To coin a phrase I once saw - poster is so picky they could pick the fly shit out of pepper. (Not the only one on here, either).

Why do I sense that if the picture was of the Sussex family in the same pose, it would be hailed by some as the greatest thing since the photo of Neil Armstrong on the Moon? (Couldn't see his face, either)

Well, I think it's a beautiful picture. I have a similar one of my children running ahead of me into a wood during one of our lockdown walks. It's the capturing of a fleeting moment with the subjects apparently unaware that makes these types of pics so poignant, and I guess if you don't have that sensibility, you won't understand.

But not every picture needs to be everyone lined up and grinning for the camera.

Also, the H&M one would be taken in black and white, by Misan Harriman and sent to all the news outlets and the usual gang would promote it.

It isn't a photo of the back of people's heads.

It's a photo of Dad taking a moment with his kids to appreciate life, to touch and hold each other in healthy emotional intimacy.

It isn't ground breaking or the most amazing photo ever taken. It's just a nice photo of a Dad and his kids. That's all it needs to be

If my local photography club had an exhibition in the local town, which they do, now and again. and if some of them had obviously been given the topic 'a picture of a group of people where you can't see the faces', I'd take a few minutes to look at them all.

This photo must have been tampered with. The kids' heights are all wrong. George is up to William's shoulder now (check out the recent photo on the balcony) and there is a much bigger height difference between him and Louis in real life.

Oh I hope so. It will really jam up camp Sussex.

They are standing on a dune, not level ground. This is why part of the legs are behind greenery. If George is further down the dune, and Louis is near the top, George may look shorter and Louis may look taller.

Prince William is 6 foot 3 according to my googling. If George was up to PW's shoulder wouldn't he be towering over Catherine even in her heels?

According to the Sun (not, I realise, the most reliable of sources) George is five three.

And looking at the composition, they form a triangle both around the outside of the group and internally with the linked arms, which means that the eye travels around the group. They may well have been posed at different levels to achieve that effect.

But, like I said, some commenters are so nitpicky they'd pick fly shit out of pepper. It must be ghastly being inside those heads. Imagine having to deal with them in RL....😒

If I were Kate, I'd have photoshopped in a few extra random arms and possibly Nessie emerging from the North Sea while a UFO hovers above. She might as well because the disingenous "critique" never stops. I suppose all things are pure to the pure in heart and the place this nit picking criticism comes from is far from pure.
