview, which he did after literally spending about 20 minutes with his father before flying back to the US to attend an awards ceremony. It doesn't improve my image of him.

There are loads of flights from LA to New York, and from NYC to London. Harry and family can fly over to London quite easily.

It is not safe in California due to the wildfires. I had to keep my windows closed for days and wear a mask last summer in NYC due to Canadian fires. KC is recovering from cancer and should not be exposed to wildfire smoke, which is probably permeating the whole state. I cannot believe anyone is suggesting that KC go anywhere near California.

I really think you should desist from badgering another poster, and referring to their posts on other threads, just because they happen to hold a different viewpoint to your own. It’s a bit over-the-top and unnecessary frankly.

I'm curious as to why someone who just a few posts ago said "I am a republican so I don't really care one way or another" is trawling the 'British media' for links to an old interview with a member of the royal family?

And your last paragraph makes it clear you very much do care one way. Not the other. The 'I don't care about any of this and just happened to post multiple times on a royal family discussion' is getting very old.

Makemydaypunk · 04/07/2024 17:35

Isn’t it just, pretending to be republicans yet are clearly massive fans of Meghan and Harry, at least own your fandom.

It is amazing how many folk hold this opinion and yet make their way to the Royal threads to cock a snook.

Only thing that grows like weeds - but faster.

At least they bring their own manure. 🌱

Using phrases like 'the British media' really give it away for me.

There is no unified 'British media'. All manner of political and social opinions are represented in the 'British media' as you would expect in a modern democracy. Anyone who talks of the 'British media' as if it spoke with one voice is basically saying that they haven't got a clue. And that they are huge fans of fans of Harry and Meghan. Republican fans, of course.

I doubt that anyone really cares what an old man does in his spare time.

I'm sure she can speak for herself, she's a very robust and regular poster. And I am not badgering her, I am merely pointing out that she hasn't always treated the RF board as "light entertainment" (her words).

As CurlewKate said, you can still be a Republican and have an opinion about the individuals involved. The family soap opera is interesting!

One of the many reasons I want a Republic is that some members of the RF end up as collateral damage in order to satisfy the demands of the institution of the monarchy. And I think this is antiquated and unnecessary in 2024, particularly when it concerns children.

Also, I studied history at university and continue to have an interest in all sorts of topics related to the governance and constitution of the uk if that’s ok with you?

I happen to think that Harry and his wife have been treated poorly by the institution, so yes I do tend to be on his side generally, not with everything, but mostly, and I am glad he is shaking things up a bit frankly! This is no secret! I’ve stated this many times and never made a secret of it!

I didn’t realise I needed approval from you to share an honest opinion on a public forum. Perhaps I should bow my head and ask you to sign my permission chit next time? 😀
