I was worried that Catherine might not release a birthday photo of Louis this year what with what her diagnosis and the mothers’ day photo fiasco. But she has released an image on the Prince & Princess of Wales instagram page.

He seems like such a rascal! I'm glad the photo fiasco didn't put them off posting a photo. It's nice to get a glimpse of the kids. I think W&K balance it pretty well.

I think it's really odd though that you never see H&M take their kids anywhere? I suppose they must do it out of sight... well, I presume?

He’s the spitting image of Kate - he has her lovely eyes. Charlotte is identical to William and George is a mix of both.

Too much daily mail reading probably. They have Louis down as the ‘naughty and cheeky’ one and stupid people repeat it. It won’t do the kids any good and I agree that people shouldn’t say this nonsense about young children.

Maybe in the UK? Not sure that the US press would have the same scruples?

I think it's very endearing, and I think comments like the one quoted are very stupid. I've seen how he has been in public and I think he's very cute. I don't think people should accuse other people of saying nonsense when there's nothing wrong with it and they are being a total richard.

Generally I think he looks like Kate/the Middletons but in this particular photo I can really see King Charles in there too, especially thinking of photos I've seen of Charles at the same age.

I posted at the time of that ridiculous Mother's Day scripted outrage, that the Photo Agencies/Press were shooting themselves in the foot. The Waleses have apparently decided to just bypass them and release photos via their own SM, and didn't send it out the night before as with previous Birthday photos. Good for them.

The SS online are claiming this is also "fake" because: he's wearing the same shirt as in last years photo (he's clearly not), it's the same shirt as in the Mother's Day photo and it should no longer fit (MD was 6wks ago) and his tooth hasn't grown back yet (apparently US children's adult teeth have a different development rate). Oh, and also he couldn't be lying on the grass because its been raining here. All over the UK, everyday, for ever.

I wouldn’t usually comment in a negative way on the appearance of a young child, but as Charles is now an older man, I will. I don’t think he was a cute looking young child. Louis looks very cute though and nothing like Charles.

A recurrent reminder on threads about the children. This child is not cheeky, naughty or a rascal - nobody knows anything about him and it’s best not to assign him a character based on the fleeting snap shots you may have into his life.

Leave the children alone.

Do you feel superior with that comment ? Strangely , despite the sneering comments about the DM , it seems to be the most often quoted paper on here !

If you are going to get into vapours about other posters "labelling" a child, then "cute" is just another one and highly subjective. So you are no different talking about his looks.

Fortunately, speech is still free. "Nobody knows anything about him" isn't really true, is it, since he's the child of the future king and queen and has made numerous public appearances with his siblings from a very young age. Who has called his naughty? One gets the feeling that pictures of the Wales children doing fairly normal, fun and thoughtful activities with their parents, and pictures/footage of a family who clearly have very loving and relatable family interactions, really is a trigger point for some.
