Lesser mortals?

Thanks but considering how many ‘lesser’ mortals are awaiting treatment this is snark many can do without. As for a ‘show’, well the mind can only wonder about that point.

Lesser mortals?

Most lesser mortals had been out of work on a benefit, wating for treatment and taking care of children and a household. The show goes on.
I guess this lady has all the help she needs... so the show goes on...

upinaballoon · 16/06/2024 14:43

Who wrote the headline? Was it a member of the Royal Family or a journalist?

Hallamlass · 16/06/2024 14:44

It's Allison Pearson. Who I wouldn't pay attention to.
From the Telegraph. Ditto.

Hallamlass · 16/06/2024 14:45

The opinion of one journalist is just that.
No more.

Tizzwazz · 16/06/2024 15:00

The Telegraph leads and the Daily Mail follows. As always with the establishment press.

I think that NHS patients can do without the tonic but would definitely have better outcomes with some of that chemo!

It was a Birthday Parade of an unelected Head of State. End of.

No. They have different owners and editorial staff.
End of.

upinaballoon · 16/06/2024 15:12

In Catherine's own statement last Friday I don't think she described herself as brave and I don't think she used any of the words 'selfless', 'tonic' or 'show'. I must attribute words to the people who actually come out with them.

I am old enough to remember the film of 'My Fair Lady', when Audrey Hepburn wore a black and white outfit and a large hat, so I quite like the reference to that.

bridgerbelle · 16/06/2024 15:12

It is a stupid and offensive article, likely designed to illicit this reaction for clicks. That said, it's not the Princess's fault that someone wrote it.

I Don't Know How She Does It seems to be her theme. Terrible book.

Just one of a very long list of repellent things Allison Pearson has said or written.

Have to agree. Really poor taste to write such an article. In a so called broadsheet too. Of course, if it was Meghan there would a totally different type of reaction. 🙄

Hallamlass · 16/06/2024 16:00

Broadsheet newspapers are no better than tabloids.

Never said it was POW’s fault. I find anything in the establishment press with Meghan or Kate is a deliberate ploy to drive clicks thus revenue.

But they are Royal. End of. As you like to remind us about the Sussexes 😊

AP is an appalling client journalist, long on my block list. Currently being destroyed on X and rightly so. A senior consultant clinical oncologist has now politely chastised her, and she's doubling down instead of apologising. She's doing the RF no favours with this puff piece and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets quietly deleted.

She lives for clicks, but this one is particularly disgraceful and offensive.

No such thing as "establishment press".
The royal family and the government of the day always get a rough ride, justified, usually.

Excellent post! Too bl%$dy right. Dragging on cancer patients is the lowest of the low.

I think it is really lovely that Catherine felt well enough to go and looked absolutely amazing. Like I said elsewhere, it feels like a return to normal.

What isn’t ok is how Alison Pearson’s wish to compliment the PoW has upset several people living with cancer and the clinicians who work with them by using the phrase “lesser mortals”. I was hoping that the subheading was a result of perhaps an editor but AP herself has been defending this. I hope that journalists will perhaps reflect on this - it is fantastic that the PoW felt well enough to go, it has cheered many people who were concerned, it was so nice to see the family happy and well turned out - it did not take warrant putting down other people to make this point though.

She's a repugnant woman.

but AP herself has been defending this

Seriously, how?
I've tried Googling and have only found the (very appropriate) criticism of her words.
I've no idea how she can defend this.

Agree. It panders to those of little brain. It's click bait. It would be madness to then link such a piece to real life and see any serious connection.

"Excellent post! Too bl%$dy right. Dragging on cancer patients is the lowest of the low."

Yet @Tizzwazz you chose to post this despite the fact that that is what it was doing. Seems you are now changing your mind. You could always report your own post as being insensitive.

@Tizzwazz isn't dragging down any cancer patient? quite the reverse, she is defending us from that horrendous insult yesterday, when we were labelled "lesser mortals" - and I feel very encouraged by this thread. Thanks you @Tizzwazz That awful awful newspaper report was really upsetting and depressing yesterday.
