Lesser mortals?

Thanks but considering how many ‘lesser’ mortals are awaiting treatment this is snark many can do without. As for a ‘show’, well the mind can only wonder about that point.

Lesser mortals?

Agree. It panders to those of little brain. It's click bait. It would be madness to then link such a piece to real life and see any serious connection.

unfortunately, this is what is happening, we "lesser mortals" are publicly being told we are not as brave, not as great, not as hard working, not as beautiful, etc - it is all over the media in many forms, Somebody yesterday called the POW "the bravest woman in Britain" really? How about a cancer patient I know who can't walk unaided but completed a marathon to raise money for charity a week ago? Braver than putting on a pretty dress and waving, wouldn't you say? All best wishes to POW - these disgusting press reports are not under her control

Have to agree. Really poor taste to write such an article. In a so called broadsheet too. Of course, if it was Meghan there would a totally different type of reaction. 🙄

This latest effort of Alison Pearson is so hurtful and insulting to all the people who have suffered cancer. And to their loved ones. Kate would hate this.

I am astonished that Pearson is not backing down. Actually I’m surprised that the Telegraph hasn’t taken it down. I suspect it’s proving to effective clickbait.

I just looked back over the articles this ‘journalist’ has written and found an answer to something I’d wondered about. Earlier this year, there were many references on sm to ‘the Montecito person sticking pins in wax figures’ and at the time, I wondered where the phrasing originated at that time. Why wre there so many posts and tweets all referring to ‘pins and wax figures’? It was from an Alison Pearson article.

“With both the King and the Princess of Wales undergoing hospital treatment, I did briefly wonder whether a certain someone in Montecito has been sticking pins into the wax effigies again...”

She doesn’t hide her biases. Doesn’t even try to.

@noshadowatnoon that was not @Tizzwazz intention in my opinion. You have misunderstood my point about her using this. We shall have to agree to differ about Tizzwass posting. It's that that I am talking about- her intention - as opposed to the article itself.

JamieFraserSporran · 17/06/2024 10:48

Sorry that last sentence is a mess. To rephrase - I don't believe that Tizzwass posted that article to support other cancer sufferers. I believe it was to get a dig at the POW . That was my point.

This. Fortunately most people recognise that the comments of a thoughtless and clearly biased journalist have nothing to do with the Princess. So the dig isn’t landing 😊

eta especially as the OP has previously said she ❤️ Harry 😆

So stupid.

One of the ‘lesser mortals’ I know was still turning up for 12 hr shifts in ICU.

I have not seen any evidence that Catherine thinks like this though - she’s always seemed reasonably down to earth given her position.

Pearson is gross. I’m a republican but credit where credit’s due, Kate herself will be dismayed by this article.

It's Allison Pearson. Who I wouldn't pay attention to.
From the Telegraph. Ditto.

Exactly!!!!

This and all the other shit about cancer is all over SM and is just so fucking heartbreaking. Had cancer twice, first time walk in the park the second time was absolutely horrific the chemo impacted me brutally. Too many days felt like an elephant had kicked me in the stomach. The constant top trumps is social media and speculation is absolutely foul. I’m glad I didn’t have to read any of this at the time. Even the comments about the article are pretty shit , does working through the first time make me some sort of hero and unable to work the second time a lazy fraud.

In Catherine's own statement last Friday I don't think she described herself as brave and I don't think she used any of the words 'selfless', 'tonic' or 'show'. I must attribute words to the people who actually come out with them.

I am old enough to remember the film of 'My Fair Lady', when Audrey Hepburn wore a black and white outfit and a large hat, so I quite like the reference to that.

Edited

I must attribute words to the people who actually come out with them.

Well said.

However that will not suit the agenda of those scrabbling for sticks to beat the POW with. A woman dealing with cancer.

Shameful really. And a bit shit.
