Have another look. I’m certain that @IsoldeWagner was talking about the other brother.

MangshorJhol · 16/06/2024 22:31

my favourite wedding picture is one someone took of DH and me from behind in a private moment when we were laughing about something. I’m sort of gesturing and DH has his hand on my elbow. It’s hard to describe but although you can barely see our faces you can tell we are laughing. I have it framed and on my desk.

Yeah must be a laugh a minute for the children knowing they could lose their mum

No, I was responding to Harry's complaint about his wedding venue. The quote history is there.

I imagine that those who want to disparage a Father’s Day photo of a dad and his kids (when they too are reeling from their mum’s cancer diagnosis) are nobbut but cunts.

Edited

I certainly agree with you on that. There are special ones too who have no qualms about attacking children on here. They are sick sick individuals.

Turning your back to the camera and posting it for everyone to see. I find it distasteful. No matter who they are.

There's always one ..........

CurlewKate · 17/06/2024 05:33

I made birth announcement cards for DS with different pictures. One of the pictures, my favorite, was of just his gorgeous newborn feet. Some of the people who got that one were really upset, and felt they'd been slighted because they couldn't see his face. I thought they were a bit daft too, tbf.

IsoldeWagner · 17/06/2024 06:29

I wouldn't like a birth announcement with just a pair of feet. I'd like a picture of the baby!
However I wouldn't say anything or make a deal of it. Parents choice.

Theunamedcat · 17/06/2024 07:19

FEEET! I love a good feet picture babies feet are super cute 😍 I also love cat feet no more babies for me so I have lots of cat paw pics

He does indeed. He's tall and slim like his mum was x

Continuing comment on W's legs - the legs make for a very nice walker. Probably the best walk in the RF. (I don't reserve this attitude for the RF. I look at the way anyone walks.)

Ah, you're either a feet person or you're not!
Anyway a birth announcement is always so happy and lovely, so I don't know how anyone could take exception really!

DeftLemonDog · 17/06/2024 08:11

I have a photo taken by my daughter in law (a very good amateur photographer) that is similar composition. It’s of my oldest grandson and me , when he was a toddler. I am holding his hand and we are walking into the shallow water at an empty beach (backs to the camera)

I didn’t know it was a ‘ruckenfigur’. It explains why it’s such an emotive image. Thanks @wordler

And now I know how to pronounce it. . 😂

DeftLemonDog · 17/06/2024 08:11

Sorry, not sure why video of how to pronounce ruckenfigur didn’t load.

What's the point of a 'fathers' day' picture showing the back of people's heads?

I could understand this composition as a holiday snapshot but not to commemorate a family occasion.

Just personal taste. I think it's a lovely photo, because it shows children having a close bond with their father, and it celebrates fatherhood.

Gorgonemilezola · 17/06/2024 08:26

'What's the point of a 'fathers' day' picture showing the back of people's heads?'

Quite possibly because Kate and William didn't want the more maniacal members of the Sussex Squad passing pathetic judgement on their children's appearances. I mean they're doing their usual in-depth Hmm analysis anyway but at least it's removed the opportunity for the Squaddies to rip their looks apart.

It's a nice photo, showing a loving father with his children - appropriate for the occasion.

Quite frankly after the furore of the mothers day photo I’m surprised they released one at all!

I know. I'm glad they've risen above that.
It got absolutely toxic.

If they stopped doing these posts then they just let the bullies win

LaMarschallin · 17/06/2024 08:56

It's not like we don't know what they look like, which is where, imo, a birth announcement is different. Nobody's seen the new baby (except a select few) which is why I'd find a random foot a bit frustrating if it was a baby I was interested in (so, friends and family rather than slebs).
This was more a representation of fatherhood which is appropriate for Father's Day.

All day long.

Imagine being so fucking mean spirited to criticise photos celebrating the love between parents and their kids.

Someone said on here once that ‘ they Walk AMONGST us’.

If they meant mean spirited, nasty cunts then they were absolutely bob on.

@IsoldeWagner
"I wouldn't like a birth announcement with just a pair of feet. I'd like a picture of the baby!"
🤣 And it caused YEARS of squabbling between my children. They are in their 20s now, and only yesterday, DD said to DS "Well, you were so ugly they didn't want to send anyone pictures of your face....."

Oh no! That's awful!
I wouldn't say anything, other than - "many congratulations and cute feet!".
However, siblings will use anything to have a pop at each other.....

SM is rather like alcohol, in that indulging in too much of it brings out the real person.
